I am a poetess and writer. I've been working with both for as long as I can remember, although I sometimes take extended leaves of absence. In poetry, my specialty has typically been form poetry, though my more recent experiments tend to be in free verse. In prose, I've done work as a scriptwriter for graphic novels, and on novella or novel length fiction pieces as time allows.
My faith is Christian and I count it dear, but I believe someone who wishes to truly be strong in their faith must be open to the idea that they could, at any moment, discover everything they have ever believed is wrong. This attitude keeps us from knee-jerk defensiveness in discussion or debate, and forces us to strengthen our faith so that we know why we believe. For myself, I love open, honest, but polite and respectful dialogue.
I was bred, born, and raised in Rochester, NY. However, I've lived abroad several places (Sevilla, Spain; Quebec City, Quebec; Seongnam, S. Korea; and Jeonju, S. Korea) and my self-identity is probably closest to Spanish. I miss Sevilla constantly, especially in the Spring around Holy Week and the April Fair. It's where I've felt the most at home, and as though I belonged.
As a result of this interest in travel, I speak several languages. English is my mother tongue, but I am fluent in Spanish and French as well. Other languages I am familiar with, I speak a smattering of, or a handful of phrases.
My undergraduate degree was in Biblical Studies and Spanish, with a minor in French, combining many of the above interests. I am also a history buff, especially with regards to Tudor England or Heian Japan.
