Everybody in FMA reminds you of some superhero type character (Greed as Venom for instance). To me, the young nameless man who becomes Bradley reminds me of Roy from the OVA "Yet Another Man's Battlefield", the 18 year old who is manipulated by others around him. The two men aren't, by any means, exact mirrors of each other, but I'm guessing that part of why Bradley acts so mentor-ish to Mustang is because he can identify with Roy. In the end, though, his loyalty has been given to the homunculi, and he helps Pride force Roy through the Gate.
