I just found out yesterday that there were other types of fish out now.

You'll get used to it. XD
After I went Pro rod Plus, I haven't used any other rod really. I now only use other ones if I feel like switching it up a bit. But the Pro rod Plus is my top choice.
You should try the strength rod if you still have difficulties. That one is more straight and makes it a little easier to pull in fish, but it doesn't go as far (which may mean less bigger fish).
