Is Alchemy Gliching?

I'm a level three, and over the last two days I've completed two Philosopher's Caches, yet on my progress bar, it says I have nothing. Is this a normal thing, or is my Alchemy majorly glitching?

Level 1 formulas don't give xp at level 3.
The only formulas that give xp are at your level or one level lower.
If you make a lower level formula you get less xp than making one at your level.
