You would have thought that a battered and war-torn veteran of war and torture with a homicidal voice in his skull would react a bit better to the word surprise.

You would be mistaken.

As suddenly Nathan had been casually creeping on Layla, he suddenly vanished with a quick flap of leather, and dove beneath a table without so much as an additional word. There he crouched, frantically eyeing everybody int he room for a good ten seconds before he re-emerged, clutching a plastic knife in a death grip as if it would have saved him.

With everything in order it wasn’t hard for the rock star to melt back into that star studded persona, however he did take a glance back at the maid who had been sent to be his baby sitter, just to make sure she wasn’t in pain. He couldn’t help it when it came to cute mousy women… or big busty women who said they could do wonderful and amazing things for just a few moments with him… he was a sucker for the ladies. Shaking his head, the Star looked ahead at the door, things were set and now just waiting for the big moment. Saxon didn’t know who it was that he was playing for but he figured when he saw her he would know, and much to not his surprise he was right. From the massive doors leading into this big hall came a small squadron of people all flanking a single girl who was holding hands with another. Either could have been the one he was here to play for but he had a good idea which of the two it was, but also it didn’t matter because he wasn’t going to go over there and say ‘Happy Birthday’ to either of them. His job was to be on stage and do the music thing. Without hesitation though why they invited a rock star like him to play happy birthday he wouldn’t know, however he would play the song how he thought it should be played. The instant the pick left the strings this was not going to be your average birthday anthem. The Song* roared out from the speakers and echoed down the halls in a none to dignified or fancy manner, but it was Saxon who was playing after all. Despite many dirty looks from European aristocracy the hard rock musician just enjoyed what he did and when it was over and cake was passed out the mood would change. He figured he wouldn’t get paid if he didn’t do it their way.
Stepping back after the main theme song for the night he just joined in with the rest of the band and played something a little more fitting to the crusty people all around him. If this was European high class he figured he was better off back in the states doing what he did best, but for now this was his adventure to see to the end.

"No time to dawdle..."

As much of a liking Titania had taken to the child she also understood, even though it was not in her nature to do so, that the child was but so and therefor needed friends of similar age or species. The Fae Queen kept her slight jealousy to herself when the child’s hand slipped from her own to go follow along with someone else of small stature and mental age. The Summer Queen let that empty hand fall to her side as her steps slowed, such brilliant green eyes focused on the child as she took hold of another. It took but a moment for Titania to compose herself, that empty hand now slid back behind her back and clasped with the other as she stood tall and straight. If not for the color to her skin others might confuse her for a vampire, tall and slender with such calculated movements. Her ears were also the other dead giveaway that she was the one that wasn’t like the others.
Titania monitored the banter between the two children and the devout butler, her mind barely remembering the fact that there were indeed others in the hallway with her. Lightly she shook her head, pressing her fingers into her temple to ease a slight head ache that had only just begun, though it would not go far as she attempted to let the situation go. This was not her realm and though she felt entitled to the girl on this day of days it was not of this realms nature. With the others she filed into the hallway as everyone hollered their surprise for the girl, it was about damn time someone remembered this child on this day of days. In her realm the child would have been doted on from the moment of her awakening to the moment her eyes closed for a night’s rest, someone constantly there to give praise and thanks for her life in this world and the magic she brought with it. But alas, she was a vampire and not a Fae Lady, even if she could be.
The music that played was a little odd and not exactly to her liking. Being a Fae Queen she gave no notice of her distain for the terrible music of choice and instead sat down where she was motioned to and placed her hands pleasantly in her lap and waited for the thunderous noise to cease and something else to flourish. Moments later a servant placed a piece of cake before her along with a utensil to eat it with, instead she fed her eyes as she took a look around the room, silently judging it for its poor execution. She wasn’t being cruel it was just how the Fae were, if you truly wanted a celebration come to the fae realm and experience one. For now she would wait and see, lightly picking at the confection set before her.

This perhaps was not one of the strangest people that Layla had ever come into contact with, though he was now upon the list of such beings. Bored the voluptuous woman took another glance to him as he decided to take his perch upon the wall just beside her, even if the soak in the tub had helped her quite a bit she still did not feel in such a mood to entertain others for reasons that did not benefit her. The living were selfish like that. Blinking those dark purple orbs at him it seemed he was at one point stuck in the dungeon below and had released himself, that would account for the dead. Glancing to the other side she took note of the guardsman at the entrances and of the man in charge of the guard who was eyeing the musician with suspicion. One word and he could be over here attempting to wrangle with the mad man. Yet he had said something rather interesting to the M.E. That she appeared bored and may enjoy running around with someone living and potentially losing her new job.
”If you are seeking the way out a window will get you there, though if you are asking for my professional opinion… it would be in your best interest if you didn’t make a scene.”
No she wasn’t going to follow him, sure this event bored her but it wasn’t for any reason other than she forgot in her formerly drunken stupor that she did not like social gatherings, they irked her and always she had felt out of place. People bothered her and that was why she enjoyed the dead, they didn’t do such nonsensical things. Stepping away from the wall she put her hands in her back pockets as she listened to the birthday begin, her eyes wondering around for a moment and halting upon the doctor. It was because of him that she had even come but he was a center piece in this fixture, she was merely another body to fill the space. This was pointless. Shaking her head, she motioned for the man to follow but he had disappeared. Lightly shrugging her shoulders, she held back the wince that followed and just left the room to allow the party to continue as it would even if she had stayed. No one would notice her departure.
Layla returned to the only place that she felt she belonged. Though before getting there she paused at the young nurse’s desk finding the miniature zombie within the small terrarium bumping into the glass, he had calmed down quite a bit. Giving a faint smile at the former lover… to see him in such a silly place… she continued on to her section where the dead were kept and just sat down in her chair and began to go over paperwork. Particularly the stack that had been given to her by the Doctor upon her Employment.

Yumi Millard - 11 yr old Vampire Twin Princess

Yumi wondered who she would dance with first? THe music first was quite different from what she is used to hearing as the birthday anthem came. Normally she is used to brass and strings, but this is probably one of the new firsts in hearing a guitar like that. She gave the band her thankful claps and then looked at the adults around. No boys her age, this would be difficult. SHe did turn to Meastro and held her hand out. "Mr Maestro, would you..dance with me?" she said. She owed much to him and felt that he would get to dance with her first. She looked around to the others. "Dance together?" she said, not wanting just the two of them to be in the center for the dancing. Yumi took Maestro's hand to the ballroom floor and listened to how the band would play and went to dance to the tune though with slow movements as she isn't used to dancing, both in practice and to the type of tune he is playing.

·.·´¯`·.·Christine, maid·.·´¯`·.·

Christine sat in the wings of the stage, a bemused smile on her lips at the final touches were set for the big performance. Her smile brightened when Saxon glanced back at her, she hoped he wasn't worried about her. From the sudden cheer that rose from the ballroom, Christine assumed the princess had finally arrived.

After the crowd settled down, Saxon stepped up to the mic and began his song. Christine's eyes widen slightly from Saxon's version of la chanson de joyeux anniversaire. She couldn't help but giggle a little. The song was short and sweet, Christine applauded with the others in the crowd then rose from her chair to greet Saxon.
"Well done," She was a little wobbly on her feet but managed to stand in place without wincing. "Would you like me to get you a refreshment?" Her cheeks were flushed slightly from the warmth the overhead lights gave off.

"Tell me something beautiful,
Oh tell me something real."

"Tell me no more make believe,
I just want to feel."
"Tell me something beautiful..."

Adrienne had moved away from the door to the ballroom, standing off to the left. She watched the crowd of guests mingle with one another. Her emerald gaze flicked to the tall blond performer who was getting ready. Though her attention didn't linger, she sensed the presence of her beloved. Adrienne smiled brightly at him and waved to him. "Oh well done, Gabriel."

She wondered where Yumi could be and was beginning to worry when her little charge entered the ballroom with a group in toe. The whole room cheered Surprise! and best wishes. Adrienne joined in the clapping, tears filled her eyes, it was wonderful to see Yumi so happy. Gabriel, self appointing himself as party marshal, made the according announcements and their attention was then turned to the stage. Yumi, of course was front and center.

Saxon, as she found out later, put on quite a performance. Adrienne stifled a giggle fit at the sour faces of the older generation. Yumi seemed to be enjoying herself and polite applause went up to the singer. More traditional music filled the room and people began to dance. Adrienne made her way on the outskirts of the crowd to Gabriel.

¨°o.O Pascal la Fantôme O.o°¨

"I was born without this fear,
xxxxxxNow only this seems clear..."

Pascal moved into the ballroom with feline grace, her

golden eyes roaming over the guests within. All of them basking in the birthday bliss. Many were well dressed and wearing exquisite jewels. She sighed ruefully, "Ah merde, Lulu wouldn't forgive me if pilfered from her party..."

Taking a step aside, Pascal eyes focused on a tall, blond gentleman who was announcing Yumi's arrival. A playful smile formed on her dark lips as she sized him. Pascal didn't linger, her feline gaze focused on the other handsome party goers. "Oh la la, so many to choose from." She glanced back at Yumi who was thoroughly loving the attention, "Ah oui a girl after my own heart." Pascal mused silently, she looked above Yumi's head to her escort for the evening. Maestro was dressed quite exquisitely, he was the only one in the room wearing a mask.

"How ironic..." Sadness crept into Pascal features. She couldn't help but stare at the mask and wonder if the face beneath was still the same. Finally Pascal tore her gaze away, following the others as the deliciously looking singer began his song.

"Oh Lulu, you are just perfect." It was so like her forward thinking friend to invite a rock singer to perform at a chateau in rural France. "Bravo~!" Pascal clapped merrily, her spirits lifted from their gloom at the sight of stuffy aristocrats' annoyed faces. She made a mental know to personally thank Saxon for an amusing evening.

I need to lose myself tonight."xxxxx

"You tried to convince yourself the people you hurt deserved it... you became numb to their pain and suffering."

Gabriel gave a sigh of relief as it appeared the party began its natural course, he wouldn't need to play "herald" that long it seemed. He was worried, on some level, that no one would dance unless they were ordered to. Why? Well he wasn't particularly sure himself, but paranoia that anything that could go wrong would was as much a part of his personality as the wolf was. As he stood to the side and gazed out at the party, Gabriel was almost shaken awake by the sound of... metal? Well he supposed it was to be expected given the musician, but really? Metal? Guy couldn't start just a regular birthday song? Ah well, at least guttural screaming wasn't involved... for now.

He began to walk through the throng of partygoers, trying his best to avoid a certain vampire, when he spotted Adrienne. Smiling, he approached her swiftly--even shoving past a few people to get to her!--"Well I think I did well enough." He sighed out, once he was within earshot. "Though admittedly the transition from librarian to 'party herald' isn't too difficult." Grasping Adrienne's hands gently, a wry smile formed on his lips. "Now that all that formality's done though..." He entwined his fingers with hers, "Did I ever tell you I used to have a dance instructor?" In truth his "instructor" was more or less an old partner of his, who claimed to be teaching him because "Vampires prefer old-fashioned ballroom parties" but really seemed more interested in watching Gabriel trip over himself a thousand times.
