I took a long Hiatus from Gaia and decided to just pop back in. I checked my profile and jeeze louise, I was embarrassing. I had a quote from one of the twilight book, here in my about section. Since that was enough to make me want to fall into a fit of rage, i decided I would off set the balance with amazing books I have read since then. to give an quick background, the Twilight books were some of the first books I had ever read, so I guess I can thank Stephanie Meyer for something.Naughts and Crosses/Black and White. this book has two titles.
this is actually a saga by Mallorie Blackman. 1. Naughts and Crosses 2.Knife's Edge 3. Check Mate 4. Double Crosses
If you've never felt heart break before, read these books (the first book specifically) and you will feel it to the core. To put a little light on how bad this book throw you on the feels train, it took me 6 years to pick up the second book, Knife's Edge
Naught and Crosses is about a world where those with darker skin are seen to be a higher, better race. and those with lighter skin are nothing. hence naught meaning nothing.
The next series I've fallen in love with, is very recent.
The Delirium Trilogy by Lauren Oliver. 1. Delirium 2. Pandemonium 3. Requiem
Never have I ever been immersed so deep into a book series. quickly in the beginning of the book, i was already so attached to this book that it was all I was thinking for months. I was so obsessed with no one to talk to about it, that I forced my mom to read them. She also got sucked into them and admitted that she thinks about them throughout the day when she's not reading. This is rare for her. she reads everyday for more than 10 years and this is the first time I've ever heard her say it.
There's no way to explain the writing other than beautiful.
The Delirium series is about a world where Love is considered a disease. The deadliest of all deadly things, and when a person turns 18 they have a procedure that takes away the ability to love or feel emotions.
I don't want to say more than that because it's a must read for anyone.
and Now I'm just going to list off and recommend other books with about a sentence summary of it. These are all books that I have read in the past year including Delirium series. A lot of them are from Lauren Oliver, my now favorite author since none of her books have disapointed me.
Before I fall- Lauren Oliver- a girl relives the day she dies
Rooms- Lauren Oliver - Ghosts inhabit a house where a family is coming to clean out since their father has died
Vanishing Girls- Lauren Oliver- Girls are vanishing in a town and the sister of one of the girls goes looking for her, but has a huge plot twist at the end.
Shatter me Trilogy- Kate Simses- a girl who skin kills people with just a touch
Warm Bodies-Isaac Marion- way better than the movie, it's actually a beautiful novel. Zombies come back to life with love being the cure.
Mind Games- Kiersten White- some girls have psychic abilities. Annie is blind, but can see visions of the future; Fia was born with flawless intuition—her first impulse is always exactly right. (got this from the real summary)
Life as We Knew It Trilogy- Susan Beth Pfeffer- an asteroid hits the moon closer to earth and causes catastrophic events to happen.
Reconstructing Amelia- Kimberly McCreight- A young girl died falling of her schools roof, but who mother believes it wasn't a suicide. she goes to the lengths of the earth to find out what really happened to her only daughter.
The Maze Runner series- James Dashner- hard to explain in little words. but the first book is the best and I personally thought they got worse each time. Good read, but no essential as the movies are going to be more loosely based.
Red Queen- Amanda Dolan- This book was good, but the writing wasn't as descriptive as i usually like, but I am still excited for the second book that is being written. it's a world where people who have silver blood have powers and those with red have none.
Divergent Series- Veronica Roth-DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIES ITS NOTHING LIKE THE BOOK AND HORRIBLE. there i said it.
I'm going to end it here. I am current in a really good book called Across the Universe by Beth Ravis.
I read a lot more books but these are the ones that I enjoyed the most or the ones that stand out to me the most (:
