01 Who are you?
I'm a normal member of gaia, just like everyone else. Call me Tessen, Tessy, Tessenjitsu, Tess, Tetris, whatever. Or Austin, my real name.
02 What gender are you again?
Male. I just change my avatar's gender frequently.
03 Who is in charge of making the Battle System?
Qixter.

05 Whats the point of this thread?
To spread truthful information to everyone that enters the Battle MMO forum, and to help remove spam.

Battle System
07 When is the Battle System coming out?
Sometime in 2008!!!!
08 Will we need to pay for anything?
Nope. The Battle System will be free. No subscriptions.
09 What happens when you run out of HP?
You become "dazed" instead of dying. When you are dazed, you become unable to use rings/attacks and your speed is tremendously slowed down.
10 How can I get out of being dazed?
You can wait a certain period of time, return to a null chamber, or have a player use a Defibrillate Ring on you.
11 Are there any penalties after recovering from being dazed?
Yes. When you first recover from "undazation" you will only be allowed to use a limited amount of your eight rings. After a while they will start to return back to being active/usable again.
12 Will we have to download Gaia Battle?
No. The Battle System will run on Flash. The servers will run on Java.
13 What kind of music will be in the Battle System?
Yasunori Mitsuda was supposed to be making the music for the battle system. It was even stated in the battle system website. Although, now his name is not even mentioned. Instead, Qixter has mentioned that Jeremy Soule will be doing the music for Battle.
14 Will there be a tutorial?
Yes, but it wont be very long Qixter says. It will take place in a Train Station area.
15 Will there be PvP or PK?
Yes, but not when the game is first released. It will be added on later.
16 Will there be Battle System events?
Yes. The first confirmed is the Halloween of 2008 event.
17 Will Gaia Cash effect the BS?
You can buy various things with GC for the game. These include certain recipes that are GC exclusive. Also you can purchase power-ups such as hp or stamina recoveries, ring buffs, etc. All these items can still be bought from other players in the marketplace for regular gold though.
18 Will there be any hotkeys?
Yes. You can use F1-F8 to use your rings and the Tab key to target the nearest monster. You can also press the space bar to automatically target yourself.
19 How can I determine a n00b from a pro?
The way to determine a strong player from a weak player is by their Total Charge Level. The Total Charge level is the total amount of energy orbs you have collected, no matter what the Charge Levels of your rings are.
20 What is the Exhaust Bar?
The exhaust bar fills up as you use rings. When it becomes full, you cannot use any more rings.
21 What can I do if my Exhaust Bar is full?
You can kneel/sit down to recover both your energy and your health.
Stats
22 Will my character have stats?
Yes.
23 What are all the stats your character has?
Accuracy, Dodge, Willpower, Speed, Weight, Health, Regeneration and Dissipation.
24 What is Accuracy?
How accurately you attack. The higher this stat, the better chance your attacks have to hit the opponent.
25 What is Dodge?
How well you can dodge enemy attacks. The higher this stat, the better chance you have to avoiding a monster's attack.
26 What is Willpower?
This is a stat that "helps you resist crowd control attacks".
27 What is Speed?
How fast your character can move. The higher this stat, the faster your character can walk around maps.
28 What is Weight?
This stat lowers the chance of you being knocked back. If you are knocked back, you cannot attack until you get up. So the higher this stat, the less likely you are to be knocked back.
29 What is Health?
If your health reaches 0, you become dazed. So obviously, the higher this stat is, the more damage you can take before you daze.
30 What is Regeneration?
How fast you recover health while kneeling. The higher this stat, the faster you will recover health while in kneeling position.
31 What is Dissipation?
This stat effects how well you recover from exhaustion. The higher this stat, the faster your exhaustion is recovered.
32 How do I raise my stats?
The more powerful your rings are, the higher your stats will be. If you keep all your rings at around the same Charge Level, then you will maximize your stat bonuses. If some of your rings are not equally charged, then they decrease your stat bonuses. So keeping a set of rings in which all their Charge Levels are about equal, is the best way to keep strong stats.

01 Can we use the monthly collectible weapons or weapon items in the battle system?
No. Instead, you use rings as weapons.
02 What are rings for?
Rings give you the magical ability to use your attacks in the battle system. These include shooting fire balls, healing, to summoning katanas. These are our weapons in the game. Our only way to use attacks.
03 How can I obtain rings?
You start out with three rings, but you can find them when you battle monsters, or possibly make them with loot you collect from monsters.
04 Can I buy rings?
Gaia will not be making an NPC run shop that sells rings. Instead you can buy them off other players in the marketplace.
05 Will rings be monthly collectibles?
Its still unknown.
06 How do you use rings?
First click on a monster you wish to attack, then click on the ring you wish to use.
07 Will rings be able to raise your stats?
Yes. There will be passive rings. These rings will not do any attacks to a monster, but instead, raise a stat such as damage or health.
08 Can you upgrade rings?
Yes. To do so, you have to collect a certain amount of energy orbs to increase it's Charge Level.
09 How many rings have been confirmed?
A total of 40 have been confirmed for beta testing, but not all 40 have been shown in screenshots.
Charge Levels/Rage Rank
10 What is a Charge Level?
A charge level is a level that is acquired by collecting energy orbs.
11 How do I collect energy orbs?
To obtain energy orbs, you must kill monsters with the ring you want the orbs to be collected to.
12 How does the Charge Level effect rings?
The higher your Charge Level is for a certain ring, the more efficiently you can use it.
13 What happens to the Charge Level after I trade the ring to another person?
If you raise a ring's Charge Level, and then you trade that ring to another person, the ring will be back to it's original state for that person, but if you use the same ring, you will return to your previous Charge Level.
14 What is a Rage Rank?
A rage rank is basically how powerful your ring is. The higher it is, the better attacks the ring can do.
15 What is the maximum level Rage Rank?
Four.
16 How can I level up my ring's Rage Rank?
Every ring starts out with all four rage ranks. By dealing damage to monsters, and monsters damaging you, you build up rage. You use the rage you build up to activate the rank of attack you want.
17 How do I use my ring's Rage?
Normal attacks are made by just clicking on the ring and then the monster. But Rage attacks are made by holding down the mouse button on the monster, charging it, then releasing the mouse button to initiate the attack.
18 Do higher level Rage Ranks have a longer charge time?
Yes. But, exact times could vary depending on the ring.

01 Will we be able to catch monsters as pets?
Its very unlikely. A pet system is supposed to be released some time in Gaia's future, but we dont know at all when that is, or if it will effect the battle system
02 Will there be boss monsters?
Yes. Like most other MMORPGs, boss monsters are ALOT harder to kill but give alot better experience points and items.
03 Will the time of day effect the appearance of monsters?
Yes but exact details are unknown.
04 Will monsters drop avatar items?
No, but you can use the loot you have acquired from the monsters to craft/create clothes and items for your avatar.
05 Will monsters drop gold? How much?
Yes they will. But, we are not sure how often they will drop gold, or how much.
06 What else can they drop?
Monsters can also drop what are called "loot items". They are non-usable items that are used as materials to craft items.
07 How can we collect what they drop?
The items are automatically sent to your inventory
08 How are items collected if you are in a party?
Every member of the party will have the same chance of getting the loot as you will. Say that a monster has a 100% chance of dropping 5 gold. All party members will receive 5 gold. If a monster has a 50% chance of dropping a ring, then all party members have a 50% chance of getting it. This means that some people might get the dropped items, and some may not. But all players in the party have an equal chance of getting the item as everyone else.
09 What are the chances of getting a rare drop?
3%.
10 Will being in a party change the success rate of recieving a rare drop?
Nope.
11 Will there be different variations of each monster?
Some monsters will have different variations/color schemes to them. The only one currently confirmed is the Fluff monster.

01 What kinds of things can I craft?
You can craft items for your avatar, including weapons (remember, you cant use them), and clothing and/or armor. You may also be able to craft rings, but its not confirmed nor do they have examples.
02 Besides the drops needed, what else do I need to craft an item?
A recipe is required to craft the item in the first place. Without the item's recipe you can not craft that item, regardless if you have the items to craft it or not.
03 How do I obtain recipes?
You can either find them by killing monsters and them dropping recipes, or buying them from the marketplace.

Badges are shown in your profile and your favorite badge can be displayed in your Character Info Window in the game.
02 How do I get badges?
Badges are awarded to you after you complete certain tasks. Think of Xbox 360's Achievement System.

FAQ'er of the Month is the most honorable title you can get here. It is only given to the most active, most polite, and most dedicated people that visit this thread, and the forums as well.
How do you become FAQ'er of the Month?
To become a FAQ'er, you must be of the following requirements listed above, and then nominated by me. There are two nominations every month. The two nominees are notified by PM and they will have to answer why they believe they deserve the title. After both contestants have replied with their answer, it is added below along with my own reasons on why they were chosen. A poll is made and the first one to 20 wins the title. If it is too close, the limit is extended to 30. And if it is only one vote of a win by then, its a tie.
What do I win for being FAQer of the Month?
Added to the Hall of Fame. Bragging rights.
Im not nominated, so what should I look for when I cast my vote?
Please, dont vote for whoever you think is "a better friend" or "this person is nicer, so I should vote for them", think about it just like every election. What do they have that helps out the community and what do they contribute? What reason do they have for wanting the title? Which ever you think deserves it based on their reason for competing, and from what you have seen them do, you should base your vote on that.

~*Open at Battle System Release*~
Note: You do not have to be a "warrior" type character to join this competition. This competition is for everyone and anyone regardless of character type and ability or level.
01 To join Warrior of the Month, players must pay 100 gold on the very first day of the month. If you try to pay on the second day and after, you will not be accepted into the contest.
02 After recieving their payment, their orb count will be added along with their name into the listing for the Warrior of the Month.
03 Who ever collects the most orbs by the very last day of the month, wins the title. This does not mean who ever has the most at the end of the month, but who ever earned the most orbs in that one month period.
04 When PvP is released, entrants into the contest will be paired up according to thier ability/level. Players will fight each other until there is only one left standing in a tournament like fashion. The winner of this contest will be moved on to the final round.
05 In the final round, the winner of the orb's contest, and the winner of the PvP tournament will then fight in PvP. Who ever wins that battle will win the title as Warrior of the Month and receive a ring or crafted loot item and the looser will be in 2nd place and receive a reward of 250 gold. I will be supplying one ring or crafted item to the winner and anyone who wants to contribute to that can do so but you gotta ask me if its okay and it has to be a ring or crafted item.
06 Players who win Warrior of the Month can not rejoin for another two months. This means that if you win Warrior of the Month in January, you can not compete again until April. This rule is so that one player will keep winning every month, and it will allow others to win and allows for a more fair competition.
07 Anyone caught cheating or breaking the rules, or even causing trouble during the contest will be disqualified and will not receive a refund of their 100 gold.
08 At the end of the year, all of the Warriors of the Month for that year will fight for the title of Warrior of the Year. There is no entry fee for Warrior of the Year. All of the Warriors of the Month will fight in a PvP tournament. But the pairing will be chosen randomly instead of by level like in the Warrior of the Month award. The winner of Warrior of the Year will receive 1,000 gold along with a ring and a crafted item. The runner up will receive 500 gold.
By sending your trade request for 100 gold and joining the competition, you agree to follow all rules.
