Quick question: Are the Western Digital Raptor drives really as fast as they say they are?

I'm debating getting one for the computer I'm building, but that 200 dollar price tag for a 74GB Raptor is making me think twice. I also heard somewhere that you can achieve similar speed with a Serial ATA drive. Is this true?
The Raptors are definately powerful hard drives.... But, personally, I don't think they're worth it.

I have a regular old 160 GB 7200 RPM SATA Seagate drive, and since I don't game or anything, it's performance is just fine. I never have to impatiently wait for something to be read from or written to the hard drive. Sure, I would see a performance gain by going to a Raptor, but I just don't think it's worth it.
