MY boyfriend is half Chammorro, Half Japanese and he was raised in Saipan. I want to learn more about his culture and his people- like the islander heritage he has. I think it's really cool- but i haven't been able to find much about them. I wanted to know if they are like phillipino people or not (because he is friends with some phillipino).

So please let me know things like:
Language
Customs
Traditions
cultural atmosphere
food (this one esp!! i want to learn to make traditional island food for him!)

thank you very much! I hope we can get to be friends and you can educate me : )

Chamorro is the proper spelling 3nodding

I live on Guam so i should know some things.

Language spoken here is English as its a US territory but the native language is chamorro.

Food, well chicken kelaguen should be a good choice.

:3 Yeah he's tri-lingual, personally i would like to learn some chamorro because his brother has a son with another chamorro girl from the island and so thier son speak chamorro a lot. ^.w.^~ I babysit him sometimes- and sometimes i don't know what he wants or needs because he talks to me in chamorro and i don't speak any!! D':

well i leanred "nan-ya" (again im spelling it based on how it sounds to me) means food or hungry or thirsty. he's only three- so he doesn't always say whole sentances, just words. It'd be nice if i knew more!

i would also like to be able to impress my boyfriend by learning it a little bit- it would surprise him i think. : )

What is chicken Kelaguen? :OO
sounds yummy!

It's ok~! i hope your headache gets better!

Guam is in the Northern Pacific Ocean - people say hello by saying "Hafa Adai" (pronounced ha fa day)

Here is a link to one of the online Chamorro dictionaries: http://www.chamorro.com/kantontasi/fino.html

Tons of info by googling too. It's great that you want to learn more about your boyfriend's culture and heritage!
