Is Anime [I]Too[/I] Popular?

I've been wondering lately if anime is getting too popular. I'm a member of a site called animelots. www.s4.invisionfree.com/animelotsII This is the second version. The first had major bugs so this one was created. Now a lot of the admins and mods don't go on because people are starting to really like anime and so they give up on it. Is it too popular now? Did rabid fangirls and n00bs hurt the rest of us? What do you think!

It has been ruined.

Why do I say this?

Because everyday that I have to answer what I like to draw or what cartoons I happen to like are, I am embarassed to answer "Anime".

Why? Because people think I follow a fad by saying this. Like I'm a mindless sheep. The popularity has ruined my originality. I've liked anime since the 80s and I feel very insulted when someone rolls their eyes at me when I state that I like it.

I'm a true fan. Not some damn newbie Inuyasha freak.

The newbies and their obsessive attitudes with their seemingly relentless ability to multiply has ruined the genre for the old fans.

I'm liking anime less and less and the series that I DO like have dwindelled to under a possible 10. All of which are lesser known OVAs or consist of one season (some acceptions).

I hope anime in North America dies soon. So I don't have to be mistaken for a fad following newb anymore.

The difference would be, more real fans and less newbies.

They should cut all anime from american television and then we'll see how many newbies die.

not that many people like anime. most people think " oh great we have to watch pokemon..........." but i like pokemon, or "are we watching porn?" so only fans like it.

I think (and this is my opinion) that you're crazy and irrational. People who you say assume you are mindless are very stupid people. Anime does not equal mindless, preps equal mindless; one should know this if they are true anime fans. X_x

In fact, the most interesting people are often anime or video game lovers. :3 Yes, yes indeed.

But maybe you wouldn't understand because you probably only started to watch when the fad hit.

If not, I really don't care if you think I'm writing a rant or not. Is there some sort of law that stops me from expressing a valid opinion? I see none as of yet!

I never claimed you don't have every right to b***h and fuss and whine because the mainstream is taking away something that used to belong only to you. Not once.

Nevertheless, elitism isn't very pretty.
