This is going to be a major rant, so here goes:
Bad art teachers. Do not get me started on bad art teachers..cause i've had the worst bad art teacher experience that is physically possible, as far as I'm concerned.
I think she's mentally unstable - I've simply never met anyone more unhelpful, more dismissive or frankly more horrible than her. My entire class dreads attending art lessons; they're ridiculously unproductive as no one tends to have a clue what we're doing, thanks to her exceedingly poor explanation skills. Whilst the other two art classes in my year are up to date and doing (pretty much) the same thing of designing wallpaper and drawing from observation, we're off pasting coffins into our sketchbooks and planning drawings of children on fire (and no, I'm not joking, these are both genuine ideas of hers)
I took art because I love it. I guess I'm creatively minded and can only do things that are art-based, and if I'm being honest, I thought I had a pretty good chance of passing. But, this teacher has gone beyond the realms of ruining it for me - not only my enjoyment but my chance of getting a decent grade.
It's not that me, or my classmates, are not trying. At home when I'm working on my coursework I'm fine, as I got a list of the coursework needs from the other art teacher (we have to turn to another teacher for instruction) and have worked through them to the best of my ability, which my teacher dismisses at the blink of an eye. On the rare occassion that she will look at our work progressing, the only thing she can come out with is a critiscism, and certainly not a constructive one at that: 'WHERE'S YOUR FINAL PIECE?' (on the 6th week of our 20 week art course) and 'THAT IS HIDEOUS' (about an unfinished observational drawing of mine)
The point is, I simply can't express how badly she handles her teaching career in any way, shape or form; it's simply a case of 'have to be there'. We've complained, reasoned, rebelled, made suggestions of improvement, but somehow, my school is still crazy enough to employ her.
All I can say is, wish me luck with art GCSE. H
Hmm, rant over...glad I got that out my system smile
