Where you save before you get your starter and restart until it's shiny.

Neither have I... The female starters were pure chance xd The first was lost, though, because every time I took Emerald out of the GBA, it'd reset. The second was on FireRed so I could transfer it to SoulSilver in a bid for a complete Pokedex.

but the pokemon that I can only pick up on the dex nav are hard to find..so I just keep running around the grassy areas until the dex nav alerts me
