1.) No Godmodding/Godmoding: You aren't allowed to have superpowerful or otherwise unbeatable characters without Moderator approval first. So no characters that can control the blood in an opponents body, no immortal and cosmically powerful fallen angel, no characters whose special super power is to never die or to always come back. Unless, as I said, you have Moderator approval.
-1a.) Story Arc Characters: Some characters, either created by mods or approved by them, are villains or heroes who are
meant to be way more powerful than you alone. These characters are often villains, but they are aren't always. People have to work together to beat them, and often times an Arc Character will not be defeated until the end of the story arc they are a part of. Think of them likes Bosses in a video game if you have to. These characters
must have moderator approval.
2.) Respect the Moderators: This is not optional, and I don't want it to be argued with. If you have a problem with the way one of the Moderators is acting you will send a PM to
this account, Unlimited Lunar Chosen, detailed your problem and providing a page number or a link to where the incident occurred. It will then be reviewed by the other Moderators and a decision will be made. Don't get riled up in the thread about a problem you have, and don't get bitchy with the Mods.
-2a.) Be Polite: This particular rule shouldn't even have to be said, but apparently there are some people who exist in this world who think that if it isn't up in the rules, they don't have to do it. Obviously, they are allowed to be dicks to people if there's nothing in the rules about playing nice, right? [/Sarcasm] So it's been made an official rule that you will be polite to other players as well as respect and be polite to the Mods. We're not going to tolerate the disrespect and the rudeness, we don't want to waste our days screaming.
3.) Get Mod Approval for changing the story: This is important. If you want to make a sub-plot, a mini-arc, or do anything that affects the whole world or a huge portion of the city or something, talk with a Moderator about it
first. And don't tell them "I'm doing this.", say "This is what I'd like to do, I was wondering if it was okay." If you are told that it isn't okay the way it is, respect that decision. More often than not the Moderator in question will tell you
why your idea doesn't jive and try to compromise with you on it.
-3a.) Respect other player's backstories: Don't put yourself into someone else's story, and don't act like you've known someone's character all their life if you didn't stop to ask first (and get approval from them, mind you) because
that will get you a ban faster than you can say "OH SHI-" If you want to be a part of a character's backstory, try to work it out with the player. If they're not willing, then maybe it's time to give it up and let that ship sail, ya?
4.) Make the difference between OoC Chatter clear from RP: Use brackets or double parenthesis to denote Out of Character (OoC) talk. Roleplaying (RP) In Character (IC) should be written out in full sentences, use quotations for speech, italic or apostrophes for thought, and use proper punctuation wherever possible.
--OoC Examples: (( OoC Text )) [ OoC Text ] [[ OoC Text ]] { OoC Text }
--Sentence Examples: (3rd Person Writing) Mary lifted her shoulders in a shrug and shook her head tiredly.
(1st Person Writing) Mary lifts her shoulders in a shrug and shakes her head tiredly.
--Speech Example: "This is how you talk In-Character!" Mary shouted.
--Thought Examples: (Apostrophes) 'Wow, I'm really getting ahold of using thought in RP,' May thought to herself.
(Italics)
Some people use italics for stressing a word, but I like to use it to denote thought in roleplaying, Mary thinks, scratching her chin.
--Punctuation Examples: (Period) The brunette smiled and said, "Hello, I'm Mary."
(Coma) "Hello, I'm Mary," said the brunette, smiling.
(Exclamation Point) "Hey, I'm Mary!" shouted the brunette with an excited smile.
(Question Mark) The brunette smiled a little and said, "I'm Mary, and you are?"
-4b.)People who use the word 'irregardless' will be ignored immediately.
5.) Follow Gaia's Terms of Service: This is pretty simple. No trolling, no cybering, no phishing, etc.
6.) IC disputes stay IC: This is another of those rules that shouldn't have to have any explanation, but for some reason beyond us requires one. If your character is having an argument with another character and it is getting heated, that should not translate to an Out of Character fight. Just because your character is mad that the other one thinks or speaks or acts a certain way doesn't mean you should be mad at the player of that character. And for that matter, being mad at a player for how they think and feel shouldn't translate to your character having a grudge against theirs.
7.) Have Fun!
