Selene

User ImageSelene went silent at Tidus's surprised reaction. She wasn't offended for he had shown her more kindness than any being has in a long time. Slowly, a smile crept on her lips and she nodded her head. "My sight was taken from me when I was younger but in return my other senses heightened. I use to be sad but it is okay now." She explained trying to reassure him and not make him feel guilty for pointing out her 'flaw'.

She listened to him approach. She was thankful that he was coming to her rather than her searching him out. His warm hand on her arm made her flinch in surprise and pull away. She had not expected him to touch her. The berries and leaves fell from her hands and landed on the ground around them. Realizing her mistake, she dropped her head and blushed. "I apologize. Sometimes I can't control my reactions."

When Madora was mentioned, Selene looked up to him as if the darkness in her eyes would subside and she would be able to see his features. This man was proving to be more and more interesting by the moment. "Madora? Myrddin? I am afraid I don't know any merchant named Myrddin but I can help you find Mado-----." She paused for a moment as the feelings from before entered into her. She went silent and still. Images flashed through her mind as if the plants were collectively trying to tell her something. All the images moved too fast and overwhelmed the young dryad. Suddenly, she stumbled backwards but caught herself before falling. "Myrddin is by the sea." She whispered. "By the sea.. Warning..." She whispered trying to make sense of what she was seeing. Feeling nauseous she put her hands over her face and cut off communication with the plants. She couldn't handle all that energy at once. Blackness. She was once again alone in her mind. Only the sounds of the wind and Tidus' breathing crept into her mind. "Tidus..." She whispered reaching out for him. She gently touching his arm. "You should hurry." She explained. "To the coast. Just South of where we are. Something is wrong but there you will find Myrddin"

A frown came to his face. He hoped that he had not insulted her. Since he had left home, she was the only person to not make him feel like an outsider. He could not imagine what the dryad must have gone through. Since he was young, he had heard the stories of the dryads. Many were doomed to a lonely life of hiding. Having him complain about home-sickness would just be rude. Tidus bowed his head to her, realizing his disregard for her personal space. He only meant to express a gesture of acceptance.

“That must have been awful for you. I apologize for bringing it up. I don’t know when to keep my mouth shut sometimes. In fact, if you ever met my sister she would be the first to tell you that. Ha..”

He scratched his cheek, hoping to keep the conversation light. Her disposition sparked a protective side to him. Tidus leaned back with relief once she confirmed that she knew where Madora was.

“Wonderful! That really is going to make things much easier!”

He celebrated in a light tone, but his attitude changed at the next warning she gave him. ‘By the sea.’ Tidus knew well the terrors that could be waiting by the sea. It may have been logic or hope that tried to convince him that it was impossible for those creatures had survived. Before he could decide, Selene touched his arm and encouraged him to move with haste.

“But what about… You’ve been so kind to me, Selene. I can’t just leave you here.”

He grabbed his blue hair and tugged at it in stress. He was not ready to make such a decision quite yet.

“Would.. uh. Would you come along? If there is trouble perhaps your prowess with healing can come in handy!”

Without thinking, he took her hand and started to run south. He did not wish to drag her about so roughly, but he did not know what else to do. Tidus ran with his eyes scanning the passing and upcoming surroundings. He could start to hear the tide crash upon the shore not so distantly ahead. The earth beneath them began to mix with sand below their feet as they approached the unknown.

The reflection of the sun could be seen off the surface of the sea. Its light was beginning to break through the low-hanging branches of the forest. Tidus squinted slightly, allowing his eyes to adjust to the brightness when he felt an impact to his shoulder from the right. His feet drifted and his grip left Selene’s hand. A loud grunt escaped his lungs as he was drove to the ground. A sharp hiss pierced his senses and deafened his sensitive elf ears, leaving only a high-pitched ringing in the depths of his mind.

Tidus brought his arms up, pushing back against a mass that constantly tried to converge upon him. His vision focused on the foe with heightened awareness to see a set of mucus-ridden jaws. It snapped at his arm, and just nearly missed his flesh. Tidus shifted his weight and kicked the creature off of him.

There was no time to think. Tidus scurried to his feet into a defensive stance, holding his hands in fists before him. With wide eyes he circled to the right, trying to direct the creature away from Selene. The creature hissed once more and prowled with malicious intent. It charged again and Tidus dove out of the way. The male tumbled onto his knees and drew his hands together. The air around him went frigid and follicles of ice drew itself into a medium sized ball. The mage thrust his hands forth and sent the ice shooting towards his target, hitting inaccurately to the left of the creature.

Tidus hoped back onto his feet and looked in Selene’s direction to make sure that she had not been harmed. Having something to focus on, his mind calmed. ‘alright… focus… don’t fail again, Tidus.. you won’t fail again!’

Theya took the egg from her fathers hands with great caution. She now held the most valuable thing ever given to her... Life. Theyas eyes of wonder and awe looked up to Tythrs.
"D-Dad.... T-... Thank you, I don't know what to say."
Joy filled her heart as hopeful images played through her mind.
What color would it be?
Would it like her?
Would it be a boy or a girl?
How strong could it get? Could they fly through the sky together? Theya always had dreams of flying.
Cradling the egg in the crook of her arms Theya looked past her father at the Griffon statue behind him. Her expression turned dreamy.
"Is it Arales?"

There was nothing in the world he sought for more than seeing the smile of his daughter. At the very site of it, she could heal his nervous heart immediately. His blue gaze watched her as she cradled the egg, and softened at the mention of his familiar. He continued to smile to Theya, but there was a deep-rooted pain in his eyes. They glistened for a moment before he brushed his fingertips over his heart and nodded his head. To this day… it still hurt. Yet he was proud that she was remembered so fondly.

“Yes. Yes it is, so please take very good care of it. Out of everyone in the world, Theya, she chose you. I could not think of a more worthy caretaker.”

Tythrs ruffled the top of her hair jovially and took a deep breath through his nose. One foot after the other, he stepped out of the pool and returned his clothing to its original state. His ears twitched moments before the sound of guards approaching was heard.
“King Tythrs. Princess Theya. May we ask that you stay within the perimeter of the patrol?”
Tythrs glaced at Theya and puffed his cheeks out while rolling his eyes in playful annoyance.

“Of course. I apologize. Just out for an afternoon stroll with my daughter. The water here in this fountain is much cleaner than those in the palace.”

“Yes, your majesty. We will look into amending that issue.”
“Hahah. Honestly, it is a non-issue.”

The Elven King looked behind his shoulder and motioned for her to join him. One of the guards went to her side and bowed politely. He would not force her to move, but would stay beside her until she did. Tythrs sighed quietly to himself. He knew that Theya would not endure such a lifestyle much longer- nor did he want her to.

The last of the vendor carts rolled out of the city square, completing a long day of city-wide cleaning. The crime rate had been the lowest it has ever been, but Rowin still watched with the most keen of eyes for any type of suspicious activity. It had been the entire day since Myrddin had gone, but he had disappeared longer without word before. There was a common cycle to it. Myrddin would leave unannounced, the council would panic, they would summon Rowin, Rowin would retrieve the king, lather-rinse-repeat. Rowin was expecting his summon at any moment.

DING!
…. DING!

The watch tower tolled and a silence took the entire city as everyone turned to the west. Rowin’s eyes widened and his jaw loosened. The meaning behind that particular tower signified only one of two things.

DING!

Three times…

….DING!

Four. One more would mean..

….. DING!

The people of Madora gasped almost in complete unison. In a state of complete and utter shock, the townsfolk grasped each other. Rowin froze with eyes dilated. The sorrow rose in noise, and men and women began to break out in tears.

“No! It can’t be! Not King Myrddin!”
“Not the king! No! Goddess, please no!”
“The king is dead!”
“No!”
“Ohh King Myrddin, say it is not true!”
“Dead!”
“No!”
“No, please!”

That bell had not been rung in 4 years since King Oliver passed from illness. It was not supposed to sound again. Not this soon. The people of Madora mourned with disbelief. Rowin had not moved. He continued to stare at the tower as if insulted. A man holding onto his crying wife and son approached the Captain from his left.
“Sir Silvend. What is happening?”
Not answering the question Rowin broke into a sprint. He ran without stopping in a strait line towards the tower.

A little while later there was a full company of guards from the palace to come help escort the people to the capitol. The refugees from the small village were happy to see them and they felt a lot safer now. They all took turns thanking Fiona and to see their hope returned made Fiona happy for a little. That was until news came back to her from the bird she sent off earlier. “Hello, little one. How was your trip?” She cooed sweetly to it and then it told her the most terrible news she could have ever imagined in her life. Her face went white and everyone can see her heart break right before their eyes. “Myrddin… my…… my Myrddin?” She said in a cracked voice. She covered her mouth with her hand and then tears started to flow from her eyes. She couldn’t believe she was hearing this. The other elves watched her quietly. A lot of them didn’t know what was going on but it was obviously something horrible. Fiona dropped to her knees and there was no stopping it now. She grabbed her face and screamed at the top of her lungs. It was so loud that it could be heard for miles. The guards went to her to offer their help but she just ignored them. She cried and cried and cried until her eyes were dry but she just shook and sobbed after that. A guard literally had to pick her up. She was outside of herself right now. She hugged the guard around his neck and screamed again. She didn’t want to believe it but the spirits would never lie to her.

She was carried for a long time like an hour or so then she tapped the guard’s shoulder to let her down. He obeyed and Fiona looked around. Her eyes had almost lost all of their color. She went onto her horse and didn’t pay attention to anything anyone was saying to her. She only spoke to one guard. “Make sure the people get to the palace safely. Don’t follow me…” She ordered them and then she rode away deep into the forest. She needed to see him. She didn’t want to believe it yet. She desperately held onto the hope that it was all a big mistake. She prayed to the Goddess so much that it was a mistake.

Selene

User ImageSelene tried to listen for Tidus's reaction but he was silent for a moment. She listened to his words and smiled. "I live here." She chuckled as he continued. When he mentioned her being able to help her heart sank. If she were to help she would have to go where there were humans are elves or other beings who would see her as a demon. "Tidus, I ca-" Before she could protest, she was being dragged forward by him. She stumbled after him trying hard to reach out to the plants. Even when she tripped he continued forward bringing her back to her feet. "Tidus...Please..I-" She couldn't keep up. The plants began to direct her as they moved forward but soon she found herself on unfamiliar land. The sand beneath her bare feet were strangers to her. It was dark. She could not feel the energy. Tidus released her arm and she had a moment of panic. "Tidus!" She begged thinking he abandoned her but the sounds she heard frightened her.

"TIDUS?! What is happening?!" She cried out. She could smell the beast. She could hear the power of his jaws clamping down. Stumbling backwards she fell on her back. She had no connection to the environment and was vulnerable. She rolled to her side and pushed herself up trying to listen to the battle. A sudden chill rolled over her body as if winter had come early. Her slender hands moved around the earth in an attempt to find a weapon but couldn't find any.

Finally, her hand grabbed something long and slender. It felt like a branch but it was dead and soaked in salt; a piece of drift wood. "Tidus?" She called out again standing to her feet holding the stick in front of her. She could hear the creature in front of them but did not know how far away it was. She took a step forward and swatted the air (unless you roll a 1 or a 2 she hits nothing).

The alarm in the Dryad’s voice grabbed at the blue-haired mage’s heart. How terrifying it must have been for her to only be able to listen to the terror- to be completely at the mercy of one’s own imagination. Her voice drew the attention of the beast. Tidus shouted in attempt to steal it’s dreadful eye once more.

“Run away Selene! Get out of here!!”

His voice boomed along the tall nearest them. A piece of driftwood skimmed over the top of the creature and it jerked its head back. The blue-haired male’s heart nearly sank into his stomach as the creature turned away and prowled towards Selene.

              “NOO!!!”

Tidus roared and sprinted in pursuit. He was not going to watch another being be harmed because of him again. He would never allow that to happen while he had life left in his lungs. With long, powerful strides, the male beckoned and dove at the shadowbeast. They collided and rolled onto the ground in a primal grappling match. Sharp fangs snapped at the elf while the elf wrestled for position. A swipe of vicious claws ripped the sleeve of Tidus’s right shoulder and tore slightly into his flesh. In the exchange, he did not feel it.

In a burst of brute force, the elf drove his elbow under the beast’s neck. As the fibers of his arms released their strength, an unknown script began to appear on his skin. More importantly than that, his aura began to shift. A blue glow started to pulse under the text as he forced the point of his elbow downward, crushing the windpipe of the creature. Tidus grit his teeth and swooped his hand down to grab a small dagger from a holster attached to his left boot. With a final howl, his aura exploded and he drove the blade down into the heart of the beast. It shrieked and writhed until it became motionless.

The blue male, wide-eyes, breathed heavily and rolled off of the remains. Mere moments later, the shadows began to drift upward from its host like a rising mist. In place of the beast, there lay the corpse of an unnamed human soldier- the knife of Tidus still lodged in his chest. Tidus immediately felt a strong case of nausea. He hunkered over and threw up into the sand, gagging and jolting until he fell onto his knees. His face was pale. He could not look at the man’s corpse. He uphurled what little he had in his stomach and wiped his mouth. He knew he had to do it. There was no way of knowing that there was a man at the helm of the beast. The elf tried to convince himself that the death was just, but all that remained was the lifeless human face. Tidus held his head as his vision spun. He remembered Selene. It was to protect her. He had to repeat that to himself over again.

              “Selene… Are you hurt?”

He spoke in a solemn voice. Tidus forced himself back onto his feet and started to walk towards her. She would not be able to see him, but she would indeed feel his guilt. It was louder than the waves and seabirds that flew overhead.

“Everything is… going to be alright…”

Wendi flew all the way to Veela without stopping. She hated the place because she thought all of those workshops were just plain tacky. Sure they made great weapons and everything but it scorched the lands. She remembered when Veela was beautiful but there was nothing to complain about. As long as it remained out of Human hands she was fine with it. She saw the gates were opened. Did she mention that she hated Lord Ephraim? There was just something about him that she couldn’t stand. This was strictly a business meeting. Trust me, if she had the chance she would kill him herself but right now she needed him alive and apparently he needed her alive too. “How nice of you boys to hold the door open for me.” She said in a snarky voice. Those ugly Veelaian dogs were just the worst. She landed on her feet and walked the rest of the way. She could feel all the eyes on her. What was their deal? Have they never seen a woman before or something? Finally she reached Ephraim and he could see that she was not in a great mood. “I’m here what do you want?” Fiona crossed her arms over her chest and waited for him to talk.

Selene

User Image Selene's breath quickened as the drift wood left her hands. Her mouth was dry and her body stiff. The images of the beasts from her childhood came back to her. The last thing she had ever seen with her own eyes were the eyes of the beast the blinded her. Tears began to run down her face as she felt more vulnerable than ever. Not only vulnerable but useless to help her newly found friend.

At the sound of Tidus's cry out, Selene's body jolted in fear. She was frozen not sure which direction to run. Her lips parted in an attempt to speak out to Tidus but could not gather the courage. Whatever was with them wanted blood. Selene's arms reached out as if trying to grab onto anything in the blackness. The sounds of the waves echoed around her but the snarls of the beasts were what got her attention. She took a few steps forward. With a shaky voice she called out to Tidus.

A thud was heard followed by grunts and cries as the two wrestled around in front of her; distance unknown to her. Feeling helpless, she collapsed to her knees and began to crawl towards him with her hands reaching out in front of her. "Tidus.." She whimpered trying to find him. Suddenly there was silence. Selene's body froze. She listened. Her breath was louder than anything. "T-t-tidus?" Her whimper was but a whisper.

Her body felt numb as she waited. Who was the champion? Finally, Tidus' voice broke the long silence. Selene released the built up air from her lungs as her hands dug into the sand. He ewas alive. Her hands reached out in front of her until she managed to feel his boots. Her hands moved shakily up his leg until she was able to climb to her feet. Her hands moved up his sides until she was touching his arms. Her body was shaking clearly in shock. Her right arm lifted up his arm until she reached his face. Her warm fingers pressed gently on his cheek. A hard sob broke free of its prison as she threw her arms around him not only because she was thankful he was alright but because she was terrified and still trapped in the darkness with her nightmares

Walking through the streets of Madora was a young man with a large smile and a bag.Oh lets not forget the large blue gem in his hand. The young man was name Shulk , Shulk Arland a rouge but a classy rouge in his opinion. He was smiling at the fact that he just got done with a job , one that involved some greedy royal and robbing him of his dirty money. " AHHH! Everyone deserves a payday every now and then eh?" Shulk said looking at the blue gem in his hand. His client had paid him in gold and that gem. The bag had the gold , about five thousand gold to be exact! Which was only a fraction of what he stole from the noble as requested by the client. The gem on the other hand was an extra. He found it in his target's vault and boy was it a beauty! It shined a light blue in the light and Shulk had a gut feeling that it might have some magical energy in it. That would add some value to it on the black market. Though he just waned to enjoy the sensation that came with a big payday and this was definitely a big payday. A gem and gold? It was a rouge's dream come true. With the money he had and was going to get he could probably get some new daggers and a new cloak. Though something in the back of his mind was telling him to stay on watch for something , not sure of what it is.

His shoulder rose and fell drastically with each anxious breath. His heart beat so fiercly that he had to hold his chest, afraid that if he didn’t his heart would explode. His fingertips trembled with both trauma and adrenaline, but his eyes remained focused on Selene- it was the only thing preventing him from breaking down completely. His blue gaze followed her, not feeling a thing until she had felt her way to his face.

              “Se…lene..”

She could feel his jaw tremble without cold. He did not move. He only looked blankly at her face until she pulled him into an embrace. He flinched and his arms remained at his sides for a moment. Humanity began to fill him again, and as his eyes moved back to the dryad, his arms wrapped around her. His guilty hands opened onto her back and for a few fleeting moments, he felt a sane calm.

His pointed ears flinched, and he heard her sob. His immediate desire was to comfort her. The young mage was reminded that no matter what he was feeling, the event must have been exponentially more terrifying for the dryad. Instinctively, he held her.

“I’m so sorry, Selene.. I shouldn’t have put you through such danger.. Let’s get you back home, alright?”

Tidus placed his hands on her shoulders and gently looked into her eyes. Even in the darkness of them, he could see the sincere anguish within them. He smiled and nodded his head, having retrieved his body and mind.

“What’s your favorite flower? I still haven’t repaid you for that lovely chrysanthemum you made for me.”

He took her hand with a gentle grip and started to lead her back into the comfort of her own forest.
Selene

User Image Once her fears calmed down, Tidus had pulled her gently from their embrace. When he spoke she could feel his eyes on her and her cheeks grew red. He didn't know. He was not at fault. She sniffled lightly before wiping tears from her cheeks with the back of her hand. "You didn't know." She whispered. She wanted off the beach. She didn't want to be around the thing he killed. She wanted to be back in the forest.

She was grateful when he led her back towards the forest. Upon entering, she grabbed his wrist to stop him. "We'll go to Madora." She stated. "Things are changing and I can't keep hiding like I am doing. I'll take you as far as I can." Releasing him, she moved forward as if nothing dramatic had occurred. She didn't' want to think about it and she didn't' want to talk about it. The nightmares were once again locked away. "You need more medical help. I don't have the energy to completely heal you. You are not safe here. "

As she moved slowly through the forest, she kept wiping at her cheeks to dry them. It wasn't until she had touched him that she had an idea of what he looked like. She did not answer him about her favorite flower right away because she did not know what they looked like. She only knew of their energy forces however the question did play out in her mind. The only one she could think of was the dandelion. She remembered it when she was younger. "Dandelions" She finally said as she ducked under a fallen branch. "They reminded me of the sun. When I feel the warmth of the sun I can picture dandelions. It is one of the few good things I can recall from when i had sight as a child."

“Ah.. If it isn’t Wendi Florentine, the strong and beautiful Demikin Lord. It has been a while. Are my quarters not to your liking? Perhaps you prefer something more fitting of your… lineage. There is a barn outside if that would make you feel more cozy?”
