u n u Thank you all so very very much for being patient while we figure things out since the restaffing. Based on a plethora of people's comments, we have brought back the academy, and we're working on resetting the world so its a balanced combination of the old and the new. We will have a...uhm. Re-reopening event to announce all the changes, and for the first month when everything is done, we will offer 5 star tokens to everyone who requests it. More on all that later! Right now, everything is still being put together, but it should be done and ready soon. <3

✥ Event Rules.
✤ One character can be won, per person, per event. Auctions are generally an exception.
✤ There is a cooldown period of 2 months between acquiring premades/winning events/char. slots.
✤ Unless stated otherwise, proxying is generally not offered up during events.
✤ If you win, you will be quoted, and must follow the directions in the quote within 72 hours.
✤ Failure to do so will result in staff rerolling the win or giving it to runner-up.
✤ Gifting is not allowed.

✥ Character Rules.
✤ In order to roleplay here without art of your character. you must have an approved
character quest. Make a quest here.
✤ No god-moding or manhandling other people's characters.
✤ Only use the available races in the shop for your characters. There are also some optional factions
for stage 2 and up.
✤ Spiritus are always based on monsters, and witches are very versatile with their appearances.
If you want a ghost witch, one with animal ears and tail and so on, that's perfectly fine! If you
want your character to start off as a normal person, or have them cursed into a book and freed
by sucking the soul out of a reader, that also is fine! (And so on, and so forth.)
✤ You are allotted two artless characters. Once one receives art, you may quest for more.
✤ Only you may play your character.
✤ Please, do be creative with their history or plots. Do not feel limited or intimidated!

In ancient times, there happened upon our world a great calamity that devoured man and beast alike, and filled the world with a dark miasma so thick that not even a trickle of light could show. It was the beginning of a world of darkness, brought about by the One-Eyed Demon King, War. The Spiritus had usurped the throne from his half-brotherKing Yllarian, and began his mission of destruction to attain god-like divinity. With his might, he tore open a great rift in the Earth, and from it poured countless souls of darkness, those we call 'Riftborn'. Together with his monsters and his legion of followers, the Demon King covered Makai and Poena Privus in tragedy and despair, intending to unleash true darkness upon the realm of light and dusk.

It was a dark time of despersation and violence when the Nine Heroes appeared. Together, they forged the ultimate weapon against the Demon King and his Legion: Anima, a gargantuan living armor with the soul of a fallen hero from times of old. Anima descended upon the darkness pouring out of the rift, devouring all the shadow and evil that met his eyes, until at last he met the Demon King face to face. Much of Poena Privus was destroyed by their battle, and deep scars were etched into the very soul of the earth, so deep that even today, they remain. Fragments of history tell how the entire world was shaken with violent tremors, that the heavens trembled and cried, and even the darkness recoiled in fear at the clash of titanic power from the force of two colliding enemies tangled in the throes of battle.

Finally, it was Anima who let out a blood-drenched cry of victory as the Demon King's corpse lay at his feet, but just as victory was in the hands of the people once more and the darkness shrank away by the light, peace crumbled, and fell apart. Anima went mad with Shadow Rot, having consumed far too many tainted hearts in his battle, and in his madness, turned on the very people he was made to protect, and those who created him. Everthing he touched crumbled, fell to his bloodlusting rampage and thirst for destruction. The Spiritus and Witch towns of Poena Privus were all but destroyed by their savior.

At last, his rampage came to an end when the Nine Heroes confronted the spectral warrior, and imprisoned his soul into the body of a mere girl. In order to keep anyone from rousing his spirit again, and to keep the darkness caged, they laid a curse upon what became known as the Riftwood, and the ruins of Poena Privus. Time left the land, and those remaining in it--still locked in violent battle--fell into a dreamless slumber.

Centuries passed, and still, time would not return to those cursed lands. Time ticked away in the rest of the world as it tends to do, and history turned into superstition, and was all but lost, when the curse finally faltered. Trapped souls began to stir once more, waking as if from deep sleep to a land that had long forgotten them, and the dry, sadistic laughter of a resurrected tyrant echoed across the ruins of Poena Privus. Somehow, someway, the One-Eyed Demon King had been revived. Darkness again began to spread and suffocate the light. Shadow Rot began to consume people who came in contact with the darkness, turning the good into evil, and sapping the life from the weak as darkness slowly began to spread.

"Where are your heroes, now?" he laughed as he beheld the remnants of destruction left by his slaughter. "I want their delicious hearts...and the heart of that accursed abomination, Anima! I will make all of humanity equal....One pile of decaying flesh is no different than the next, afterall."

Those calling themselves Legion emerged from the Riftwood, hungry for hearts and the very lives of the living, intent on finding the incarnations of the Nine Heroes to realize their master's malevolent schemes. They were followed hence by those calling themselves Nightmares, proud and strong dark knights seeking their once king, pleading with others to help them reclaim their lost and cursed realm. But what of Anima, and the maiden who became his sacrifice and cage to his soul? Would he be revived once more to raise arms against the evil Spiritus King, and if so, would his resurrection mean our salvation, or ensure our destruction?

Even the brightest candle casts a dark shadow.

✥ About Stages ✥

Growth Request Thread

TIER I -

100 HP
Among humans, there are those who have a stronger grasp of magic than others. They are witches, skilled in the manipulation of mana and magical arts. At this stage of their life, many are rough around the edges and need training and schooling to hone their abilities and skills and become truly acknowledged for their magic. This is the training phase. Many Tier I characters will be Makai Academy students, but you may also quest for characters who do not participate at the academy, should you choose. Most premades will be Academy Students. This stage is on a template, and only available to witches and majin.

TIER II -

150 HP
Those at this stage have far greater ability than those at Tier I. They are now masters of their magic and skills, though may still be training to ascend their current boundaries and become even stronger. This is the stage that a character truly falls into what they will become, be it a summoner, an ice elemental, a curse-bound necromancer, a maid at the castle practicing dark arts to steal
the crown, or a wizened professor at Makai Academy, etc. This stage is unique, thigh-up art. Spiritus, Cerberus Knights, Legion, and Nightmares begin on this stage.

TIER III -

200 HP
This is the highest level a character can attain, and characters at this stage are extremely powerful, skilled, or wise. Their abilities often transcend what a normal character may think possible. This stage is full-body unique art.

50 HP
For breedings only. Currently cannot grow, but this may change in the future.

Bottled Fairy
Nobody knows who put it in there, but it seems very useful. These are rarities that can either grant you half of your roleplay page requirements (For any stage) or can be used instead of the 30 star tokens for the special optional stage.


Star Tokens
This is the special 'currency' used in LH for certain events. You can earn them by being active and getting them through give-aways and mini-games and such. Owners are kept track of in guild. c:
