A California police officer vacationing in Hawaii got to work Saturday when he saw a TSA worker under attack.
Justin Rogers, a corporal with the Pinole Police Department in the small town outside of San Francisco, was waiting in the security line at the Honolulu International Airport when he saw a woman begin to jump on and attack a female TSA officer.
Before other TSA officials could come to her aid, Rogers, his feet in just socks after removing his shoes for security, jumped a short security wall and pinned the attacker to the ground before securing her with handcuffs.
The entire incident was captured on the airport's surveillance camera.
"TSA salutes Pinole, Calif., Police Officer Justin Rogers for his swift actions after coming to the aid of a TSA officer who was being assaulted," Sterling Payne, TSA spokesperson, told ABCNews.com. "His actions, coupled with the quick response of airport security, minimized disruptions to the traveling public."
The alleged attacker, reportedly homeless, had been wandering the airport and was trying to get through a security line reserved for airline personnel, according to authorities.
She was arrested and charged with assault, according to Lt. Mike Oakland, commander for the Sheriff's Division Airport Patrol Section.
Rogers, who could not be reached today by ABCNews.com, gave a statement to police after the incident and then made it back into the security line in time to board his scheduled flight home with his family.
The female TSA agent, who was not identified, was not injured.
I wouldn't entirely say the TSA worker was at fault since this wasn't a customer getting felt up - it was a homeless person who might have been mentally unstable trying to get into an employees-only area.
