I know it's common for people, namly kids, to immitate that which they love. So I can understand some fans wanting to make their own "anime" or manga. What confuses me, is that when a cartoon is aired, it gets bashed for "immitating" or "stealing" the Japanese style. Why the double standard?

I've noticed the same thing concerning voice actors. Otaku cannot stand the dub voices, yet they long to be voice actors for a Japanese cartoon. Again with the double standard.

Ahem that would be the Elitist, not the otaku.
I guess some otaku are hypocrites, but not ALL are. Maybe they're an otaku because the shows that they like are mostly from Japan. You can't say that ALL otaku put down shows that imitate anime. To say that, you'd have to know ALL the otaku in the world, which includes me. I admit that some anime and manga use recycled storylines. Some otaku have a problem with it when it's not from Japan. I don't. And I'm an otaku. To put it simply, please don't make a stereotype of otaku. Not all otaku are as bad you say they are.

What's the difference?
Elitists don't rape people?

At least not in public.

They probably have a special name for it to. Such as "punishing of the less worthy."

Truth: the only thing more frightening than lies.
Actually, an elitist, though the term is often used as an insult, IS someone who knows the s**t. He/she doesn't let it become the entire life, but if/when asked, can provide a meaningful and correct answer. At least, that's what I think.

I've been called an elitist before, and perhaps it's true. I DO beleive that not all people are equal. We're all born equal, but then it's up to us to make what we can out of ourselves. Besides. The only raping I do is on the psyches of my inferiors. I certainly have no desire to mate with them . . .

Calm down Ernie. Getting a little defensive?
Besides, the raping a psyches still counts as the punishing of the less worthy. Or the stupid. Take your pick.

The cartoon gets bashed because it only immitates the Japanese animation style and not much else.

Otaku want to be voice actors because they believe that they will be able to do a good job or they simply wish that it could be so. You only make it seem hypocritical.
