Hello there! I see you've stumbled upon m'profile page. Name's Chelsea MacLellan and I represent the great Canadian province of Nova Scotia. I don't get many visitors here as I'm one of the least remembered provinces in one of the least remembered countries, but when I do get 'em, I make sure they have a good time!
My land was the site of the first permanent European settlement in Canada as well as the first Scottish settlement in the Americas. For most of the 17th century, my land was fought over by the French, English, and Scottish. I also currently celebrate 200 years of democracy!
I became part of Canada, July 1st, 1987... although not entirely willingly. I wanted to form the Maritime Union with my brothers New Brunswick and PEI. Luckily, Sir John A. MacDonald convinced me otherwise. Elseways, I would've ended a part of America.
I participated in both World Wars with a division all of my own, known as the Nova Scotia Highlanders. And on December 6, 1917, a Norwegian munitions ship collied with a French cargo ship in Halifax Harbour, resulting in the world's largest non-nuclear man-made explosion in the world. My entire capital was destroyed and I thought for sure that I was going to die.
Fortunately, one of America's states, Massachusetts, helped my people and I rebuild Halifax and get back on our feet. As thanks, much like Netherlands does for Canada, every year I send him the largest Christmas tree I can find, which he puts on display in Boston.
Recently, in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, my boy Crosby scored the gold medal goal for the men's hockey team! And this year yet again, Cape Breton Island was voted the most beautiful island in the world.
If ya want to learn more about me, just ask and I'll be plenty willin' to answer your questions.
Interesting fact: People tend to claim that I'm more Scottish than Scotland, but I wouldn't dare think that. Although, it is mighty flattering!
My main account is:
One defends, and the other conquers.
