Now that you're here i'm betting your wondering what the heck an Epee is and for that i have a simple explanation and a long explanation. In short an Epee is a 4 inch human chess piece that can be used for Roleplaying, Breeding and Different group events like wars. They have stats for there fighting that can be leveled up through skill points which makes them stronger and more desirable in battle. Rather then the normal two sides in the world of epees there are 4 factions. these factions are The Red, black, blue and white factions. each faction has one ally and two enemies which is ever changing as politics change.

Some Epees even come with responsibilities, King piece Epees are responsible for the battle tactics used during wars and have the final say of what piece moves where. Along with basic pieces like pawns rooks and knights there is one extra type of piece called the Chess Masters. These pieces do not have to stick to one alignment and are usually extremely powerful like a monarch piece but with out the Responsibilities. The rarity of the Epees go as follows Pawn (female), Pawn (male), Rook (female), Rook (male), Knight (female), Knight (male), Bishop(female), Bishop (male), Queen, King, Chessmaster (female), Chess master (male).

Epees are the cutest chess pieces around. Each epee is based on a different type of chess piece. there are pawns, rooks, knights, bishops, queens, kings, chess masters and the oracle. There is a lot that goes in to each piece class and some even have special advantages. note: each member can only have 3 active epees in the group at a time. See death and retirement section of the rules of war for more details

Pawns: the most numerous and common pieces. These pieces usually don't have any special birthright and they can rarely go past the rank of night. they can not learn magic until they are either a level 30 or have become a rook.

Rooks: While it is first in line with the ability to learn magic they rarely are born with the ability to use magic. most rooks that can use magic are leveled up pawns. These pieces have a better chance of having a birthright but the chances are still slim. Rooks are usually solid defenders and have High Hp. Rooks are very slow moving though and can not have mounts.

Knights: Knights are often born with some kind of magic whither or not they use it is a different story though. The more of the knight section focuses on physical attacking rather then magic. Knights have High mobility due to the fact that they are the only piece that are allowed to have a mount beside the queens. Knights have notoriously low defense despite their strong attack and usually have mid to high range HP due to their combat experience.

Bishops: Bishops are usually pure magic users and healers. They are considered a light weight class and because of that it allows for them to travel quickly by foot. While there magic is strong there ability to physically attack is low to mid range at best and have low Hp due to a low pain tolerance. that being said they have mid to high rage defense and are one of the only pieces that are able to attack from a mid range distance. these are the first pieces with court responsibility. there job is to advice the king and in time where it is necessary they will be call on to vote for or against the kings action. this system is used to keep the King in check.

Queens: Do NOT piss these pieces off. Not only are they strong but they have very high political say in what happens in the kingdom. Steal their man? that's ok you could just end up in the dungeon for a few months, at the point of their sword in a duel, going to war every time rather then being spared and put into the training camps or even exiled. Luckily you can only be exiled with the kings consent who then has to get the ok of at least 2/3rd of the bishops in the kingdom. Anyways she's powerful on and off the field, the only problem is that they have a very low defense stat and if she acts too brashly all the time her citizens can contact the oracle to over throw her by demoting her status and replacing her with another that is better suited for the position. in the absence of a king the queen will go to the court of bishops directly for there vote. queens can acquire mounts through events or contests. Note: Queens do not have to be married to the king, they are a separate position, kinda like president and vice president.

Kings: The Rulers of each faction. these pieces are in charge of the court of bishops and make very important decisions for their faction. They decide when wars are started by contacting to oracle and requesting permission to use the war zone. They decide who is the enemy and who they are aligned with. The king decided if they are peaceful or war loving. there are a few things that the king needs to get permission in the form of a 2/3 favorable vote from the court of bishops about. such as, exile, jailing, and attacking an ally. The king must contact the Oracle for permission to preform executions. The king is a fierce fighter and a force to be reckoned with. outside of the war he can duel and spar with who ever he likes how ever in war only kings can fight kings. Kings have High Defense average HP average attack and Low mobility making battles between kings rare. Kings control the flow of battle. they choose who moves and where.

ChessMasters: the rouges of the Epee world. they do not have to hold allegiance to a single faction. they may switch once a month at the most though they do need to give a good reason. Treason and being a spy counts as a good reason. These pieces are not to be trusted. they could turn at any point even in the middle of a battle if they are persuaded to do so and have not switched sided in a month. Chess masters can be either master weapon wielders or master magic wielders not both. they have high HP and attack or magic, mid range defense but low mobility. Chess masters can not become kings or queens because of there ability to switch factions. What is the advantage of the chess master then you ask? these pieces have direct contact to the oracle. this can allow them to have blessing for future marriages, change the gender ratio for there future child and even give them a chance to have there child be blessed with birth rights which will allow there children to have the ability to become King or Queen if leveled up enough.

The Oracle: Like the queen, do not Piss off the oracle. she is the Queen of the War zone which is uninhabited. The oracle allows the other four factions of the land to wage war on her land if she receives a request. Her existence is often feared because when she appears the wars starts soon after. This fear leads to pretty crazy rumors one of which is that she can control time, erasing and creating events in the timeline. though even if she could know one would truly know for sure.

Another crazy rumor is that chess masters are the children of the Oracle. this however is impossible considering most chess masters are as old if not older then the oracle. That is impossible right?

Some say that the oracle is not blind rather she keeps her eyes wrapped so she can see the future better and that If she sees a personal threat in her future she removes her bandages so she can concentrate on the present. while this is all speculation because no one has ever really met the Oracle one thing is true. she show up to watch the wars from a distance, and she's always smiling. She isn't a chess piece, she is the board. as such there can only be one.

There is not much to say about Epees, they are a race of small 4 inch tall people who live in a war torn world. the 4 factions are rarely ever completely at piece with one another leaving resources scarce and warriors valuble. a history of the wars will be added here as they occur. and eventually get it's own journal if it gets too big.

As mentioned in the discription Epees are able to breed. female epees are provided with breeding facts like gender ratio and how many kids they can have. Pregnancy lasts for 2 months, during this time the Epees is not allowed to fight in wars or train. It is a mandatory sacrifice to have a child though.

Children grow up relatively quickly in the world of Epees. kinda like Sims with modified life range settings. A Epee is a new born for two weeks, a infant for another two weeks, a toddler for 3 weeks, and a child for 5 weeks. once Epees are Teenagers they are allowed to go into the training zone during times of war. they are teenagers for 2 months to make sure they are properly trained for war (2 months makes sure they go into training at least once. with out this their stats will be a bit low) after this the Epee ages at the owners will, they can stay a teenager or become an adult.

so lets get the the birds and the bees.

Opposite Gender Couples:
luckily for Epees infertility is not a problem. Each female can have 1 to 3 children. even though the birds and bees are pretty clear for this section there are still options and rules for each option. First off send out a baby announcement biggrin draw your female Epee pregnant, with a pregnancy test, telling someone they're the father, anything to get the point across that your female is now out of commission for two months. in a month and a half the oracle will send you the stats for your new born boy or girl. this is where you have two options you can either design your own child or pay the oracle to design your new born Epee for 15million gold, this includes new born, baby, child and teenager pictures then a final reference sheet for when the epee has become an adult (or stayed a teen). Just contact the oracle ahead a time and let her know that you want her to do that for you.

Same Gender Couples:
There are Three ways that same gender couples can have children the first is Adoption. If an opposite gender couple decides that they do not want the child they gave birth to they can send it to the Oracle to be adopted by another couple. It is a sad day when a child is abandoned but even these children can have a good family. There is no fee for adoption. smile

The second option is to find a donor. same gender couples can enlist the help of any willing opposite gendered party to have a child note that the child will only gain one of the parents traits this way along with some wild card traits from the donor. This can requires a lot of sacrifice from the donor because pregnant Epees are not allowed to train or fight until the child is born and does take away one of there potential children from their counter if they are a female. It is not unreasonable for a donor to ask for some small form of payment, Especially a female donor who has to give her time and one of her potential children. however this fee should not be excessive.

The third and Final way for a same gender couple to have a child is to have The oracles blessing. The oracle will use her magic to take traits of both parents to make their child at the small fee of 3.5 million gold. like the opposite gender couple they can choose to design their own child or pay the oracle to design there child also. The only reason the oracle charges for this circumstance is to make sure that the other options where at least considered first.

Interfaction breeding
Interfactional breeding is possible between both couple types although there are a few more rules with this option.
ok so the rules for interfactional children are first, that the monarch cant find out who the father is until after the child is a teenager. you can't do birth announcements it has to be kept secret. if the monarch finds out about it when it's a baby they can choose to kill or banish (very low survival rate) the child will always join the mothers faction and does not get to know the father so at some point they may have to fight. inter faction marriage is at this point illegal unless the monarchs vote to make it legal between an ally factions. (each faction can only have one ally to prevent a super power alliance) If the mother is a bishop or higher the child cant be raised by her in order for her to hold her position. Adoption is one option to consider for this rule. However to keep the child she'd have to drop a rank. (bishop would become a knight queen would become a bishop etc.) Chess masters are exempt from this since they can switch factions.

Putting your Baby up for adoption
Did you get a girl when you wanted a boy? Is having a child too much of a burden? Want to join to war but cant cause your Epee is pregnant? Then adoption might be the right choice for you and the baby. There is no fee for putting your child up for adoption. you can cancel your current pregnancy and they child will be put up for adoption after the rest of the gestation time. Note: if you put your child up for adoption for any reason you can not adopt them later, they are no longer yours.

Initiating war is fairly simple once a month each faction is allowed to engage in a war totaling to 2 wars a month at the most for my sanity. @_@ All that has to happen is the King or Active Queen piece has to send a request for war to the Oracle by sending a note to the group saying why you want to wage war and what faction you want to fight. after that the Oracle will send both faction leaders involved a list of dates that are available for war. the kings have to work together to choose a day that works for them and their pieces. the war commences whither or not each side has other pieces so make sure the date is good for your fellow faction members as well.

Wars work as followed each faction goes to there faction chat room which at the time will be considered their side of the field or their barracks. from there the king can discuss with his fellow faction members what moves should be made each turn with out knowing what the other faction is planning. once a decision has been made the king states his final decision by putting the text in bold. just like in real chess only one piece can be moved at a time. how ever unlike chess stats have a large effect on who wins the battle along with the weapon balance.

Weapon balance: swords are strong against lances, lances are strong against axes, Axes are strong against swords. Archers can only attack from one space away and avoid direct combat.

Magic balance: Nature beats light, light beats dark, dark beats nature.

- nature balance: fire/lightning beats earth/plant magic, Earth/plant is strong against water/ice, water/ice beats fire/lightning

- Dark magic: hexes beat enchantments, enchantments beat curses, curses beat hexes

-Light magic: hymns beat spells, Spells beat blessings, Blessings beat hymns

To keep the wars moving in a timely manner once one faction has put in there decision for the round the other faction has 5 minutes to finalize there plan and submit their move. once both sides have finished an updated game board will be posted in the main chat showing what changed.

Battles will also occur in the main chat. these battle will be determined by the Epees stats and whither the Epee withdraws after taking sever damage or fights until retirement. once battles are finished the next round begins and kings work on planning their next move.

Death does not occur unless the owner of the Epee will is. They have to say that their character dies in combat or otherwise for it to be official. Their opponent does not get to say if the epee they are fighting dies. The Oracle is not allow to say an Epee died in combat with out the permission of the epees owner. she can how ever call for a moment of silence for the deceased. those who do not observe the moment of silence willingly will be put in the corner of shame for 5 minutes where they are unable to send messages at all until released.

why would you want an Epee to be "dead?" well that's because each member can only have 3 living and active epees at a time. you can own more but only 3 can be used in the group at a time. once an Epee has been activated the only way to deactivate them is for them to die. Children are considered inactive but if you want to activate the Epee you receive from breeding you have to have one of your three slots available.

If you want to keep the Epee but they lost all of there HP in battle they can Retire instead. If the owner of the Epee is careless and pushes there Epee to fight a opponent or multiple opponents with out healing can risk having their HP reaching zero. this means the Epee can no longer train or fight wars but is still allowed to breed and be used as a Role play character in the group. They can take up a different profession even. While this may seem unfair this is to prevent "tanking" where one epee is over used to the point they destroy the entire enemy faction. Ganging up on a threat is allowed, this happens in real battle all the time.

Healing can only occur before the battles begin for the round not during or after. The only exception is for in personal Role playing between members. In an official war though, that's a no-no. The amount of Hp recovered is based on the healing stat of the bishops brought into battle. while each faction is allowed to have more then 2 bishops only 2 can be put on the field. As such only two units can be healed at the beginning of each turn. the Bishop has to be within 2 tiles of the unit it wants to heal.

Eventually there will be more pieces then can be taken with to war. those pieces go into an extra training session for the month where they receive 2 stat points that the owner can put toward the Epees stats how ever they see fit. To balance this Epees that get to go to war only receive 1 point.

as mentioned this is an extra training session every epee goes through training every month giving them 2 stat points to be added to what ever stat the owner see fit. However these points will only be awarded if the member submitted at least one piece of art that month.(filling out a meme or creating a meme template counts) Every month a journal will go out announcing who gets points. after 3 points have been earned the Epee can go up 1 level. The Oracle has a book with all Epee stats in it so she'll know if you added points when you shouldn't have.

Also as mentioned not all epees go to war each side is only allowed to have the following amounts of the following pieces.
Pawns: 8
Rooks: 2
Knights: 2
Bishops: 2
Queens: 1
Kings: 1
Chess Masters: 3
The orcale: While powerful this piece does not fight in wars, she only watches. the only time she'll ever consider joining in a war is if she finds out that one side has been cheating.

A: Yes you can smile I offer custom Pawns and Rooks of both gender. if you don't feel like waiting for an auction then that would be a good route. Just copy the following order form:

Q: What is a reasonable offer for a custom Epee?

A: Another good question smile On -blank- where this species originated i'd sell custom pawns for -blank- and custom rooks for -blank-. the -blank- ratio on -blank- was -blank- to one U.S.dollar. so if you want to pay cash for one (doubt it) a good offer would be between $3 and $3.5 dollars. But we're on Gaia so you'll probably prefer to pay in gold yes? Well this is where things get a little trick. there isn't a gold to dollar ratio for me to use so i had to make one based on the average amount of gold i get per gaia cash from a gold generator. My calculations totaled that at 5 million to every dollar. Ouchy, that inflation. so a really good I wont refuse offer would be between 15 and 17.5 Million gold. since that stick to the value ratio, how ever you may offer less but that runs the risk of me Rejecting the offer.
