so these two wacky dudes are ~basically~ alien cops
they work for a government agency that deals with alien contact & diplomacy
but they're pretty low-level officers
(mainly they go out and interview ppl with encounter/abduction stories)
but they're also weird ******** and managed to wander into the wrong place at the wrong time
and became the human ambassadors to a visiting alien race, the ui
cue laugh track!!!
2 is visiting earth as the ui leader's secretary
they're a big weird baby and not very cool
(they're one of the few non-scientists on the trip)
so they end up hanging out more with the human ambassadors than the ui

-she's 37 y/o, 6' tall, and pretty solid w/ a paunch
-she is pretty reserved and gruff, and doesn't really like talking to people
-(not mean but not friendly either, u know?)
-that said tho, she's surprisingly funny and very thoughtful (but mostly only to lacey)
-she likes to read shitty paperbacks and do stuff like chop wood/fix cars
-she chain smokes and is usually also drinking and/or eating fast food
-(it's v impressive that she has lived this long)

-he's 33 y/o, 5'8" tall, and stocky/chubby
-he's very anxious and a lil paranoid, but he does like talking to people
-he doesn't sleep well at all though so he's usually exhausted and not into stuff
-he's just an awkward but well-meaning nerd i guess
-he spends a lot of time on the internet and likes conspiracy theories and unexplained mysteries, which he tells al about at length
-despite that he's def the more down-to-earth of the partnership
