User ImageThe San Diego Hospital was bustling and busy as usual. Patients being wheeled in for so many different things. Some had gun shot wounds, obviously gang members or maybe had angry wives. Others came in from having the flu or broken fingers or legs and such. So many different injuries and sicknesses. Sometimes it could be too much to take in one day, but a doctor is expected to be calm and collected about it. Which is exactly what twenty-six year old Dr. Gabriel Spivey was. Well, usually. That is he was calm and collected when he didn't personally know the person he was treating or looking over. The day had started out normally for Gabriel. He woke up at six a.m. to get a shower and ready for work. This was his usual routine and had been for quite some time. He would get himself showered and fresh before picking out his clothes and then slipping his doctor jacket on with his name tag clipped to the pocket. After that he would make himself some coffee, put in his favorite cup with a lid and was out of the door and in his car in minutes. His car, which he had very much earned, was a 2010 Camaro. It was his favorite car of all time was ecstatic when he finally got it. His parents told him he was crazy for driving it to work, but nothing had happened to it.....yet. He hoped nothing would happen to it. That car was like his baby. As was said before, the day had started out normally.

There was only one thing out of place for Gabriel. Usually he would have his radio on while on his way to work, but this morning he didn't. The quiet in his car fell over him eerily, but he barely noticed. Today there seemed to be this bad feeling hanging over him. He couldn't place his finger on it or figure out why he felt off. But for some reason, he felt today there was going to be some kind of tragedy or something he wasn't going to be able to handle very well. This made Gabriel weary. He had always had a small little gift for having feelings about things. Gabriel would get a certain feeling about something and usually his feeling would be right. Sometimes he was wrong and with the way he was feeling in his car, he fervently hoped he was wrong this time. After arriving at work, he made his way to his office and looked over all the paper work. Not too long after he arrived, one of the nurses came in and told him he already had a patient. Gabriel pushed his odd feelings aside and got up to go check on his patient. The nurse had told him that the patient had an injury, he hadn't realized it was such a strenuous injury. When he walked into the room, the patient held up his hand, unwrapped the towel around it and showed him that he had sliced his finger open. It was bleeding pretty badly, but Gabriel took care of it quickly. The man was sutured up and out of the hospital with pain pills within the next hour.

That was how his day had started out. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't pleasant either. Mainly because of the gnawing feeling he had rolling around in his stomach. It made him uneasy, but he showed no sign of that while in front of a patient. At one point, the patient's that came in and out slowed down and Gabriel was able to take a break. He grabbed a drink and some chips and made his way back to his office. He was halfway through his drink and chips when he heard a familiar name over the intercom. He stopped eating so he could hear. The chips may have been noisy enough for him to just hear the wrong name. However, he had heard right. The name he had heard was a name of a patient he had helped not too long ago. The memory went through his brain in a flash, remembering how bringing her to his home to give her a place to stay had turned into a night of passion. What ashamed him most about it was that he had a girlfriend. He hadn't meant to sleep with one of his patients, but there was just so much spark and passion between it seemed that it couldn't be stopped.

After the memory flashed out, he was up from his seat and out the door in an instant. He kept listening over the intercom about Willow. The name sent chills down his spine. He had no explanation for that. Gabriel sprinted down the halls, people staring at him as he ran by, looking at him like he was crazy. A few times he tripped, scraping his hands a little. He didn't notice. He just picked himself up and continued running. He made it to the front desk and asked where Willow would be. The nurse told him the emergency room and before she could say anything else, he was sprinting off towards the emergency room. He had to find out what was wrong. There was that bad feeling he had had on the way to work. Now he understood why and hoped that it wasn't as bad as it seemed..........

Willow DeMarco was laying in the hospital bed. For the second time in less than a year. All because her boyfriend beat her...again. The first time he was her boyfriend and the second time she had been minding her own business when he followed her while she was on the way to a grocery store. Low had pulled into a gas station and he had a new truck. He followed her and beat her right there, landing one firm punch in her stomach before she left. There was a young woman watching from a far who called nine one one when she saw him leave and attended to Low. Luckily the woman was a nurse and helped to make sure that everything was okay until the ambulance arrived and she even rode with her because Low didn't want to be alone.

If she had any say in what hospital she had been taken to it wouldn't have been St. Mary's. That was where Gabe worked. The father of her twins. Yet he had no clue that he was going to be a dad because she hadn't told him yet. It was embarrassing enough that they had slept together but for them to be stupid enough to not use protection and she didn't take the morning after pill like she should have. It was more her fault for getting pregnant but she didn't know they didn't use a condom because she didn't ask. The way that she knew it was his was because of her due date. She had been staying with him for a month before they slept together and she was practically healed. Only thing was that she had no where to go safely.

It all changed after they slept together. Low had packed her stuff and left within a day because it had just become awkward. Now she was back in his ER, going in and out of consciousness. Subconsciously she heard the nurse ask her to squeeze her hand and she had done just that. It took a little while and some good medicine for her to come back to full conciseness and all the wanted to know was if her babies would be okay. No one could tell her for sure and it was driving her crazy. Low hadn't seen herself yet but she knew it was bad. Not as bad as before but pretty close to it. The more dangerous thing was the fact of her being punched in the stomach.

That was when the one guy she was hoping had off today showed up. The last person she wanted to see, to have to explain why she hadn't told him she was pregnant, she saw out of the corner of her eye.

User ImageGabriel looked frantic as he raced down the hallway towards the emergency room. he knew that for whatever reason Willow was in the emergency room, it wasn't going to be some minor thing. Gabriel had the feeling that Willow had ran into her ex-boyfriend again. He would bank his whole years pay on it. More memories stepped their way into Gabriel's mind as he raced down the hall. He remembered how one day after they had slept together, Willow had just up and left Gabriel's home. Ever since he had been trying to get a hold of her, to talk to her, but he never could. He had been worried sick about her ever since she had left and now his worry was turning into severe concern. Even though Willow had been at his home for a month, he could feel that there were feelings there for Willow. He had been trying to fight them, especially with already having a girlfriend, but there was just no way he could deny them to himself. Another hard memory hit Gabriel. His girlfriend had freaked out on him when he had told her that his patient was staying with him. She had freaked because it was a girl. Gabriel had explained to her that she had nowhere to go and Gabriel was just trying to help her out. It had calmed his girlfriend down, but not completely. Now and then, when he would go out on dates with her, she would ask him if he was sleeping with Willow. As always, Gabriel denied. And it was true......up until he actually did sleep with her. He still hadn't told his girlfriend about it and it was starting to effect him.

Finally Gabriel made it to the emergency room. He tried to calm himself down and tried desperately to get answers from the nurses about Willow. Eventually a woman approached him and told her that she rode in the ambulance with Willow. The woman told him everything and with each word, Gabriel felt sick. He felt like his face should be turning green. Finally a nurse stepped in and told him all the details. When Gabriel heard the word pregnant, he nearly fell to the floor. Gabriel blinked and the nurse kept calling his name. "Dr. Spivey? Dr. Spivey? Are you alright."
Gabriel finally got a hold of himself. and nodded to the nurse. "Yes, I'm fine. It just makes me sick to think a man would punch a woman in the stomach. Or punch a woman at all for that matter." He told the nurse, seriously struggling to keep his voice from shaking. Gabriel finally got away from the nurse and made his way towards where Willow was. She had some explaining to do. He wished she had told him that she was pregnant. Gabriel knew he was the father because she wasn't pregnant the whole time she had been staying at his home. Gabriel had no idea how to feel about this. He wasn't sure if he was happy or if he was shocked. Okay, well, he was definitely shocked, but he had to hide that for now.

Gabriel cleared his throat, took a deep breath and then let it out slowly. He was trying to calm himself. He was sure, though, that his eyes would portray his worry and every other emotion he was feeling. Gabriel scooted the curtain back, walked towards the bed where Willow was laying and then scooted the curtain back. He gazed at the chart they had given him for her and then looked up at her. He kept a straight face for just a moment, but then his face broke down in pain. Gabriel grabbed the stool and scooted it towards the bed, sitting down on it so he could lean forward and talk to Willow. "Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant?"
Gabriel asked, not helping that that question was the first to escape his mouth. He sighed and closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. Gabriel cleared his throat and then looked back up. He spoke before Willow could say anything. "Okay. How are you feeling?" He asked, being the professional doctor now. He looked over her cuts and pulled back her shirt to look at her stomach. His eyebrows came together, seeing the bruises the guy had given her. "What all did he do to you and how bad are you hurt?" He asked, looking over her chart. He was on the edge of breaking again, but kept his facade up better this time.

Low nearly jumped when she heard his voice. The voice that had comforted her so many months before. The one who had loved her like no one else had and the one she had left without looking back. That was what hurt the most, worse than any of the injuries she was currently suffering from or even the thought of possibly losing her babies. They were their babies, not just hers any more. "Last time I saw you, I wasn't pregnant." Low knew what he meant. Why hadn't she called him? Frankly she thought it would be easier to avoid him and do it on her own but everyone could see where that had gotten her. In the emergency room not knowing whether their babies would live or die.

He wanted to know how she was feeling? She felt like s**t. Not knowing how her babies were was making any ache or pain ten times worse. "Honestly? Like ******** s**t. I want to know if my babies are okay and no one will tell me." Hopefully no news was good news but Low wasn't naive enough to believe that. When he lifted up her shirt to look at her stomach she almost reached down to cover herself back up but remembered that he was her doctor now, not just some guy she slept with and was now carrying his kids. "Eight months pregnant, with twins. I don't know the sex and its not documented on my chart. If it is, don't say anything. No medication, no high risk."

Low rest a hand on her stomach, lightly so that she wouldn't get any pain from the bruises.

User ImageGabriel just nodded when Willow told him she wasn't pregnant when she saw him last. Well, he knew that, but that wasn't really what he was asking. He let it go though, not pressing it anymore. If she didn't want to explain why she hadn't told him, then that was her choice. Gabriel kept look Willow over, making sure nothing was severely damaged or broken. It just seemed there were lots of bruises, but that was to be expected. Even though there were just bruises though, it still hurt Gabriel to look at it. Her ex had punched her in the stomach and very nearly could have killed her or the babies. Gabriel's babies. He felt proud and sick all at the same time. He had always wanted kids and it was odd to him that he would get them this way. Though, he was in love with Willow, so that was probably where the proud feeling came from. However, the sick feeling nearly washed that feeling away. Sick from realizing he needed to tell his girlfriend what had happened. Sick from thinking about a man punching a pregnant woman. Violence had always made Gabriel sick. Which some people found odd. He would get physically sick from violence, but not when he saw gruesome things in the hospital. That didn't phase him at all. It was just the wayhe was wired.

Gabriel turned his head to Willow, looking away as she answered his question of how she was feeling. He didn't like her answer. She was seriously worried about the babies. Willow looked just as scared as he felt. Gabriel didn't like having Willow feel like s**t, but it seemed there was nothing he could do about it. At least, she probably wouldn't let him anyway. Gabriel's throat tightened when she said something about being eight months pregnant. Had it really been that long? That long since she had left and left him feeling...well, horrible about it. His face showed no signs of emotional turmoil though. He kept a straight face, listening to what she had to say. Gabriel watched Willow's hand lay on her stomach and Gabriel felt like crying. It was good to know she still loved the babies, even though he was the father. So many times Gabriel wondered if Willow regretted sleeping with him or letting him take care of her. He was so close to asking, but kept his mouth shut. Finally, Gabriel got a big grip on himself and looked down at Willow's chart again. He scanned it, looking for anything that meant bad news. Nothing looked bad or out of place. A smile came upon Gabriel's lips and he finally looked up at Willow. "The babies are fine Willow. They're gonna be okay."
When Gabriel said the babies, he said it with reverence and pride. He knew it showed in his voice, but he didn't care.
