First off, I hope I'm posting in the right place. If not, I apologize and please let me know where this should go!

Second, I apologize if this is a dumb question, I'm not as experienced with computers as others...

Okay, so within the last week or so, my computer will randomly freeze for a second or two, and since I usually have music playing, the audio will suddenly stutter and make a buzzing sound, but then it goes back to normal. Sometimes this will repeat a couple of times. Then sometimes, but not always, my laptop fans will suddenly go full speed. Usually, if this does happen, they go back down to normal, but today, every time I boot up my computer, the fans kick on shortly after and they don't turn down unless I reboot. They are currently running full tilt. I downloaded speedfan to check temps, but they're all low. I keep my laptop on a laptop cooler at all times, with a built-in fan, and the laptop fans don't turn off even if the cooler fan is going. They refuse to turn down.

Any help or suggestions at all are welcome.

EDIT: Sometimes the fan will just kick on without the freezing and strange audio issues

EDIT EDIT: Thank you to all who replied trying to help! This issue has been resolved. A driver update was issued not too long after this problem started that fixed the fan/audio/freezing issues completely.

You could try SpeedFan to control the laptop fan speed. cx

Please ensure that no viruses may be effecting your computers processing memory. I would suggest overlooking your Task Manager to see how many tasks you may be running within your system's background.

Have a scan of your PC and make sure that there isn't any programs that are running just to higher your system memory usage.

You can also change your power settings within control panel to check if your computer is using 100% power or not. This may be occuring to speed up the fans.

Fans are usually effected on laptops by one of those. If you have nothing to control the speed of your fans usually it's effected by the temperature of the laptop. Do not keep it on your legs or your bed as those can conduct heat and spread it to the laptop. Keep it on a cool surface like a wooden table for it to be able to properly breathe.
I recently found out that i can crank up the fans of my laptop by pressing Fn+1.
Take a look at your manual, maybe there's a similar option that's affecting you.

just be careful if you turn the fan on non-stop. my sister said that it is possible to wear out the fan belt or something.

Most computer fans I've seen work by ballbearings rather than fanbelts. Car fans might use fanbelts but that's because they work a billion times harder and have the space for them. Your average laptop has a space premium that would make Japan with its 100 year mortgages very jealous.

That point aside, they can indeed be worn out by excessive usage.

You could try cleaning with compressed air. If you have any pets it dials up the need for doing this periodically to 11.
