I have a theory on how this keeps happening... someone keeps hacking into peoples accounts, and uses the "gift giving" system. It leaves no trace, and if they decided to take your money, that means they would have had to make a trade to you cause you can't give someone money with the gift giving system. So their is my theory, I'm pretty sure that is what keeps happening to people (this sort of thing happened to my little brother... his two flaming swords, and all his MC's are gone.)
