Matthew 5:17-20
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven..

This goes with the verse in James 2 I've cited about 4 times now. Breaking one part of the law makes you guilty of it all.

Romans 1:17
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." Placing your faith in Jesus and living by faith in Him brings righteousness, far greater than the Pharisees who did not have faith in Jesus.

Quote:
Matthew 19:17-19
"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.' "

You miss the rest of the text:

20 The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Jesus is telling the man to follow Him, and to live by faith in Him. The man had idols in the law and his possessions, thinking that he hasn't killed or stolen and didn't act fake or dishonored his mother and father made him a good person. He wasn't willing to give up these things to be a believer, he wanted to keep his idols.

Quote:

Colossians 3:1-7
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.

Notice the line "For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." This refers to the Christian who has already placed his or her faith in Christ. Placing faith in Jesus is not an okay, I've gotta stop my sex outside of marriage, my sex with any person or object or animal, my lust for others from pornography, my selfishness, my idolatry, and then Jesus will accept me. It is come as you are. Jesus can take someone who has been a murderer, a rapist, an adulterer, fill in the blank. And as 8:38-39 references, coming as you are and placing your faith means that it can't be taken away from you.

The part that says the wrath of God is coming, the judgment day is coming! And there are people who are not believers in Christ that have done those sins that you underline, and they will be judged and they will go to hell.

When he says you used to walk in these ways, he says you were sinners, and now that you are blameless, you should start your path to be more Christ-like, less of a sinner, more of a lover. This is called sanctification. It is a growth from the day of salvation upwards at varying degrees from varying people towards Christ-like, perfect. You never achieve perfection but you strive.

Romans 6-7 would be a good read for you to have some questions answered if you need more information.

It very clearly states that the only way to enter heaven is to obey the commandments.

I satisfied your condition.

Matthew 19 would be a good read for you. You encounter a rich man that wants to know how to get to heaven. I'm guessing this is a question you ask also.

Jesus answers him asking if he has kept the law-- only noting the nono's of the 10 commandments, thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not give false witness, thou shalt honor thy father and mother.

He says yes I've kept those! I'm sure you probably have too.

But then God says, sell all your worldly possessions and give to the poor and follow me. He refused.

While giving all your possessions to the poor isn't a requirement, this man loved money and had it as an idol. Were he to follow Jesus, he would have a false sense of faith, because any mishap and he trusts in his money to rescue him, not God.

And it is Jesus says come all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Jesus says whosoever shall believe. Not whosoever shall believe and be straight or any caviat.

But, if your identity in homosexuality or any other idol you may have must place God in a box where you are like a D.J. and you slide all the switches and press all the buttons to your liking, it might not be Jesus you are worshipping but a creation of your own design.

In essense, you can follow Christ and be gay, but be sure that you are actually following Christ!

For starters, I wouldn't have even began this mess of a topic. Then I wouldn't have gone around bludgeoning people with Scripture when you got rightly called on said mess of a topic. But since we're already on that tack, I have two for you:

Matthew 24:36: "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Matthew 7:1-4: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Now cut it out and leave other people who don't follow your beliefs and, more importantly, are content to not follow your beliefs, alone.

It clearly states that there is not one person on this planet who could ever follow the laws to a T, they are there as guide lines. Jesus was sent to make a new pact with mankind so that through the belief in what he did for us and through our attempt at being better more loving people to each other, we would then find our way into gods favor and as such into heaven.

Most of the things in the book are examples of what not to do, the only thing asked is faith. Not only when you feel like it but all the time, anyone who chooses not to try and better themselves as to make the world we live in a better place for everyone is in fact an antichrist or opposing christs only plea.

Thus sinners will continue sinning, saints will continue sinning. Saints will however pray each day to be a little better and attempt to put those wheels in motion by leading as example. Not by judging anyone before themselves but just simply by helping where they can as much as they can and overall trying to love instead of hate in general.

Every thing is taken so out of context in the bible, people seem to forget. The prophets or disciples that wrote the thing had only been human themselves.

But i digress lest I act as devils advocate, not looking for a fight. Just the opinion of someone who has only been reading the book for a couple months and is new in faith anyways.

edit: found what you were referring to.

Go to Romans 3:23 - it says for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 says that for the wages of sin is death.

Ergo, Jesus says If you want to enter life, obey the commandments. For a person that does not sin therefore is not destined for death. The problem though is that everyone is a sinner.

Jesus had sarcastic remarks throughout this encounter. He says why do you call me good when only God is good? Obviously trying to point himself out as God to the guy. He says follow all the commandments like it were possible, and the guy even thought he did a good job at it. Then Jesus really told him how it is, and he left.

You haven't really answered any questions. You just spout out bible verses which don't actually serve as evidence of anything, especially when asked to provide proof that a person has entered heaven.

So what you're saying is that its simply enough to believe in Jesus to be his follower, yes?

If that's the case, why reiterate the commandments? After all, he's saying "just follow me, Bilbro Swaggins" like its nobody's business.

He didn't appear to change law, but to fulfill it.

If that's also the case, then he is upholding the tenants and bylaws that are required of followers of God, as these are the only way to gauge who is a follower and who is not.

Again, you're intentionally missing bits of the bible, and its fun watching you squirm around answers.
