As for friends, it is by choice. Friends allow ones enemies a hold, that can be used to drag one down. Allies on the other hand, are far more useful.

Perhaps my time in service has tainted my perceptions, but a friendly hand makes me wonder he the other holds a knife...

Do not forget who it is that has always been behind you. Do not forget who it is that has always been there, cleaning up after you. Your history is as long and bloody as any that has been written, and while you may have removed yourself from grace, you are not yet exempt from my trade. I am still here, standing behind you, waiting for your place in my book to come to pass. Powerful as you may be, your time will still come.



And when that time comes you will, as you have already mentioned, stand before him to await your re-judgement.
