Personally, Sarah Jane.

Also, Rory is a companion. You may not think so,
but a lot of other people do. So what if he's with Amy?
Micky was with Rose, and technically he's a companion,
and Harry was along with Sarah Jane, also technically
a companion. All three ( and many others ) have traveled
with the Doctor numerous times, even if they came in late.
And they've helped out a hellova lot of times.
