Yeah... I know alcohol is a depressant which would more or less make the depression worse than better. Drugs doesn't help anyone anyways.
They do, yeah. Just got to remember him in a better way than just as him being sad and killing himself to escape life. After all that's probably not how he'd want to be remembered as. He also brought us joy and laughter. Many, many people grew up loving him as an actor and enjoyed the movies he was in. In a way for some he was a role model, I guess.

I'll be fine, not on any medication or using anything for it any more since it didn't really help. Though guess stopping cold turkey wasn't the greatest ideas I should've done but it needed to happen. It's been years since that though.

Yes, the world really is. It's just getting more and more depressing over time unfortunately. Wars, bad economy, price raises, natural disasters, etc. It's enough for some to fall into that. Which unfortunately can lead to people just not care about anything.
You can't talk to them still on Skype? I hope you can still get in contact with them, they sound like really good friends.
Yeah not having anything to do like a job, hobby, school or something, can make one start thinking about things and thinking sometimes is not what a person needs. Thinking can lead to all sort of problems. I know that feeling well.

I didn't read up on him and it's been a long time since he's been in the lime light so wouldn't know. I guess it makes sense a lot of those who are depressed have different coping mechanisms with dealing with it. I can't judge him for it either because I know how it feels. I have been living with depression for years myself ( was rather young when it started for me ).
I know holding it in and not talking about it is got a good way of dealing with it. However I can understand why some do since I did it for several years till it all came out and not at all in a good way. I think researching things and music helped me. It got my mind off of everything at least.

But yes depression is very common and I think it's getting to be too common in this day of age. There's a lot of things that can throw people into such a state today. Especially with the way the world is now.
I don't know if whatever happened to Robin Williams will help prevent it, but you're right that it could get some people to start thinking. I wish he had people to help him so that he didn't feel like he had to take his own life to escape.
You are lucky to have such friends that you can confide in to help you. It's definitely not an easy thing to live with nor is it easy to just get out of it either. emotion_hug
