Hello Gaians,

We have some exciting news! To help curb inflation in the gold economy, and in an effort to phase out our gold chance items as much as possible if not completely, our team is introducing a new feature to the Marketplace.

The value of gold and the value of Gaia Cash are constantly fluctuating as the gold and item values in the Marketplace rise and sink. Our gold chance items grant completely random amounts of gold, making them an exciting gamble but an unfortunate risk to the economy. With the help of this new feature, the prices of Gaia Cash and gold in relation to each other will always be carefully monitored and regulated to pose the least possible risk to our gold economy. In short, Gaia Staff will be able to curb inflation before it happens. Not only that, but getting the items of your dreams may become much easier!

This new feature will add a Gaia Cash purchase option to certain items in the Marketplace.

What does it mean?
Gaians will now have the option to purchase some items being sold in the Marketplace directly for Gaia Cash! The seller of the items will be granted the gold amount the item was originally listed for.

For example: if user KingMemphis has listed the Angelic Halo for three trillion gold, but user bluealaris does not have enough gold to buy it, bluealaris may have the option of purchasing it for Gaia Cash. Once the Gaia Cash transaction is complete, KingMemphis, the seller, will receive three trillion gold (minus the standard Marketplace tax) and bluealaris, the buyer, will receive the Angelic Halo. Please note that the seller will not receive any Gaia Cash.

What is the conversion rate?
Much like how real life currency varies, so will Gaia Cash. As inflation in the economy rises, the value of Gaia Cash to gold will be adjusted accordingly to help curb any instabilities. If items begin to deflate in a way that may negatively affect item sellers, it will be adjusted in the opposite direction to help maintain the value of your items.

What are the benefits? Fewer gold chance items, stability in the economy, great deals on legendary items, and the option to finish your item quests in an instant regardless of your gold amount.

How do I participate? If you are selling an eligible item in the Marketplace, you will have the option to choose whether or not your listing will accept Gaia Cash as a form of payment. If a buyer chooses this option, it will not affect the gold amount you receive from the completed transaction. It will be just as if they had purchased it for gold. This feature is completely voluntary to use, but presents a great opportunity to sell your items to a wider range of buyers. It may also help your items sell much more quickly.

How does this affect the Marketplace Tax? The gold amount received by the seller of an item will be taxed the same amount ( 5%) regardless of which method the buyer used to purchase the item. The Tax is not affected by this feature.

How will this affect Gaia? If this feature is successful, it will have a strong impact on the frequency and amount of gold chance items from here on out.

We're excited to bring this feature to you as a beta release. Please let us know your opinions, suggestions, and questions in our Feedback Thread. Please take a look at the FAQ as well. Thank you!
