I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself. Hi, I'm Rylie Simons Green, I'm 7yrs old, and now offically from Jericho, KS. The last six months have been hell in a hand basket, and if you did know that, then your really out of the loop. Let me clue you in with the events...
Sept 20, 2006- 23 cities all over the country were hit by nuclear bombs. I saw 2 from my window, although they were far away. One in Denver and the other in Minneapolis. At the time, I lived in Rapid City, SD with my mom. Everyone lost power later that night. Everyone was panicking. They started stealing, and stuff. My mommy was smart, she got stuff I needed.
The next day, we we're told of a radiation fallout, and hid in our apartment building's basement, thats when I saw the first person die. The people who took him away said if he didn't die more would have. When the rain stop, and we came out I saw a few that didn't make it inside. We weren't really notified of it apporiately. The city never got much better. A couple of weeks later we got power back, but it only made more problems... Electrical surges all over created fires. A fire burned down our apartments, but we were able to get everything we needed(my meds, I'm Hypoglycemic, and if my diet isn't regulated I need my meds). Now we had no home and mom had been debating on heading to Jericho where my dad's family lives for a while, and the fire just cemented it. The night of the fire, fireworks exploded and all electical things went dead. Mom called it an EPM or something. We left Rapid City the next day and walking, by night fall we found a camp in the town of Hermosa, SD. We got stuck into spending a long time there. This guy would let my mommy leave. Jimmy Sniker wanted to help us, but the bad man hurt my mom really bad and she told me to run. I think the bad man killed her. I found Jimmy and he and 10 or so other people left the camp. It took us 2 weeks to get to Alliance, NE. There was a huge camp there, and it was only by sheer luck we met Roger. He said he was going to Jericho too! He took a big group of us and we headed out a week later. We went from small camp to camp, sleeping in open fields, and watching people die... it was so sad. I took more and more meds because there wasn't enough food. I had candy with me too, but everyone took that after Jimmy died. They didn't know I needed them though 'cause I thought they might not want to keep me around. They found out though 'cause i got really sick the day before we got to Jericho. Jessica carried me the rest of the way, and tried to help me.
When I woke up in the hospital I was so happy to see my dad, Jake Green. My grandma was there too, I never met her, but dad has told me lots about her viva e-mail and stuff. I saw grandpa, and uncle Eric alittle later, after an arguement between them and my dad. Aunt April was in every few minutes checking on me. I felt bad when daddy asked about my mom, but I told him.
Things went on, life went on... The big things that happened were getting a windmill, that was cool. Then Mayor Anderson wanted more but we had to send our people to do it. Uncle Eric went because Aunt April and my baby cousin died. And then New Bern kept my uncle and dad went to save him, but got caught too. Then grandpa left, I was scared i'd be all alone again! But they all came back but a war started between us and New Bern. Then The new government saved us, and they started giving us more power to the town.
... And that is how I'm writing to you now!...
