Possibly.... I know we have one that had a bit of a time doing that, but it could have been because she was feeling like she was over dominated by the first female that was in the house 3 years before her arrival/birth.

They definitely are! I have had both, and find that cats seem to be more possessive to their individual hoomans than dogs are, who are more protective in a guardian way.
