Anybody else feel like the pacing this season is all over the place? I like all the ideas in the story, but it feels like things are jumping around too much. Any thoughts?

Actually, it is moving at a decent pace. The first season was a mess.

That's normal for war, civil strife, and political turmoil.

The difference between this series and Game of Thrones is clearly the lack of sexposition to "stabilize" the pace.
