Reikonji started off as a piece of technology developed to assess a target, adapt to counter said target's abilities, and then destroy the target. It was granted AI and subsequently developed a personality. Reikonji believed it was designed to assess/evaluate & test a target. When he found out that he was to destroy the target, it felt it had been deceived and reacted accordingly. There was an energy-loop building up inside the "machine" and, when the energy buildup was at its peak... BOOM. The piece of technology housing Reikonji exploded, sending the energy waves everywhere. These energy waves then condensed into a corporeal form. While Reikonji is technically asexual, the human form is that of a slender male.
Rei is subsequently naive and reacts poorly to acts of deception and manipulation.
