Chibi Halo
And on top of that the CIA kept the President (Bush at the time of these atrocities) out of the loop.
Chaney has come out and said that he's read the report and totally supports everything in it, and would do it all over again if he could.
He and the president are in the loop, even if they appear not to be.
Actually, he's said that he barely looked at the five hundred page summary of the report on Fox News (I saw parts of the interview) because he doesn't need to look at the entire thing to know the Senate Intelligence Committee is wrong in their findings and that this did lead to us finding Bin Laden. He stands by everything they did as being right and just. However, he's only talking about the water boarding we've done. There was a lot that he and Bush weren't told was going on and it's evident when you hear the comments Bush had after it was learned what was going on at that prison in Iraq.
Here's the thing, all of this had to be approved by the administration and the CIA reports to the State Department to see if what they're doing is legal or not. So either they were telling bold face lies to Condi or she approved of them doing some very nasty and disturbing things to the detainees we had in custody at the time. And the more you hear about the psychologist who was paid $80 Million to develop the program the more it sounds like he used the CIA to carry out his revenge than intelligence gathering tactics. He sounds pretty disturbed from what I've heard. Granted I haven't seen the full Vice interview with him.
Still, Cheney will be on Meet the Press Sunday so you can watch that and see if his story holds up or if anything has changed.
