Delena's confusion only rose to new heights. Er...baking?? Wait...what kind of game is this??
Ruben sighed in annoyance and picked up a box and handed it to Delena. "Your talk of games and folly in all its silliness is intriguing..it really is...but I believe you have a job to do and you are looking for this. I be" Ruben replied in plain sarcasm
"Wha---wait! It's not my game!" She rebutted as she took the box.
"Yes yes well have fun with your baking business. Hope it thrives. Really I do. Now I must attend to other matters. See yourself out. Restock on supplies, have a drink...whatever it is you fancy." He dismissed the two as he went back to work.
Delena shook her head and looked at Esuta with an "Are-you-ready-to-go?" look.

((Haha yup. It's flown over their heads xp ))

(( She was talking about a browser based game, but I guess that wouldn't be what they would think of first, given their respective lines of work. ))

Hated of Silence

____________________________________________

It looked like sleeping beauty was awake. Miki hoped he was hungry because the rabbit meat she’d prepared was done and sitting on layers of paper plates on the porch. He would have no problems with finding her out back, sitting in front of the fire she’d built, it was loud, the smell of smoke and meat would guide him there…

When Malakai came and spoke to her, the silent Hated didn’t say anything, not even to his observation that she looked clean. Instead, she motioned to the meat sitting on the porch and took a drink of some water she’d pulled from her pouch. The fire was still going strong in spite of Miki’s worry that it would start dwindling down before she got the chance to toss the floorboards into it. That was good; it meant she didn’t have to worry about it dying out while she pulled up the bloody floorboards, and since she’d already eaten her fill, so she might as well get started on that now that her debt holder was awake.

Another question was direction at Miki as she began pulling various tools from her pouch that would help her in pulling up the floorboards. She already had a saw, a hammer, and was just pulling out the crowbar when Malakai asked if she found a working shower. Which, wasn’t a silly question at all, not when Miki looked like she’d taken a shower herself. Her hair was still wet.

Shaking her head no at his question, Miki stood with the tools and tossed one of her pouches to him. She hoped he understood by now that all he needed to do was reach in and the things he needed woud find their way into his hands. He’d probably be pulling out rags, soap, and containers of water as he needed them… She wasn’t worried about him wasting water either; she took every chance to refill every empty container she had with water. So there was no need to be conservative with it.

He could probably find a new set of clothes in there too, maybe ones that fit him… Miki probably had some that would fit him, she had no idea, she could hardly remember all the things she’d put in that bag since there was so much…

Leaving the other to his own devices, Miki went into where they had been sleeping, and looked around… It didn’t look like she’d bled anywhere that she couldn’t get to, which made this simpler. Burning down houses wasn’t Miki’s favorite thing to do…

From where she had been dragged from the entryway, Miki began to pull up the floorboards with her blood on them. Miki was careful not to aggravate her injury; she went at a pace that she would be good with. It wouldn’t be good if she opened up the wound on her back again…

Before Miki wouldn’t have done this… She would have called this into Libra, have them send a crew that would take care of the clean up and head on her way… But she couldn’t do that now… So she would just have to do it herself…

Her mind wandered to how she still owed the demon who she had roomed with. How it was that he still hadn’t used that paper to summon her yet? Or... Wait… That wasn’t right… He ‘had’ summoned her… She just couldn’t remember that before… She hadn’t recalled the circumstances that led up to her owing him again…

Flashback

The alarms were going off, and she was trapped. She was blocked in on all sides by sturdy walls, and steel plated doors. Camera's pointed at her masked and hooded figure.

It didn't make any sense. She'd memorized the buildings blueprints, taken into account all of their security, routines, alarms, and even the position of every camera in the building... She knew that she hadn’t tripped any alarms, or revealed herself in any way... Yet, here she was... Trapped...

Miki was quite sure that the person who had employed her, had been lying about needing a formula taken back from these people... Once he said the name of the facility, she should have known. After all, this facility paid top dollar to anyone who could send them a Hated or Adored... No one knew what they did with any they caught, but it was known that they were never seen again... Miki should have known this was a trap.

She stood up straight, seeing as there was no point in running when you only had about 5 feet of space in all directions. Her expression was hidden by the mask, but even if it wasn’t, her expression wouldn’t show any fear, or any signs of panic. She just thought... Thought about how she could get out of this...

There were no windows to climb out of in her limits space, there were no vent openings that she could crawl through, and she would more than likely kill herself if she tried to set off a charge that could blast through the doors or walls.

She could try cutting through the steel, but that would take too long... And besides... The doors were already coming up...

Miki braced herself to be attacked... However, she was only surprised to find that, there were many men with bio hazard suits on. Suits that were meant to protect them from the effects of the hate-mones...

They all had guns that were pointed in her direction... 'Real guns' not tranquilizers, or stun guns, or even those paralyzing torches that people loved to use now a days.

They had 'real' guns...

Miki eyed the people surrounding her. Waiting for them to say something, or make a move...

Screw this...

Miki had no intention of being captured alive, if they wanted to point real guns at a girl with nothing to lose, and no reason to live, then fine. But they had better be prepared to feel all the pain she could inflict before shooting her.

Her weapon of choice for that particular knight was a claymore, however, due to the fact that she didn't have much room to fight with such a large weapon, she'd switched to smaller blades.

Throwing off her mask since it was pointless by this time, Miki began to attack, using throwing stars, and bladed knuckle dusters to inflict pain upon the people pointing guns at her.

A shot was fired immediately after she attacked, and there was no doubt about the fact that it would have hit her right in the head if Miki hadn't suddenly found herself plopped in the middle of a completely different area.

At first Miki thought she was dead… But the scene seemed to be too mild for it to be hell, and there was no doubt about the fact that she was bound for that place…

She looked around, only to find that she wasn't alone. She was surrounded by what looked to be very surprised, and very angry hooded figures, and... Malakai?

Miki found herself staring at Malakai for a little bit, letting the situation register in her mind, she knew she wasn’t dead now.

Miki had no expression on her face, she just looked normal, calm, cold, however Miki was shocked at the fact that somehow she'd just been saved from death yet 'again' by a demon, while he himself was suspended about six feet in the air, trapped in a transparent purple diamond.

This made things a lot more complicated… At the moment, she had two debts to this man… One of which she was repaying, and another that she owed simply because he’d summoned her to repay her debt just before she would have died… Even if she did save him here, she would still owe him. After all, that gun had been pointed right at her head.

It would seem that someone up there wanted Miki to be indebted to this man… The one who she’d first mistaken as a black winged angel… Her black winged angel… The irony was palpable…

Well there was no reason to complain yet. Especially not when she’d just cheated death again, in one of the most absurd twists fate had to offer…

Changing tactics, Miki examined the situation, switching back to fighting with her claymore. Might as well get started…

The situation so far seemed pretty obvious. Her debt holder was being held against his will, and he’d summoned her to help him out of it…

First things first... Get the winged demon out of the magic flying crystal...

No problem...

End Flashback

Sighing silently at this thought Miki, looked towards where she knew Malakai was and stared for a moment with no expression on her face, before she looked away and continued to pull up the floorboards…

MALAKAI AUGUSTINE

A puch was thrown at him. Her answer to his questions. He dighed and picked it up. "Well. You're quite the help. This pouch answers all my problems." He said sarcastically then put his hand inside. "Oh great and wise pouch. What magical gift hast thoug nestowed---" He then pulled out a bar of soap. He paused, then looked at Miki. The the bar. He put his hand in there once more...a decent-sized bucket... Not saying another word to began to look for a faucet attached to the the side of the house. He looked over his shoulder as he heard the sound of the woman pulling out the floorboards. "What are---" He then stopped himself. he didn't wanna know. "Nevermind..."

He walked out side and looked around. Eventually he found a faucet on the side wall of the house. It was a wild shot in the dark but he figured he'd try. He turned the handle. A small whirring sound....then water! Amazing/ Despite it being abandoned, the town or city hadn't found a chance to cut off its water...yet. Best to act now. He took off everything but his boxers and began to fill the bucket with water. He then proceeded to bathe...

Malakai grew bored watching the Dhroa-Khais mingle among themselves. Smug and all that. "Oh what a great plan." "Drebin, our leader, is a genius." "The Dhroa-Khai will be more prestigious than it already is--blah--blah." These were by far, NOT the exact words they said. Malakai just mocked them in summary in his head. What a predicament. These fools robbed him the chance of even continuing his fights in the arena. Another crack at his brother even. How disappointing. These fools will pay. He would make sure of that.

He sighed again. How much time has passed? He then randonly placed his hands in his jackets...he then felt a piece of paper in one of his pockets. Cash? Great. Can't let these Dhroas see it. How much of a handout do these guys need? He slowly pulled it out of curiosity. Maybe he could fold the dollar bill into a swan or something. Just to pass the time before he found an oppurtunity to kill these fools. Once he got it he realized it was a piece of papaer. Hm. He examined it in confusion. Then it hit him. He can barely remember the woman who gave this to him. A Hated. What did it do again? A cellphone number? If it was, not like there was signal out here. He tried to read it and tried to fold it away, jus about forgetting what it was for...next thing he knew a breeze bagan to build...suddenly..in a strange coincidence. There the woman was! Confusion in not only his and the Dhroa-Khais' faces, but hers as well.

From the crystal he knocked and got her attention, calling out to her. "Uh. Hey look. You should probably get out of here. This has nothin' to do with you. I now what this looks like, but trust me...nothin' I can't handle. Run along. I mean hey if you can kill the guys in the hoods---mages---it'll make things easier for me sure...but I don't need to be pullin' people into my problems..."
He looked at one of the Dhroas. "You jackasses leave her be. She got nothin' to do with this." He said, still in his plain tone.

-End Flashback-

The water washed away his thought on the past event as he poured it on himself. He began to scrub himself a little, removing the dried blood off of his skin. An outdoor shower wasn't bad. A nice breeze and the sun helping in the drying process...and an abandoned house meant a scarcity of eyes watching...not that he would've felt embarrassed if there was....

__________________________________________

Malakai’s sarcastic comments made Miki laugh on the inside, despite the fact that she was otherwise expressionless. She didn’t hear sarcasm, let alone humor that often, so hearing it at all was refreshing. Especially since the previous two encounters she’d had with the demon Malakai more or less involved some sort of attempt to kill her, and her killing others…

While this particular encounter hadn’t exactly involved her killing anyone, the fact that she was pulling up bloody floorboards seemed close enough.

At least she wasn’t pulling them up to hide a body…

~~Flashback~~

Miki was more than a little puzzled when the first thing out of her debt holders mouth was that she needed to get out of there, that this situation she’d been dragged into had nothing to do with her, and that he could handle it himself… She didn’t understand his logic… He’d brought her into this, he’d used the paper to bring her here, and now he was telling her that he didn’t need her help? What exactly was she there for then?

Well, either way, there was no going back now; this type of summoning was a one way street. So whether she liked it or not, whatever was going on here became her business as soon as she found herself pulled from the path of a bullet and into a… Religious sacrifice? Miki didn’t know…

Miki latched onto the tidbit about how killing off some of the mages would make things easier for him, and she nodded in comprehension. She could work with that... Kill the hooded mages.

Keeping in mind that the hooded figures were mages, Miki idly began to wonder what kind of trouble Malakai- and 'Miki’ for that matter- managed to get himself into. Why would one person, have so many mages keeping them trapped in a crystal? Upon further inspection, what kind of person had so many ‘Dhroa-Khai’ mages trapping them in a crystal?

On second thought, Miki was sure she didn’t want to know… Whatever it was, it must have been pretty big to warrant such 'attentive' treatment. Miki was much better off ‘not’ knowing… All she needed to remember was that a debt was a debt, and since the man trapped in the crystal had called hers in, she was going to be helping him out… It really wasn’t anything personal; it was just a matter of pride, a matter of upholding her code, and to some extent, a matter of her reputation.

Malakai said they were mages… Which obviously meant they used magic, and Miki despised fighting magic’s users, they always had some sort of trick up their sleeves. What was more, depending on their area of magical expertise they could be a real pain to deal with. Miki was pretty good with thinking up stuff on the spot, but it was never a very good idea to go into a fight with a magic user without knowing just what kind of magic they specialized in. You had to be extra careful not to get hit by any magic, a feat that was easier said than done... It was at moments like this that Miki wished there was a way to determine the type of magic being used ‘without’ having to get hit by it…

She’d have to use one of her magic busting weapons… Which, 'unfortunately' meant that the claymore had to go. Tonight just wasn’t the night for a stupidly large weapons was it?

Sighing silently to herself Miki once again changed her weapon. Swapping out her large weighty blade in favor of a smaller lighter Kusarigami with a bladed weight at the end of its chain length, and inscriptions engraved over every inch of its surface.

Miki stood with the scythe end in her right hand while she tested the weighted blade at the end of the chain by swinging it around experimentally.

It was unfortunate that the action of testing the weapon wasn’t doing much against the mages. They were becoming less wary of her by the second. Earlier they had been unnerved by her sudden appearance, but now that they’d sized her up, now that they'd had a chance to read her, they quickly realized what she was, and with that realization, began to relax.

“Ha! Look at this, a Son of Sylar called a human girl for backup!” One of the mages shouted out in laughter, making light of the situation and causing the rest of the mages to join in his laughter. Miki didn’t react to this, she just waited for them to make the first move letting them laugh.

”What’s she gonna do? Make us submit with her ‘amazing human powers?’” Another added, although Miki wouldn’t exactly call it an ‘amazing human power’ so much as a ‘method of forcing her into a stasis pod for another 50 years.’ She still didn't react, she just waited.

”Oh no it’s a human! We need to run away before she has a chance to ‘study’ us…” Another chimed in, which honestly, didn’t make any sense at all, and earned a confused frown from the mute-by-choice woman. Which was honestly, a lot more than most people would get from her...

There were previously only 5 enemies in that room, however following the laughter of the mages, more Dhroa-Khai, not all of them mages, began to enter the room. Miki counted about 15 enemies overall now. She decided at that moment that she would try to deal with the mages first.

The Dhroa-Khai were no longer concerned by Miki’s presence, they simply continued to laugh, each adding their own stereotypical human joke to the mix, or making a jab at the demon trapped in the crystal.

It was actually kind of amazing how quickly the jokes piled up, how quickly the Dhroa-Khai started to get 'really' into making fun of the human-demon pair. Someone even started to insinuate that Miki was Malakai pet, and the reason she was there was because Malakai was hoping the Dhroa-Khai would feel a bit forgiving and let him go if he let them keep her in exchange; which, was actually something a surprising number of them were in favor of doing.

They became so absorbed with insulting Miki and Malakai that they dropped their guards completely. No longer seeing the silent Hated as a threat, but more as a venue for entertainment. They completely disregarded Malakai's order to leave her alone. They obviously weren't going to just let her walk out when she'd appeared out of 'nowhere' smack in the middle of where they were keeping a rather important hostage...

The lot of them just continued to laugh, while the one who looked to be in charge, simply shook his head, chuckled and let the group do as they pleased while he kept a close eye on Malakai. He was probably the only one with his priorities straight at the moment.

The one that started the joke fest first, stepped forward, an amused cocky grin on his face as he did so. He felt vastly superior when compared to the small Hated woman, and that same feeling of superiority made him bold. He approached Miki, completely disregarding the fact that she even 'had' a weapon, that the same weapon had magic combatant inscriptions covering it, and that she didn't even look even the slightest bit perturbed by the 15 plus demons surrounding her. If he would have been taken her seriously, he would have realized that she was acting as if she was surrounded by enemy demons all the time...

”Look human we’re not bad guys, so we’ll make a deal with you…” He stated getting closer to Miki and holding up his own weapon in a sort of ‘mock gesture’ at the fact that she was holding a weapon as well. He wasn’t taking her the slightest bit seriously like he should have been. ”If you drop your weapon, and anything of value you have right now, we’d be willing to let you go after you join us fo-“ He wasnt even able to finish that statement, because no sooner than he attempted to lift Miki’s chin up with his weapon, did he find his head lying at his feet, and Miki behind him, taking advantage of the group’s unguarded forms by whipping the bladed weight at another mage with such force that it buried itself into his heart, while Miki quickly lopped off that same mage's neighbor.

3 mages down…

The fact that the Dhroa-Khai had underestimated her, and dropped their guards in order to have a laugh was foolish. They’d gotten cocky, feeling secure with the fact that there were more of them, and only one of her. Safe with the knowledge that they were demons and she was 'only human.’ Had they taken her a little more seriously, Miki wouldn't have been able to get the drop on three of their mages as quickly as she did. Nor would the entire group be standing there like a bunch of blubbering idiots while Miki took advantage of their shock.

Yanking the bladed weight from the dead mages chest by its chain, Miki proceeded to swing the weighted blade around in a wide circle aiming to nick a few of the stunned Dhroa-Khai with it while they were still dumbfounded by her actions. A few weren’t quick enough to step out of the blades path, and were left with deep and shallow head wounds alike as Miki continued to push them back far enough so she could assess the situation and choose her next target.

It only took Miki a split-second to decide what to do next when she noticed that the leader, the head mage was already reacting; chanting a spell to throw at the mercenary. Miki swung the weighted blade to wrap around the 4th mage’s neck. Pulling the mage closer when he gripped at the chain and tried to loosen it, when he was close enough Miki used him as a shield when the leader threw his spell at Miki, a spell which stunned the Dhroa-Khai mage long enough for Miki to unwrap the chain from his neck and slit his throat.

4 down… One more to go…

”What are you fools doing?! Don’t just stand there like a bunch of idiots! Kill her!” The Dhroa-Khai leader bellowed, motioning around to the 10 other demons who had entered the room in order to see the commotion. There had only been five mages in the room before, and while not a lot more mages were coming back, there certainly were a lot more Dhroa-Khai than there were before. The 4 mages that Miki had dispatched of were being replaced by different ones, replacements which also seemed to have their priorities straight. They focused on keeping the seal over Malakai up rather than dealing with Miki.

As the events progressed Miki tried to deal with the replacement mages first, however the Dhroa-Khai that were a lot more proficient with weapons began to attack her, keeping her from disturbing the mages while they attempted to keep the seal up.

The Dhroa-Khai were fully alert now that Miki had managed to kill 4 of their mages. They were angry and while Miki was sure that many of the mages would love to be focusing on her, they allowed the ever growing number of lackeys to deal with her while they furiously chanted spells to deal with Malakai. Only directing a spell or two at her every once in a while. Miki found herself on the defensive as she defended herself from weapons, and spells alike, running around the room dodging random spells while she attempted to keep the Dhroa-Khai lackeys from gaining the upper hand against her.

She hoped that she was being a good enough distraction for her debt holder, because if things kept going like this, she would end up having to activate her ability, something she really didn’t want to do.

6 Dhroa-Khai lackeys and 2 mages later…

Miki found herself caught off guard when an errant spell managed to hit her directly, knocking her on her side, and leaving her stunned long enough for one of the Dhroa-Khai lackeys to take advantage of her momentary weakness by standing over her ready to deliver a fatal blow.

~~End Flashback~~

Having finished pulling up the bloody floorboards, Miki broke them down into manageable pieces before feeding them to the fire… Now all she had to do was wait for them all to burn up before leaving…

Content to just sit and wait for the fire to die out on its own, Miki moved away from the pit to the house, before the ‘weirdest’ thing happened.

She didn’t know what she could have possibly put in the fire for it to happen, or ‘how’ it was even possible, but the flames suddenly ‘leapt’ about 10 feet in the air before returning to normal.

Miki was ‘startled’ to say the least. She was glad that she hadn’t been really close to the fire, and that the fire was far enough from the house that it wasnt able to set the decaying old place aflame. However… Even if it was fortunate that nothing bad happened, who knew what would happen, if the fire did that 'again.'

It would probably be a good idea to check the pouch to see if she had something to deal with fire... Like a fire extinguisher...

Standing up, Miki proceeded to look for Malakai.

After looking for a while, Miki spotted him at the side of the house scrubbing himself clean in nothing but his boxers… She probably would have stopped for a moment to appreciate the view wonder why he was bathing with boxers on, 'if' she actually care... Miki was Hated, and as such, she ‘still’ didn't have a healthy concept of modesty, and unfortunately for Malakai, that meant she didn’t expect other people to have one either. So instead of dwelling on the fact that he was half naked and wet, Miki pushed past it to focus on fire hazard prevention.

So now she was standing right next to him, digging in her pouch in search for something to keep the flames under control should they leap 10 feet in the air again.

Flashback
<==========>

Malakai rubbed the back of his neck in annoyance to the comments of him calling a "Human" for help. If he did he didn't mean to, let alone even how he did. But these snarky comments are a major reason why she needed to leave pronto. "I didn't call her her you---"
One of the Khais proceeded to walk up and taunt her with his weapon. "Didn't you hear what I said? Leave her---" ...the idiot's head now met the floor...
Next thing Malakai knew he was watching a bloody show. Hm. Well this is nice. Seems she was doing some of his work for him. It seemed she killed just the right amount of mages as the diamond before disappeared...

As The Khai proceeded to land a fatal blow to Miki, he suddenly stopped and gasped, dropping his weapon. He dropped face first and Miki would see a dagger stuck to the back of his head. In shock the Dhroa turned in the direction the dagger was thrown...to see a newly freed Malakai Augustine, with a grin that warned them of their impending doom. Some of them turned their attentions to him
"FOOLS! He can't escape! He's--"
"Shaddup! Just take your beatings like good little lackeys."
ASome began to attack and Malakai dodged their weapons and one-by-one systematically took them down. He broke bones, stole weapons and used it on them by sticking it in them and leaving it there

There shouldn't be much of them left now. After all, the woman took down some. Put a huge dent in the mage numbers, while the other grunts were taken down by a stronger being in physicality. A hostage like Malakai Augustine, you'd expect Frebin to assign at least some of his Elite Guard. Malakai couldn't help but think that maybe he should feel offended.

-End Flashback-
<==========>

As Malakai came to his final rinses, he heard a sound next to him and saw it was the woman digging through the pouch. "Oh. Yeah I probably should've given that back to you bonce I got stuff I needed...then again I still don't." He looked down at his boxers. There was blood on them too. Of course. Whatever he was involved in it must've been really violent. Without thinking, he just took them off and threw them aside. It would feel better with new ones anyway...hopefully this magic pouch will provide. He now turned full faced to Miki in all of his "birthday suit" glory. "I hope that thing does clothes too..." He said plainly. "...gonna need a towel to dry up too."

~~Flashback~~

A few seconds was all Miki needed to recover from the spell and get back on her feet. Seconds which her debt holder, used to free himself from the diamond, secure a dagger, and have that same dagger lodged firmly in the head of the Dhroa-Khai standing over Miki.

This sudden turn of events distracted the Dhroa-Khai, causing many of them to turn their attention from Miki to Malakai. There were a few that were still remaining focused on Miki, but even they were momentarily shocked by the fact that their hostage was free, and were debating on whether or not they should focus on Miki, or join many of their comrades in dealing with Malakai.

In the end only about three of the lackeys decided to continue focusing on Miki. A number that the Hated woman probably should have felt offended by. However, it only made things easier for the duo, so she didnt dwell on it too much.

Miki was deceptively good at taking advantage of momentary distractions. She was trained to exploit any distraction for all that it was worth even if it wasn't her own. More than half of her job required her to make distractions that she could take advantage of. While on the flip side she was conditioned to react appropriately and without any hesitation should something unpredictable happened. So when Malakai provided her with the perfect opportunity distraction to exploit she took it.

Shooting up from the prone position she'd been in, Miki pulled the dagger from the dead lackey's head, deftly throwing it at the face of the third farthest lackey from her. Even before the dagger pierced said lackey between the eyes Miki had already gathered the bladed weight end of her weapon and threw it at the second farthest lackey from her, while she charged at the lackey closest to her and split his gut open with the scythe portion of her weapon.

Just as the three lackeys that had decided to focus on her dropped dead, Malakai had begun taunting the rest of the demons, telling them how they should; Take their beatings like 'good lackeys.' Miki used the moment provided to her by scanning the area, assessing her options. That was when she noticed that the leader was already-

Snapping into action, Miki ran towards Malakai, a deathly serious look in her eyes. A look that almost made it seem like she was going to attack him next...

Before Malakai could blink, Miki was already behind him, facing away from him and spinning the chain of her weapon around in front of her at a speed that blurred the form of the chain.

A spell flew towards the pair but when it reached them it was absorbed by the spinning chain of the Kusarigami, causing the inscriptions etched on the entirety of its surface to light up a faint green color.

Being careful so she wouldn't end up stabbing herself, Miki stopped the spinning of the chain. The inscriptions etched into the weapon continued to glow faintly, before the light rushed to the weighted blade at the end of the chain, as Miki took hold of it. What happened next, did so within the blink of an eye.

Holding up her right hand and pointing the blade of the scythe at not the caster of the spell, which had been the head mage, but rather, at the ground, before she touched the bladed weight to the scythe handle.

It was almost like Miki pulled the trigger of a gun, the spell that had apparently been absorbed by the weapon flew from out of the bladed weight, and was shot through the blade of the scythe into the ground.

Nothing seemed to happen at first. However, Miki didn't stay put long enough for them to see what 'would' happen. While the Dhroa-Khai were momentarily confused about what exactly Miki had done that for the silent hated grabbed Malakai's arm and began to run...

Said demon apparently already had the chance to kill off a good number of the lackeys while Miki was doing her thing, so as she pulled him away from the area, she could see the bodies of many Dhroa-Khai lying on the ground their own weapons sticking from their bodies. She didn't take the time to admire his handiwork either, seeing as they really needed to get away before-

It was then that the ground of, wherever they were, proceeded to collapse right under their feet.

This had been Miki's plan all along. She'd noticed from the very beginning that the ground wasn't very stable. There were cracks, bumps, tilts, uneven ground, you name it - everywhere. It was obvious that the ground they were standing on had something, or nothing underneath it, it was very likely that the surface layer had remained at this level while the ground directly underneath it had started to sink, probably because of the efforts of moles... 'A lot...' Of moles...

Miki had chosen the Kusarigami with this very plan in mind. She knew that once she was able to get Malakai from the flying crystal that she shouldn't waste any time. No offense to Malakai intended, but she didn't expect to be able to work harmoniously with him to defeat the remaining enemies, nor did she expect to be able to last that long without having to use her ability. So she'd looked around for alternatives, realized that ground didn't look very stable, and figured that a weapon that could redirect magical attacks would definitely come in handy...

Especially when all it took to make the ground fall from underneath their feet; was good aim.

Somehow Miki managed to get the both of them away from where the ground started to collapse, however, she wasn't crazy enough to think that they would be able to get away in time before the ground fell (Despite what many people who worked with her before thought), and while she knew that the ground was unstable, she didn't know just what was underneath. For all she knew there could only be a few feet underneath them, or there could be a massive man made crater(Personally she was partial to the mole theory). She took a wild shot in the dark, and hopefully she was right about there being a crater, despite how unlikely it was.

She hoped this demon still had his wings, because if he didn't, then they were screwed.

Turning around, Miki looked at Malakai in the eye with that same deathly determined look in her eyes. She had no expression showing through her facial features, but her eyes expressed enough to make up for that. Her eyes always tended to give away what she was thinking or feeling. It just depended on if you were able to pick up on things like that, and how good you were with communicating silently.

Miki opened her mouth then uttering the first words she'd spoken since getting there, the first words she'd spoken in a week, to the one she'd mistaken as her dark winged angel when they first met...

'Fly...'

~~End Flashback~~

Shrugging at his comment about giving the pouch back when he was done, Miki pulled the object that had managed to find its way into her hands out of the pouch. She didn't mind that he'd taken it with him, it wasn't like she absolutely 'had' to have it at all times, she could live without it what he took a shower.

A fire extinguisher managed to find its way into her hands, something Miki was glad for. It was fortunate that she hadn't pulled out a shovel or toothpaste. 'This' was much easier to use.

You could say that Miki was caught off guard when she looked up only to see him take off his boxers... But not for the reasons most people would be caught off guard... She was just surprised that he'd only just now decided it was time for the boxers to come off. After he'd already bathed with them on. Why only now?

She looked him up and down rather shamelessly as if that would tell her the answer, before she glanced over to where he'd thrown his boxers.

They were all bloody...

...

Oh god, she wanted to start cracking jokes now...

This urge was rare for Miki, so she really couldn't pass up the chance... However, instead of opening her mouth to make any cracks, she simply set the fire extinguisher down, reached in the pouch, pulled out a box of tampons, and proceeded to toss them at Malakai...

'Those should help...' She deadpanned, keeping up her expressionless face like she usually did, before she picked up the fire extinguisher, tossed him back the pouch, and proceeded to walk away...

When she turned the corner, all Miki could do to keep herself from falling apart in laughter was put a hand over her mouth. She shook in silent laughter, sliding down the side of the house. This entire situation was exceedingly weird for her... She didn't even 'know' she had a sense of humor. A rather harsh thing to say about yourself, but Miki knew it was true, she didnt makes jokes... But here she was barely managing to keep herself from falling over in laughter becuase she'd 'made one.'

Another thought crossed her mind, and she actually 'did' fall apart.

Miki knew that she had a few sets of men's clothing. Mostly just things she'd stripped off of unconscious people when she was in need of a quick disguise... She had a lot of those, and she was pretty sure that he'd find something to fit him too.

However she'd never picked up male undergarments. It was cruel to strip off an unconscious victims underwear, and besides, she had plenty of her own. It wasn't like she spent any time around people, let alone 'men,' she never thought she'd ever 'need' to keep a set of male underwear around in case some guy needed a change... Not her, not the girl who was previously thought to have no sense of humor.

Oh god... She hoped he wouldn't be too embarrassed when he pulled women's underwear out instead of male.

Giovanni just 'did not' feel comfortable, it didn't matter how well the stupid suppressant worked or how nice it was no not have people trying to murder her at ever corner. It was still just 'weird' to not have people glaring at her all the time, it felt weird to have peopel staring at her for any other reason than because they 'hated' her. What was more, she felt like s**t, she was unbearable hot, her ability wasn't working right, and there was 'a ******** briefcase' handcuffed to her...

She was drawing the attention of more people than she would like to be noticing her with just the briefcase... People who she did not want targeting her when she was this sluggish because of the suppressants.

It was a good thing that she was in the camp of one of 'those guys' otherwise she would have her gun drawn and ready to blow the hand off of whatever idiot was likely to try and lift a seemingly important briefcase from her person.

Giivanni made her way to Ruben's tent. She heard that the people she was waiting for had finally arrived and were visiting with him... She needed to make sure... Giovanni didnt understand why she specifically had to go with 'this' crew... It wasn't that she minded a whole lot... It was just that Libra had been oddly specific about who she was going to be associating with during this assignment.

Making her way to Ruben's tent Giovanni proceeded to push the flap aside.

"Sorry for intruding Ruben, but I heard that the people I've been waiting for were here..." Giovanni stated, as she was entering the tent. Before she spotted Esuta and Delena and cocked her eyebrows...

"Are you Delena?" She asked, her tone seeming hostile, when she really wasn't... She was just being Giovanni, and she always sounded hostile...

Flashback
<==========>

Quite the dilemma he was having today. But these Dhroa-Khais were a good exercise...his previous matches in the tournament were relatively easy. He could do with some challenge. He continued to dodge and strike and kill his attackers. Once he was finished, he made sure the head mage, assujming he was one, no longer breathed as well.

Next thing he knew he was looking at the woman now. Her chained weapon spun and deflected the spells thrown at them all over the place. The ground became unstable. This can't be good. She still wasn't much of a chatter as all he got was a look from her, then she suddenly started tugging him along. Where to? After a few moments, the question to his answer was irrelevant. The ground beneath then sarted to collapse. He then noted a look from the woman again...and shockingly...she spoke. "Fly".

No time to be shocked about it , he took her into his body. "Hang on tight!" Suddenly the ground felt energetic and a few debris and rock began to rise slowly as he crouched down. A misture of a faint red and orange aura surounded them as she would feel a conforting warmth. Suddenly his wings sprouted and he thrust into the air, the red-orange aura digging through the ceiling and anything that would try to collapse on them by moving them around the two of them and protecting them....

...he sprouted out and finally saw the blue sky and the forest below. He managed to land in a crater as now the chaotic sounds of rock and gravel were replaced with a soft breeze and birds. Once they landed, he let her go. "Hm. Well that's one way to escape,,," He said plainly...

Malakai just watched as the woman pulled out an extinguisher. What the hell did she do?
He then noticed her stare at him. There was an awkward silence. Suddenly before he could react, she threw.....tampons.....at him. Her answer and help for....he caught them and looked at them. She walked off before he could say anything. "Well....she was no help...." He couldn't for the life of him figure out what he could use them for...was she joking?? He tossed them aside and caught a glimpse of his torn boxers, His mind wandered off and contemplated on things that he couldn't believe he didn't take them off until now. He felt cleaner now as the water now washed "everything". He dug in the pouch and grabbed a towel and dried off. He wrapped it around his waist. Digging in the pouch he found a tank top, a nice black jacket, and some pants....he then dug again thining of underwear...and he sure did...women's underwear. He kept digging and those were all he got. He sighed and put all the underwear back. He walked and then stopped as he turned a corner and saw the woman sitting against the wall of the house. "What're you doing just sit---nevermind. Anyway, there is no male underwear in here."

Ruben kept to his work not looking at the newcomer, but he recognized the voice. Ah. Giovanni. Worry not. You're intruding on nothing. These two were just leaving. And yes. These are the ones you've been waiting for---or rather the tall woman here, Delena is. She is the captain. The pig-tailed one is Esuta. She I was not expecting but is of the crew as well.
"Thanks. Ruben. I can introduce myself, y'know..." SHe then looked at the one called "Giovanni". "Yes. I'm Delena. You must be my new passenger." She replied in the same tone Giovanni did. Then she sighed. Delena always kept changes to her crew at a bare minimum, preferring people she came to trust and know a great deal. She was already uneasy with Hiro and Esuta joining. A new stranger was just weighing on her mind. And this one in particular already had a questionable tone. "So what's your story?"
Before Giovanni could get a chance to respond to her, Ruben interrupted. "Now you all can have a cup of tea and get to know each other at your little slumber party..that's not i this tent where work must be done. Giovanni has her assignments. Now please. Depart. Thaank youu." He said plain and dismissively...

~~Flashback~~

Malakai pulled her in close before he told her to hang on tight, a command which she easily complied with. She wrapped her arms around him and closed her eyes trusting him to do what needed to be done...

She felt warmth, a comforting warmth that made her open her eyes. There was red and orange around them, before his wings sprouted out, and they were flying, the debris around them moving away from them, she watched as the scenery of falling marble and debris changed to a blue sky above the clearing of a forest.

He let her go when they landed, however she held on for a moment longer, staring at his wings in contrast with the blue sky. Her face not revealing anything she was thinking at all...

After a moment of staring, she let go without a word, stepping away so that she could survey the damage...

Where there must have once been a large marble building, there was now nothing but a small crater. Miki couldn't see any Dhroa-Khai emerging from the debris... Which meant...

Looking back at Malakai, Miki nodded to him in response to his comment about their escape...

"One more debt..." She stated quietly, not meaning to be so vague, but coming off that way anyways. She looked ready to leave, her job here was done, she had no more of a reason to stay. Especially not when she still had a long list of tasks to complete elsewhere...

Before turning her eyes away from her debt holder, Miki's eyes drifted back towards his wings... Staring for a moment longer, her face still not revealing anything, before she looked away and began to head off. She had no idea that the Dhroa-Khai would climb back out from the debris, or that she would be leaving him alone to take credit for what looked like a massive amount of damage...

It was honestly better that way anyways...

~~End Flashback~~

Miki had just composed herself when Malakai turned the corner. She stood up right as he started to ask about why she was just sitting there, before the weird man cut himself off, seeming to have answered his own question. He really needed to stop doing that. It was starting to throw Miki off.

After answering his own question, he stated that there was no male underwear. At hearing this, Miki turned her head away quickly, hiding the rare smirk. Although... 'Why' she was hiding the rare smirk was a mystery even to herself... What was wrong with her today? Did she somehow manage to get drugged when she raided the facility yesterday? If so... What was the stuff, and when the hell would it wear off? It was just too weird...

Miki shook it off, the smirk and humor faded completely, leaving her with no expression.

"Sorry..." Miki stood as she uttered her apology, looking at Malakai's face before averting her eyes and walking towards the fire.

When they came in view of the fire Miki looked around, checking for any damage or for something that had caught on fire... She didn't see any so instead she plopped down and proceeded to just keep an eye on the fire as it burned itself out, she didn't say anything else... More than a little talked out for the day.

4 whole words and Miki was good for the next 2 months...

Malakai just stared at her in silence as all she gave him was a "sorry" for no male underwear. "Whatever. Not your fault. Guess I'll just buy some later." Next thing he knew he was staring at a fire she started. He looked at it and noticed it was the floor boards she pulled out earlier. He kept quiet about this whole time, but seemed now was a better time to ask as any.... "I noticed you're burning specific floorboards. Care to tell me why? You' could've just as well grabbed any. But yet you took the ones with blood on them." He asked plainly as he began to put on clothes. He half-expected not to get an answer...after all she wasn't exactly a "chatty cheerleader".

OOC:

Oh what?? The model of the comp. is the issue? Hope not. That'd be weird. Sux.

Note: I didn't add a flashback in this one. Kind of a "And the rest is History" kinda thing. And we can just assume Malakai cocked an eyebrow at her saying "another debt." and she left before she could explain and Malakai just forgot about it after a time xp

Seems Timber's at a slow pace. A lot of the peeps there are hardly replying. Craze's recent post surprised me. Thought it was about dead. And yes. Life. I hear ya. I hope all things turn out well for our arcs sweatdrop

The question about the floorboards didn't bother Miki much. She supposed he wouldn't know much about what happened when her blood was left to sit for a while. Not many people knew either, it was a well kept secret, or, really, a well kept rumor.

She nodded yes at his question about there being a reason for her burning the floorboards, in fact, she could even think of a few more legit reasons that honest to god seemed more plausible than the true reason...

She didn't talk, her entire answer was shaking her head yes...

Just as Malakai expected, Her answers were of a "mute" level. A nodding of her head hardly was an answer to his question. Especially since it wasn't a close-ended question. "So I guess no explantion then huh?" He put on the shirt. "Listen, my advice to you, get rid of that fire as soon as you can...fast as you can. You don't want to bring attention to yourself."

At Malakai's advice about putting out the fire, Miki shook her head no. She understood that he was just trying to help out, that he was right about the fire being likely to attract unwanted attention, and she appreciated his concern, but she just couldn't do that. She couldn't just put out the fire while it was still burning up the remains of her blood. She couldn't just let the stuff sit there to attract all manner of beings to the house. While at the same time she also couldn't call anyone so they could come clean it up either. So it was up to her to make sure it was disposed of. Meaning that she couldn't put the fire out even if she wanted to.

"Fire's more important..." She mumbled to Malakai, still being vague and making more questions arise than answers. She didn't elaborate any further, but instead moved to lean against a support beam while she waited for the fire to die out on its own.

The effects of Hated remains, weren't very well known because allowing people to know about such things would cause Hated to be deemed too dangerous, and more than likely many would try to use Hated blood for summoning and magic. Especially human witches. They used to use goats blood, but ever since the Hated started appearing, they've found out that Hated blood is far more potent and effective in summoning demons, and casting all sorts of evil spells. While at the same time, the blood of the Adored is also very effective in summoning angels, and furthering holy magic.

The blood itself doesn't exactly have any special magical properties. In fact, it doesn't have any at all, it's simply about the hatred and love one experiences in their lifetime. There will always be remnants of the emotions that one feels left over in their remains. Negative emotions like hate resonate well with evil, and positive emotions like love resonate well with good. So imagine what kind of resonance can be created from the constant and intense emotions that are generated by the Hated and Adored. These remnants are powerful enough to makes demonic and angelic powers, spells, aura, etc ten times more powerful. How exactly this happened was more of a mystery that the fact that it 'could' in itself...

This is why Miki couldn't leave her blood there. As well as why she didn't want to tell Malakai the true reason either. He himself seemed harmless enough, but she'd just met him, so she didn't know him well enough to tell him about something like that right off the bat.

However to explain it to him without actually telling him the real reason wasn't easy. She could always not answer him. However for whatever reason, she was now thinking about telling him that she didn't want her DNA recorded and put into any system. Which was actually true, but still not the most important reason...

She still tried to think of a good reason, however almost as if it were trying to sabotage her efforts the fire leapt unnaturally high into the air again. The wind managed to catch it this time and blew a few of its embers into dry grass setting it on fire.

Now she had no idea how she was going to explain that. She didn't even know what she'd put in the fire to make it do that. Her blood didn't do that unless...

After realizing just what was causing the fire to leap up like that, Miki stood up calmly and proceeded to put out the grass.

She didn't know how exactly she'd managed to find a demon that her blood worked so well with that she didn't even need to get a skilled witch to perform a ritual. But her blood would only make fire leap up if it was working with a demons, and Malakai's blood was in there too.

Well, on the bright side, without a proper witch to make some weird tool that gave him super powers, then she would just have to make sure their blood wasnt thrown into any fires together.

As for the fire leaping... Maybe he would stick to his habit of asking a question and cutting himself off about it? Although, that really wasn't very likely, not when the fire she'd started just leapt up to an unnatural height.

She could at the very least hope.

I don't know why I'm doing the demon/hated blood thing. Although it occurred to me that 'the super tool' could be what he pulls out of the pouch when he tells his fathers story. She's reluctant to tell him what it is, but decides to journey with him for a while to see whether or not its worth telling him... Y'know be the judge of character on whether or not he'll misuse the 'whatever' that he'll get from increasing the potency of his demonic powers.
God, what is it with me and using 'blood' and 'remains' here? I have no idea... I swear that I don't normally do this, its just that blood and pieces of yourself have always seemed like something to use when making a spell or something.
