The Origin of Green Arrow



Oliver Queens’s story starts when he washes up on a deserted island. A play boy who fell into millions when his parents died, Oliver never gave much back to society and lived his life how he wanted; Of course he made many rivals and enemies. After being pushed over board by one of his own employees on his boat, Oliver was presumed dead and lost at sea, but had in-fact washed up on an island. Oliver had a talent for archery and using his own initiative built a bow made out of spare parts of a broken generator, using his make shift bow Oliver began hunting in order to eat. Spending weeks alone on the island, Oliver began to search and found a small settlement with no people, he soon tried to retrieve water from the well but found the dark truth that hid at the bottom! The people of this village had been killed and their remains thrown into the well. Oliver was shocked by the horror of this action and knew that these men needed to be brought to justice. Later a plane came towards the island and Ollie began to signal it, they opened fire, But using his bow Ollie managed to gain the upper hand and downed the plane. He was able to get off the island when some drug smugglers mutinied and took over a cargo ship. Dressed in a leafy costume he had made on the island, and covering his eyes with a mask of grease from the anchor chain, he managed to capture the mutineers and save the crew it turned out that they where the drug smugglers who had killed the islanders, picking up his bow Ollie began fighting back and over powered them, his first taste for crime fighting he handed the drug smugglers over to the police and returned to a world he was set on changing for the better.


Green Arrow Look Would Later Change When he Lost All His Money (DC Said it made him look More gritty) Using his vast fortune, he began to create various trick arrows to use under his new mantle. These include the rope arrow, the electric arrow, the explosive arrow, etc. Later on, But Ollie did not stop there in his early time he also built an Arrow car and an Arrow Plane, he even used the idea of the Bat signal for his own use but changed it to the Arrow Signal that Star City could use to call him when he was needed. Green Arrow was joined by a younger counterpart named Speedy. Also a skilled archer, the two were a formidable team and worked together for quite awhile. Eventually, Speedy joined up with the Teen Titans East coast, and became their leader.Green Arrow became a much darker character after he lost his fortune and became more in tune with the streets he protected, even growing a goatee that is now famous, it was during this time that Ollie became very left winged in his political views and became very out spoken in his views. Unlike Batman Green Arrow had no problem with telling the world his points of view and as such the two find it very to agree or work with each other, but do so when the time is called for. while Green arrow stayed with the Justice League. He was given the name, Green Arrow, by the press and soon became a member of the Justice League of America. His political views also brought him into direct conflict with a soon to be friend, Hal Jordan. While Green Arrow demanded changed on a massive scale, Hal wanted order and was a Liberal figure and wanted to work with the government rather then against it. Ollie saw Hal as a man trapped within his role as a Green lanterns Corp member and that he could not see those who really needed help. So the two of them set out around America and the two witnessed crimes that affected the day to day life’s of Americans. It was Hal who had to show Ollie the truth about Speedy and why he had become so distant and angry. While Ollie had traveled Amreica he had not been paying attention to his own problems, Hal showed Ollie Roy shooting up on speed was an eye opener for the hero and with the help of Black Canary they helped Roy beat the addiction.


Green Arrow Kills



Green Arrow fell in love with Black Canary during his time in the justice league and the two began a relationship that has spanned the decades. A love that would lead to Green Arrow killing a man. Black Canary is captured as she tries to stop a group of drug dealers, Green Arrow starts the hunt and soon comes into contact with Shado, a deadly archer who is hunting the men who killed her family. Ollie at first is shocked by her ways but teams up with her in order to find Black Canary. They finally find her, Black Canary is tied up and has been beaten and tortured a man in front of her lifts her chin and implies that he is about to “have some fun with her” a green shafted arrow explodes out of his throat. The two men that have been holding her are killed and Green Arrow unties the woman he loves, his anger getting the better of him as he leaves the dead drug dealers behind. Green Arrow moved from Star City and relocated to Washington. His old gadgets left behind as Green Arrow became a lot more dangerous, willing to kill rather then so mercy to the scum that lurked the streets. It was now that Ollie met Eddie Fyers who would become a close friend to Ollie. Ollies actions caught the attention of the police who would hunt him due to his violent actions towards criminals. Ollie was forced out of Washington when he is accused of helping terrorists, all of this became to much for Black Canary who during this time had lost her powers and was now unable to have children, Canary broke up with him over everything that had changed him.

One year after Ollie would once again meet Shado. Ollie was blackmailed into hunting her down to find a tressure map by CIA Agent Osborne, Ollie finally caught up with her in but as soon as he found her, she shot him in the chest with her own arrow. Shado went on to nurse him back to health, we also discover that while he was healing and drugged from the medication that Shado had given him that he was raped by Shado and conceived a son called robert. Ollie would not discover this till years later.After she had healed him she said that she mistaken him for one of her attackers and he left without the map. When they met years later Shado showed Ollie his son Robert and went on to tell him how she had raped him. She then told him she wanted him to have nothing to do with his son.

Zero Hour


Ollie began to return to his hero routes and played a pivotal part in Zero hour when Hal Jordan had gone mad Ollie had no choice but to shot his friend just at the right moment to allow the other heroes a chance of beating him. Ollie had helped Hal earlier that year in saving his long time love interest and was one of the main reasons why he came back into the Hero world after he lost his way. Some time later, Ollie discovered he had a full grown illegitimate son, Connor Hawke, also a skilled archer. Ollie and Connor became close and Connor even decided to help Ollie with his crime fighting. But disaster was soon to strike the two as Ollie would infiltrate a group of eco-terrorists known as the Eden Corps and sacrifice his life in order to prevent the group from detonating a bomb that would destroy the city of Metroplis . Connor decided to take over the mantle of the Green Arrow in his father's honor. This wasn't the end for Ollie, though. Hal Jordan, now with his godlike powers as the Spectre, revived Ollie from the dead but there was a problem with what Hal had done, Ollie memory had been damaged, his memory his mind wiped before the events of Black Canary being captured . Ollie being revised was used by the Grandfather of Stanley Dover who wanted to gain control over Stanley's monster. As the battle rages Connor teams up with his father and at the climax of the fight Ollie's soul returns from heaven and helps Connor fight the daemons now attacking them, Dover is eaten by the monster he tried to control and then leaves now with no master. Ollie finds himself with money again, in-fact very wealthy as Dover had transferred all of his money over to Ollie in order for taking over his body. Ollie also picked up a new side kick by the name of Mia Dearden who had lived on the streets from a young age.


The Return Of Hal.


Hal was killed during Zero Hour and a new Green lantern took his place Kyle was a young cartoonist who found it hard filling the shoes of Hal. But he was the first Lantern to discover , an alien life form built of fear hiding within the Green Lantern power battery. Crashing back on earth Kyle tried to warn the others but he was to late and Parallax began to take hold. But something strange was happening Guy Gardner found himself changing and Kyle was forced to face of against Sinestro, while the two fought, Ollie appeared and in the heat of battle was forced to use a green lantern ring that took all his will power to control. Just as it looked as if Ollie and Kyle where about to fall the ring that Ollie had escaped his finger and Hal held out his hand and saved Kyle and Ollie, the return of Hal Jordon sent shock waves into the DCU and the Green Lanterns corp returned





Identity Crisis



But Ollie had been part of a group that mind wiped Dr Light after he discovered the ture idenity of the jutsice league and also Batman who tried to stop them, ths event became known as Identity crisis and would effet all those involed and the DC world as we knew it. This is when Green Arrow started a fued with Slade Wilson who wile fighting the League was stabbed in his empty eye socket by the emearld acher. Roy came to visit and the two went on a trip down memory lane, to pick up something that Ollie said he needed. On the journey Ollie confronted Catman one of Batmans old enemies who was now fat and a loser, Ollie wanted to know why Catman had gone to Hal’s funeral and even went to the extent of firing two arrows into his shoulders and pinned him to the wall, this was something that would change Catman for the rest of his life. Ollie was looking for one of which was Hal’s green lantern Battery and a power ring Hal had entrusted to Ollie. They two found this in the Arrow Cave and the two joked about the old days. We discover that Ollie had always known that Connor was in-fact his son, he was even there to hold Connor when he was born and had abandoned Connor and his mother, because of his fear of the responsibilities of fatherhood After this Ollie joined the Justice League Elite a group of heroes who worked as a black ops team, there main focus was to deal with meta human threats before they became public knowledge. The team was to work in the dark and to do the things that the JLA could not be seen doing. Ollie had a relationship with Dawn the wife of Manitou Raven. The two would later fight over the way Dawn was being treated by her husband but in the end Raven ends up saving Ollie.


A New Speedy


Later it came to light that Mia had HIV , This hit Ollie hard , he told Mia not to go back out on the streets and fight crime and was also dealing with a new villain by the name of Danny Brickwell or Brick as he was called, a meta human with an almost unbreakable red skin. Brick went on a crime spree taking over the streets from the mob and also gave himself up to the police. But was set free less then twenty four hours later, as he had taken the mayors daughter hostage, Connor and Ollie start shacking everyone down to save the daughter but came up with nothing. During a night out on patrol Green Arrow is set up and finds himself surrounded by a group of Bricks men, but just as it looks like he is about to be beaten Mia comes in wearing a new costume and saves him. Ollie escapes and tells her to hang up her costume, but she tells him that she wants to do something good with her life. She later goes on to do a talk at her school and Ollie's anger gets the better of him and goes of to face Brick by himself, the two face off and GA gets the upper hand firing a glue arrow into his mouth, Brick starts to choke and Green Arrow saves him and reminds him that the only reason he is alive is because he let him and leaves. Mia talks to him again Ollie agrees to let her back out on the street. Roy finds out the about Mia and confronts Ollie and they talk about his past and how it could have been him and that Mia took the name speedy out of respect for him. Roy gets captured by Drakon and Team Arrow sets out to save him along with the outsiders.


One Year later


Ollie Retrains During the the event one year Later Ollie hired the world's best martial arts masters to train him to the peak oh physical human condition. A rift was formed between Ollie and Connor when he hired the assassin named Natas (whom had trained Deathstroke the Terminator) to mentor him in the killing arts. Then Ollie decided to try to make a difference in Star City by running for and becoming mayor. He won, and he used this position to aid in his "other" job.

After this the world changed and Star City much like Gotham during No Man's Land when it was cut of from te rest o the world, Green Arrow teamed with the mob and local Gang's to help protect the streets when mutated creatures where realised. As Mayor Ollie began forcing the world to see the trouble that Star City was in, forcing the media to report on the gay weddings he conducted, in one series we see Ollie marry over 140 couples on the steps of city hall, in order to be married they had to stay in Star City for more then fourteen days, forcing them to spend money in his city and helping bring revenue into the city. He later went on to keep taxes back from the government once again helping his city to be strong. Hal offers to remove the Wall around Star City but Ollie says no, it was not time and his city was not ready. A attack on Ollie was put out by a group trying to gain money and control over the city, Ollie uses an inside man to black mail the company into actually helping him.

Bruce wayne steps in to help the city rebuild and for once Ollie thanks him and the two later go on to face off against Brick and Jason Todd who is pretending to be the Red Hood. It was also here that Roy took up the mantle of Red Arrow and joined the Justice Leauge, Roy took the name out of respect for his former role model and wanted to continue the family name. Red Arrow is now a strong part of the Justice leauge but something happend to him that would shake the Arrow Family to it's core.


During his time as mayor he was confronted by Deathstroke once again, It later turned out that this was a trap set up by Ollie to catpure Deathstorke, In the end Slade had no choice but to surrender. But all was not what it seemed with while in prison deathstroke set up a meeting between himself and Constantine Drakon, Slade wanted to know what had happened to Green Arrow in the year that he Vanished, Drakon had been keeping tabs on Ollie and told Slade everything This meeting of course lead to thier escape after making a deal with the warden and tlling him that they would make him Mayor. Afterwards Ollie went on to hand over his mayor title to his closet aid during the above events and went back to being Green Arrow.








Green Arrow Ties the Knot…Finally
Green Arrow & Black Canary It had been along time coming but it finally happened, after helping Black Canary save her little sister Sin and adjust her to life as a normal child, Ollie even managed to get her into school. But before he could do that he had to make it look like Sin was dead and without telling Black Canary he came up with a plan. Pretending to kill Sin in front of the League of Assassins, when in fact she was saved by speedy in Black Canary went into a rage and attacked Ollie, only to discover the truth, he needed her emotions to be real so that they would believe that Sin was dead. After all of that Ollie finally proposed to her. But it was not the end of their troubles as Deathstroke and Drakon lanuch an attack on the two of them, just as it looks like they have the upper hand and Ollie actually begs that Slade lets Dinah go along with the rest of his family, the justice Leauge arrives only to be stopped by Slade and a gadet desgined with all of their weakness, it only works for a few moments but allows for them to make their escape.



Finally They Get MarriedAfter each had their own bachelor party, they finally tied the knot and on their wedding night Green Arrow went mad and tried to kill her, only for Black Canary to get the upper hand and kill Ollie. It later turns out that this of course was not Green Arrow and in fact an imposter, Ollie was being held hostage Athena. Team Arrow set out to save him, but after they free Ollie, Connor is struck down by a bullet meant for his father and is left in a coma this bullet was fired by a member of the leauge of Assassins who had been tricked by Shado . Even with this tragedy Dinah and Ollie get married, only to discover that Connor has been taken by a shadowy figure, They discover that Shado had infact made a deal with Dr Sivana in order to save their son from dying of Leukemia. Setting out the newly married team find Connor who has come out of his coma thanks to Dr Sivana. But Shado's son was not as lucky and Robert is later aged by Sivana and becomes a mindless drone, Once again Shado has to turn to Green Arrow and family to help save Robert from this fate.





Black Lantern
During the events of Blackest Night Ollie is made a Black Lantern by Nekron. A Black Lantern can be anyone who has died, Ollie watches trapped within his own body as the Black Lantern ring takes control and torements Black Canary and Speedy. Spiting lies and messing with their heads he has the upper hand, just as Connor Hawke returns from his travels they face of against the Black Lantern Ollie. Oliver soon fights back and regains control cutting a hose in front of him as the Black Lantern takes over once again. Connor takes the chance and sprays Green Arrow with the hose which freeze's him solid on the spot.
Cry For Justice.
A Cry For Justice

Ollie and Hal once again team up and form another Justice league, After the main team get beaten by the Shadow Cabinet. The two old friends discover that Prometheus has been planning something and head off to warn the other Justice League. Prometheus was already one step ahead of them pretending to be Freddy Freeman, from here Prometheus manages to defeat both teams and cuts of Red Arrow’s left arm. This effected Ollie on so many different levels as he watched his protégé’s arm being cut off. What did this mean for Red Arrow! Before Prometheus can escape Donna manages to capture him and he tells them his plan. Using a series of teleporters we was going to send cities to random spots in time. Ollie does not believe him and for that Prometheus sends through one of his portals.

Events take a turn for the worst, now with Roy down and Green Arrows Grand Daughter killed at the hands of Prometheus, Ollie is pushed to the edge once again. Face to face with the man who mutilated his adopted son and killer of his grand daughter and possibly everyone in star city, Ollie takes his own brand of justice and shots an arrow into the head of Prometheus killing him. But what does this mean for Green Arrow and the heroes of the DCU, has Ollie gone to far or was it simple Justice.
