It was only 5:3O in the evening, but Jack Acelin was already bored out of his mind. His classes had seem to have dragged on longer then necessary, his assignments were boring and most of his friends had left town for a concert a few towns over. If it was choice Jack would have gone as well, but his sister had been admitted into hospital and he didn't like the thought of leaving her. It didn't bother him though, later tonight Jack was sure that he would have a bit of fun, even if he didn't have any plans. The day was almost over, but it was still much too early to change into his 'Bitter Flame' costume. Until nightfall, it left Jack with nothing to do aside from homework. The male frowned at the thought, not enjoying the thought of doing his homework on a Friday when he still had a whole weekend to do it, but it was one of his few options.

Not in the mood to head back to his apartment, Jack lazily made his way to the closet Starbucks by campus. The building was only a few minutes away causing the man to arrive a bit sooner then he would have liked. With a sigh, he made his way to the cashier and quickly ordered an drink before heading towards his favorite seat. It was a large, and obviously comfortable, chair. It was right next to the window, allowing him to watch the cars that drove by and the people who were on the sidewalk. The young man was quick to take out a couple of his textbooks and once they were all placed down on the table in front of him, he began on one of his math assignments. Math had always been one of his favorite subjects, considering the fact that most of it were just patterns and formulas.

As he worked on his assignment, Jack popped in his headphones and began shuffling through his songs. Every so often he would glance up at glass and watch the people walk by with a frown on his mouth. The city was too big for him to recognize all of them, but he had seen a lot of things while living as Bitter Flame. Jack had originally wanted to be a superhero after he had received his "gift" but after being thrown into a world of crime-fighting, Jack realized that half of the people he stumbled on didn't necessarily deserve any mercy. He hadn't killed anyone yet, but he had been quick to hurt them however he could. The last man he had fought, had been burn to a crisp and according to the newspapers, he was still in the hospital recovering. Jack had attacked him a little over a month ago and that man had been the last one that Jack had attacked. He didn't really feel guilty, but the blonde didn't want to create a habit of burning people alive, so instead he had begun watching criminals and tipping the police in their direction or breaking into homes and stealing a couple of things here and there. It really just depended on his mood. Tonight, Jack knew that he would be in the mood for a thrill, so he would probably be breaking in somewhere and stealing again.

A gloss-black Jaguar XF rolled up and a tall, thin blonde girl stepped out. She walked into the coffee shop with a her phone to her ear and skipped two people in line to arrive at the counter before taking off her shades. Vally tapped on her phone then returned it to her ear as she ordered a drink.

”Venti Iced Skinny Hazelnut Macchiato, Extra Shot, No Whip.”

A droning operator spoke over the phone to Valerie and she tapped her phone once more before noticing the barista was looking at her. ”Is there a problem?” Vally asked snobbishly. The employee said something about there being a line and Valerie just ignored her. ”Ugh, you could have had my order by now.” Valerie groaned while pulling out a fifty dollar bill as she slouched on the counter. ”b***h, are you here to talk or make drinks?” She asked while raising the phone to her ear. She was checking her bank account through an automated system to see how rich she was today. There may have been an extremely large shopping spree that took place yesterday. In the moment Valerie was not concerned with how much money she spent. Now she wanted to check the damage. It was a significant amount but not in terms of percentage. "Finally." Vally placed her shades around her neck then grabbed her drink and walked away. "Keep the change," she said with snark, making her way to a table with some guy and his books.

"Move over," she ordered but didn't give him time to actually do so. She shoved his papers to make a space where she could sit cross-legged on the table and watch people through the window. Valerie sipped her iced macchiato and sighed. Her day had been pretty bland. Lecture after lecture, just boring talking and papers. She was a sophomore now, wasn't it time for college to not suck so hard? Oh well, there was always the nighttime parties and stuff to look forward to. Valerie looked down at the books she was sitting on, a puzzle on her face. It looked like numbers or something. "What class is that?" she asked dumbly before sucking down more creamed and icy sugar.

As the worked on some of the different equations, Jack failed to notice the blonde girl who had entered the coffee shop, cut the line and then make her way to his spot. "Move over." It was only then that Jack noticed a tiny blonde in front of him. The dirty blonde had taken a quick glance at her, but before he could actually grab his papers or textbooks or even respond, the girl who had spoken had already pushed his things to the side and sat down. It he had been anyone else, Jack might have found the whole thing rude and annoying, but he was actually use to this. As a college jock, Jack often found himself in the party crowd. His guy friends were rough and tough while his girl friends were often snobby and stuck up.

Curious to see who had spoken to him Jack glanced up, almost lazily, only to see Valerie Grace in front of him. He didn't really know her, but he had seen her around on campus and at different parties at school. If that wasn't enough to recognize her, Jack could also say that he had heard a lot about her from his friends. Everyone always seem to have something to say about her and their opinions were always different. Some of his guy friends thought she was a b***h, but some of his best mates were constantly trying to get her attention. If John could see them now, there was no doubt that the red-head would probably try to murder Jack on the spot since Valerie refuse to acknowledge him.

His blue eyes shifted away from her and moved across the store scanning the area. Their were plenty of open seats and a few good ones by the window, so why she had decided to sit in front of him left him slightly confused but he wouldn't question it. Valerie could do as she pleased, as long as his homework got started on.

Without anther word, Jack dropped his eyes back to the assignment on his lap and began to work on his next problem. He was already half way done and then after that he had to start working on a few essays. "What class is that?" The jock blinked quietly, before sending her a small but charming smile. "It's just Calculus." He halted his movements, and leaned back before taking a sip of his espresso. With that, Jack finally turned down his music, knowing that Valerie would probably speak up again. "Have you taken Calculus yet?" He knew he didn't have any classes with her, but he was curious to see if she what she took.

                                                                  outfit ;; click the link

Well, of course Valerie had to go bother someone in the most obnoxious way. It wasn't like she needed to have someone's attention on her at all times or anything. The last thing she wanted to do was sit alone in a corner solemnly reading the paper. Eww. Instead this cute guy was the recipient of her graceful presence. Guys were fine but Vally mostly went for girls more often than not. "Huh?" Valerie blinked. Her gaze left the window where people were walking passed the coffee shop and fell back to the guy. Did she recognize him from somewhere? This was probably the Jack she had heard of. Strong and fast, dreamy to some and heartthrob to others. Valerie licked her finger and eyed him, realizing he had spoken to her. "Calculus?" Valerie made a face. She had no plans to take any math classes ever again. Probably didn't need it for her major. Or she was just putting it off. "I'd have to check with my adviser." she said before sipping her drink again. It didn't really answer the question at all but Valerie didn't care to talk about school any way.

Well, classes at least. There was a certain incident at the college that she had some questions about. Since then she found these abilities she never had before and rumors on campus suggested there were others like her. Valerie confided in some nerd guy and told him what she could do. He suggested the name 'Entropy' which was cool but not enough to ******** the guy or anything. "Hey, have you run into Merida recently?" she asked, gesturing towards him. She played with a bit of her hair absently, tips stained pinkish from when she dyed her hair a week ago. "She had this serum that changes people in weird ways..." Vally shrugged and resumed drinking her macchiato. She jumped down from the table and looked at him. "We're meeting at my house later to talk about what the hell is happening." Vally told him with a hand on her hip. She scanned him again and smirked. "You could come if you want."

Akari wasn't in the best of moods.

Her classes had been unusually long, a bit too boring and her powers had been all over the page. Despite the fact that Akari actually really liked the school environment, the redhead had been itching to leave campus ever since the day had begun. However, at the same time, Akari wasn't ready for her day to be over. Now that all of her classes were done, Akari would eventually have to be forced to visit Valerie Grace, along with a few other students in order to discuss their new superhero team. It was only Akari's second time visiting the new team, but to be honest it was a lot more then she could take. Powers and undercover fights weren't really a big deal to her, considering the fact that Akari had been adopted in to a family that belonged to an ancient ninja clan. Ever since she could walk, Akari had been trained to fight and defend others. When she was twelve, her father allowed her to join him in his crime fighting nights but Akari had always thought that once she was done with working alongside him, she would just leave to work on her own.

Except this time fate had a different plan.

Ever since Doll Face had attacked Akari, the college girl's life had been awkwardly thrown into a loop. The attack had happened in plain sight and to make matters worse Valerie had been around so Akari couldn't defend herself without exposing her nature. The serum had caused a rather painful change, gifting Akari with multiple powers she would have never thought that she could possess. At first she had been okay with it, but then her parents had exposed to her that Akari would be working with this new team in order to keep an eye on them.

At the thought, Akari gritter her teeth. It wasn't that she was anti-social, in fact Akari was quite the opposite, but it was just the fact that a team went against everything she had been taught. Valerie and Francis officially knew who she was and what she was, which in most cases would be considered taboo. As much as she liked them both, she didn't know them well enough to trust them. What if they told someone? Neither of them looked like the secret types. And the fact that both of her parents had willingly thrown her into a team that they knew nothing about, also made the redhead question them. Outsiders were not welcomed in their clan. The only reason Akari could stand alongside with her parents with the other ninja were because her parents were the head of the main family and no one would question them, no matter how badly they wanted to. She shook her head softly, before turning her eyes back up to clothing rack in front of her. At least she had a few hours to herself, which were officially going to be spent at the mall. Akari had been in the mood to go shopping now for quite some while and no one would be there to bother her... right?

At her face, Jack couldn't help but to let out a quiet chuckle. Math wasn't exactly a subject that most people liked. Unlike him, other students often found it to be too hard or too boring. The conversation however quickly went cold, when Valerie said something about her adviser. He shot her a curious look with a raised eyebrow, trying to figure out if she had been actually listening.

He, however, didn't bother on lingering on the subject. Despite enjoying mathematics, he was the typical college boy who had no real interest in school subjects when their were people around. He much preferred talking about other things and it appeared that Valerie did as well. When Valerie spoke up again, his eyes quickly lit up and he leaned slightly into her, hearing what she had to say. Merida wasn't a very common name, but he recognized it right away. Earlier in the school year, he and Merida had seen each other around during the college parties and in some of his classes. She was a really bright student with a seemingly good head on her shoulders but then one day, the tall blonde had just stopped showing up to school. For weeks their were rumors that she had been kidnapped and then murdered but, naturally, the rumors were just BS.

Just a few weeks after she had been missing, Merida appeared again on the television attacking others. Not only was she a killer now, but the sane girl had some sort of a crazy wide-eyed look to her. He knew exactly which serum that Valerie was talking about because Merida had attacked him one night in the park. No one had been around witness it and Jack had been sure that he had been going to die. Just as Valerie said, the serum had changed him, giving him rather weird powers that he still had a bit of trouble controlling. "Merida? Serum?" His eyes scrunched up in confusion, masking the fact that he really did know something. "I haven't seen Merida in a few weeks, sorry."

Lazily the male, shook his head before sending her a sheepish smile. "And I would love to go, but I have plans with a few friends. Besides, I don't think I would be too much help if I haven't experienced it." He shook his shoulders and then took a sip of his coffee. As much as he wanted to know who else was involved, his double life wouldn't allow it. He was using his powers to steal and hurt others and despite not feeling guilty, he didn't plan on letting anyone know what he was capable of.

                                                                  outfit ;; click the link
                                                                  Holy Dreamist

Steadfast Defender

"Missy, listen. You've been through more than what most normal girls would ever go through in their entire lives. And as your instructor and your unofficial parent. I really really really with a cherry on top.. recommend you take at least a day off. That means no coming here, no new jobs, and no visible weapons. Do you understand? Take it from me. Juggling a full time job job and a full time school is one of the most difficult things one can do.. especially when the job involves killing someone.. So please. At the least.. Take the day off.."

Those were the wise words of the Looker. The owner of the largest Black market in the world named Dark Waters, and her personal instructor for the past four years in the art of wet work. Personally Lily didn't want to take a break. In the past four years of training, studying, and killing men and women, She got used to her body getting tired, but it was a request of the Looker.. A man who was practically a father to her.. So she had very little choice. What was she going to do? More or less her entire life, Lily existed as a wall flower. The best wall flower in fact. She blended in so well, almost no one knew that she existed. Lily even used that to her advantage in her life and in her job of killing people for money, but how was she going to use that to take a day off? She never had a vacation before ever since she started her job. For the longest time Lily simply wandered around the city. her school assignments were completed and she got all her subjects down to the last letter, so studying wasn't going to be an option.

Lily wandered and thought for a very long time, weaving through the crowd subconsciously. After a while she stumbled across the mall. It's been a very long time since Lily actually entered the interior of the mall, most of the time she would use the roof to get to a higher vantage point. It was much more crowded inside the mall, but the young assassin didn't mind. No matter how thick the crowds were, she easily weaved through them. She even noticed a couple of students in her classes. Of course they never knew who she was, or whether she existed for that matter. Walking down the busy floor of the mall, she noticed one particular student, just across the floor.. What was her name again? Ahh yes, Akari Kage. Lily knew the name because she saw them a couple times on the attendance sheet. The young assassin lazily observed the girl. It looked like that the girl wasn't in her best mood, not that it mattered to Lily anyway. Lily quickly broke the one sided eye contact and continued to walk forward, towards Akari.

Just three steps before Lily could walk pass her, a surge of crowd rushed out of the stores, making the floor of the mall much more crowded. It was bad, Lily knew that there were two options. Stop and bump into a group of people, or walk the two steps and bump into Akari. The Assassin quickly calculated and weighed her options, and in the end decided to take the second option. Lily lightly bumped into Akari. "S-Sorry.." the black haired girl quickly and quietly apologized.

((Im going to make the post pretty soon, sorry about that sad ))

Raphael was running on fumes at this point. He was absolutely exhausted but it was only five thirty. Only. Five. Thirty. The young man groaned when he glanced at the clock again but he had to push through it, just like he always did. He was currently sitting behind the wheel of his car staring blankly at the street lights, just a block from Alicia's elementary school. Nearing the school zone, a smile tugged at Raph's lips. He slowly swung into the parking lot of the school and jumped out of the car, chirping it on the way to the door. He pushed open the front door, making sure to hold it open for the woman escorting her twins out before heading inside. A quick trip down the hall and there she was sitting and waiting patiently for him. Upon seeing her elder brother, Alicia grinned widely and jumped up to give him a hug. "Raphie!" she called out, jumping into his arms. Raphael groaned playfully as he hoisted her up onto his hip then turned to her teacher who was looking after the rest of the children who's parents or guardians weren't there yet.

"I'll see you again on Monday Raphael," she told him, patting him on the back before returning her attention to the kids. Raph gave them all a wave which most of them eagerly returned before he left with Alicia, carrying her to his car.

"Raphie? Are we still getting ice cream today?" she asked. Raphael set her down next to the car and opened up the door for her to let her inside. "You promised," she added throwing her puppy dog eyes at him. He was powerless to resist them and he had actually promised. He was tired but he didn't have to work that night. After the incident at the lab and the discovery of his powers and the other heroes, he made sure to rearrange his schedule to make time for the meetings. Besides, Alicia's positive energy and happiness made him feel less exhausted.

"Of course sweet pea," Raphael replied as he started up the car. He left the school zone and started for an ice cream parlor they frequented, the little girl chatting his ear off the whole way. He held her hand crossing the street when they arrived, bought a vanilla cone for himself and a strawberry cone with sprinkles for her then they sat outside the parlor at one of the tables. Alicia giggled trying to hide her smirk behind her cone before reaching across the table and bopping him on the nose after sticking her finger in her ice cream. "Oh nooooo! I've been defeated! Alicia how could you!? Strawberry ice cream on my nose is my only weakness! Aaaaaaahhhhhh!" he exclaimed, feigning hurt as he crumpled in his seat. Alicia erupted in a fit of giggles and he chuckled himself as he leaned up to wipe his face clean. His life had gotten so hectic so quickly and he relished these small moments of simple, clean joy. Alicia was after all his whole life. Raph was a pretty peaceful guy with pretty peaceful powers but should she ever be threatened, he wasn't sure what he'd do.

As Akari continued to move through the little shop, she would occasionally stop and grab an piece of clothing here and there. Very carefully, Akari would eye the item and then decide if she wanted it or not. Somehow, despite not being in the store for more then a few minutes, Akari had already ended up holding two dresses and a cute kimono jacket. At this rate, she was going to need to go up to the front of the store to get a basket. Normally she wasn't one to buy much, but with all the stress that she had been building up from crime fighting and working, Akari didn't mind splurging just this once. Quietly the young girl let out a hum, toying with a blouse in front of her.

"Oh!" Suddenly, Akari halted her steps before taking a quick glance at her phone. It was only 5:45 in the evening but Akari knew that she didn't have that much time to spare. As much as she wanted to stay in the shop until it closed, Akari still needed to eat before she arrived at Valerie's house and she needed to change into her uniform tonight. Ignoring the texts that she had, the redhead moved her slim fingers to her contacts and began to text one of the few people who would be at the rich girl's house later.

tab tab tab Are you and Francis meeting up before the meeting
tab tab tab or are you just going to meet at Val's house?

Despite not knowing the Francis or Val that well, Akari did feel a bit more comfortable around Raphael. He appeared to be a lot like her. Just down-to-earth and, well, quiet. As she slipped her phone back into her pocket, Akari frowned again. She was being a bit too judgmental but the feeling that their team was just bad new would not shake away. With a frustrated sigh, Akari began to turn around only for someone to bump into her. The action had been light, but the ninja had been so caught off guard that the movement caused her to stumble backwards a few steps.

Almost immediately, her dark blue eyes moved to the figure in front of her curious to see who had knocked into her. Her eyes peered at into the other woman, almost instantly recognizing her. She was a pretty little thing, with black hair and a uncomfortably dark aura that perked Akari's curiosity a lot more then she would have liked. "Oh no. It's no problem." She offered the black haired girl a charming smile and then spoke again. "To be honest it was my fault, I should have been paying attention." That wasn't really true, but being the naturally polite girl that she was, Akari almost always took the blame upon herself in situations like this. As she waited for the girl's response, her eyes moved down Lily's figure and then back up to her face, trying to match it with a name. "You're Lily aren't you?" Akari had been almost hesitant too say it, but she was positive that Lily was the n name she went by. The ninja had seen Jack Acelin talk to her often, flirting whenever she was around and Akari was sure that she had head him mutter the name before. "Well my name is Akari."

He glanced at it while Allie explained in great detail how this boy filled a glue bottle with salad dressing. He noticed it was Akari so he figured it was important. He read her message and thought about it a little. He could very well meet up with Francis but if there was anyone he was intimidated of, it was the First Superhero. He'd approached him with his powers back when Raph had first discovered his powers but since then, he'd just stayed relatively quiet around him, offering help when he was needed. Quickly Raph went over the things he still had to do in his mind before send a message back.

                                                                                █████ Akari

███████ to know where he is?

"Hey Raphie! Are you listening to me?" came Allie's small voice just as he sent the text. He shoved his phone in his pocket and jumped up, dashing around the chair. He lifted her up and spun her around before putting her on his hip again.

"Course I am, sweet pea," he replied, earning giggles as a reward. "Let's head on home." Raphael buckled her up in his car and made his way back to campus, stopping just on the outskirts where his apartment was. He took her inside and the two of them were greeted by jingling as soon as they stepped in. Raphael scooped up the fluffy white cat that purred and nuzzled itself again his chest as he brought her into the kitchen. "Hey Allie. If you hang up your jacket and put away your shoes, you can feed Artemis," he called out as he played with the feline. He heard the girl squeal in excitement all the way from her room and soon enough, a black blur whizzed into the kitchen, pulling open the cabinet with Artemis's food. Raphael smiled and let the cat down, leaving her to it.

In the meantime, he ran around the apartment, getting things done now so that he'd have extra time before the meeting to meet up with Francis. He called up Alicia's babysitter, started on preparing dinner, made sure Allie started her homework, worked on a load of laundry while pots were on the stove, and picked up anything Allie or Artemis knocked on the floor. It was like having another full time job but Raph found joy and even comfort in it. Occasionally, he'd become to comfortable that he'd just levitate to retrieve something on a shelf rather than just reach for it. Allie would giggle and tell him that he was doing it again and he'd quickly drop back down to the ground and chide himself mentally.

While standing over the stove, he went over the things they'd most likely discuss at the meeting. He didn't really care what the team name was but he was nervous about the zone assignments. There was a reason he was the side-kick; he had no offensive powers. Raphael was pretty much a pacifist up until he received his powers, having never gotten in a fist fight in his life. His peaceful powers only seemed to reaffirm that. The worst he could do to someone was probably fly them up to a high point and threaten to drop them but he wasn't sure he even had the heart to do something like that. With a sigh and shrug, he decided to just wait and see what the others thought best.

Jack apparently hadn't encountered what the others did. For some reason the didn't sit well with Valerie. "Hmm," she muttered, eyeing him skeptically. He had a different energy than most people. "Why don't I believe you right now?" she asked, doubting his honesty to his face. She drank the last of her macchiato and set it on the table where she was previously sitting. Afterward Vally picked up a stray pen and began writing on one of Jack's papers. "Here's my number and address if you change your mind." she said with a roll of her eyes. After she was done writing she looked at him and pointed. "Don't give that to anyone, okay?" she warned while pushing out her hand. "It's a meeting, not, like, a party." An telekinetic rift formed in the space around her and Jack. It was much weaker than her fighting power but still enough to break the window behind him and maybe throw him out of his seat. She giggled as glass scattered about the floor and walked away, cracked shards crunching beneath her heels.

Valerie pulled out her keys and stepped out of the Starbucks, headed to her car. She hopped in and peeled out of the parking lot with a random pop song playing on the radio. Vally didn't exactly live close to the college. Campus was about a thirty minute drive away from the Sinclair Estate. Although Vally liked to drive fast so she would probably make the trip in a shorter time. It was kinda lame to be going home at six o'clock but there was the meeting that was actually important. Not to mention there was still the weekend coming up to get some parties on. Valerie headed for the crib at twenty miles over the speed limit.

Jack watched from his seat, as the blonde sitting on the table eyed him with a rather serious face expression. He found that it didn't match her personality, but didn't quite say anything. At her words, his lips formed a wolfish smirk revealing the hidden dimples in his cheeks and the mischievous glint in his eyes. "Most girls don't believe anything I say." As Valerie began to write on his papers, Jack shut the book in his lap away and began to place things into his bag. He was no longer in the mood to do homework and it didn't seem like Val would be staying with him any longer. He accepted the piece of paper, with that same grin still on his boyish features.

"If I do see Merida, you'll be the first one I run too." He folded up the paper and placed it in his pockets. Before she could say anything, the window behind him broke causing Jack to glance behind him. He had felt the rift but luckily he had managed to stay put. As soon as the blonde was out of sight, a worker had come up to him asking questions about the window. He was quick to tell them to just look at the security cameras and before they could keep him there, Jack walked away. He really hoped that he wouldn't get banned from that location because he was honestly a regular customer. Most of the workers knew his name and he liked to chat with them often. A couple of them even liked to go to parties with him and often came to see him play during football season.

With a shrug, the young heartthrob made his way back to campus to the school's apartments. Unlike most students, the jock wasn't from the state so he was living on campus. Luckily for him though, he had chosen a apartment instead of a dorm. Once inside, the blonde lazily threw his backpack onto the couch and moved to the kitchen. After getting a bite to eat, the male slipped into the bathroom and began taking a shower. As soon as he was done, Jack would eventually change into his alias bitter flame and would find a house or a business that was worth breaking into.

"To those who believe. I am nothing but a flower."

The Assassin listened to the girl speak through the loud and busy mall. There were sure a lot of people and each passing glance made Lily a little uneasy. She never really had this much attention before. Sure it was a mere passing glance of spontaneous one second curiosity, but it was more than enough for the Assassin. Lily gave a small nod to what Akari had to say giving another nod to the Akari's introduction. "I.. I think I saw you in class before.." Lily replied quietly, but enough for Akari to hear. Then Lily gave out a subconscious flinch. How.. How did she know who Lily was? School was one place where she knew that she was non-existent..except for the idiot Jack Acelin bothering her on every given opportunity., 'Did she see me with that idiot?' Lily's mind raced but still let out a calm and slightly shy demeanour. "H-How did you know my name?" Lily asked calmly with a slight stutter, trying to get some answers.

"But to those who do not believe. I am the Reaper"
