My thoughts...

Not much. Made sushi in Japanese class today. It was AMAZING.
When we learned Katakana, our teacher always said "Nu for New Sword" for us to remember it (because we used flash cards), so I think of that everytime I hear the word "new".

Also there is the issue of why would you believe something in a youma generated world. If you're going to have a change of heart, that's not gunna work.

(And in case I was missunderstood, I wasn't suggesting we meet in a dream. I was suggesting that dreams change your loyalty after we've been fighting together awhile.)

Well that doesn't make us need to be adopted. The family member thing is a good story hook, but not strictly necessary for an introduction. If we both awaken, and both make a habit of fighting youma's that crop up, we're gunna run into each other.

On the other hand, if you need an emotional reason to get actively involved in the fighting of youma, having one of your relatives in danger might be a good idea. In fact that sort of thing might lead to us working together for a short while until something show's you the 'trueth' and I disbelieve. (Maybe those dreams I mentioned earlier?)
