I wasn't really aware that anime wasn't as popular as it used to be. neutral That might have something to do with me talking to literally nobody on a daily basis.

It could just be that the site isn't being used by a younger crowd?

I honestly have no idea. I don't really know what's going on for everybody else, but I know that the economy was only still in the process of being totally ******** in the tank when I left. I have no real idea what it's like now because I haven't bothered looking in years.

I also kinda stopped changing my avatar when Tektek went belly up, because they were the best and easiest way for me to do so.

Mostly I kinda stopped because I wasn't having the same experience anymore. Either the people were different, I was different, or a combination of the two. (Missing time being around after my sister died definitely had something to do with my feeling lost and not being able to reintegrate.) But nothing lasts forever, least of all online communities. It goes for as long as it does and then it either gets dramatically shaken up or it just peters out and fades away like what seems to be going on here. The site itself still exists, sure, but for our little communities that we formed within it many of the people have moved on in their lives and such.

Eh, I dunno. I know my personal experience with Gaia involves me getting wrapped up in like three or more different iterations of micro-communities of differing sizes and impacts. They go for as long as they can and I participate. Eventually I stop using the site but just keep kinda logging in but not to do anything (like I have been now). I retain friends and connections from each iteration, so that's cool.
Maybe this time feels different because of how many people were in the WG community at the time and how much we all talked and such and now not so much, or maybe it's because the site itself is so different, I honestly don't know. I just know that it's incredibly hard, if not impossible, to recreate or recapture a feeling once its been lost.

Alright, even with the lack of Deet (I love her lol), I think I'll give them a chance. Naia seems like a cool character anyway. I never thought I'd become so invested in the lives of these puppets, so anything that fills the void until we get another season is good I guess lol.

You said you read one of the books? I'm interested in reading them, but I heard they follow a different story. You think they're worth a read?
