The anxiety thing is really common and I think hits most people at one time or another. Yep, regular sleep is so key to so many things. It's lack causes loss of half your intellectual capacity and affects judgement greatly. Perhaps one day you'll have a job that is a night shift one, since you're a night owl. It's one most people don't want. It just depends on your chosen profession.
I take it you now have different ways to lessen anxiety and stress that work pretty well. What works best differs from person to person, but it takes pretty extreme ongoing stress, like life and death stuff to do that to me now. Age otoh really can interfere with sleep after 55 or so and it only gets worse from there.
