It's pretty easy. You don't need a "copy" of my program. It's an Internet service, and using it is as simple as doing this:

[img]http://chaoticlogic.net/currentlyplaying/redrooster.png[/img]

Just swap out "redrooster" for your last.fm account name.

I'm going to improve it so that you can customize how it renders the image if you are a programmer yourself.

As for why Gaia Online does it, they want to prevent "botting" by any means necessary, which by extension means preventing as much automation on their site as possible--"better safe than sorry" is their motto when it comes to procedurally generated anything on their site.

Unfortunately for them, it's essentially impossible to enforce it.

I just wrote the program that automates this thing with last.fm today. It reads what you're "currently listening to" according to last.fm's API, and then generates an image based on that.

While I must admit, my image is ******** ugly, I will defend myself by saying I'm a programmer, not a graphic designer.

Oh, and you know what's funny as hell? Gaia tries to ban procedurally generated images by prohibiting things like a ".php" suffix in the
