If I added you randomly without PMing you first, odds are that I found you through my email contacts and we've met IRL. But I don't do that often, because the thing keeps not working. Anyway.
I'm Meme, for now. If I get bored eventually I might change my Gaian username again, but only if I can afford it. I've gone by Manhattan, Bite the Wax Tadpole, and Hitchcock Pajama Party. The most recent name change was complicated by the fact that the first time I changed my name there was a typo, so I had to pay the gold to make the change again.
I have Asperger's Syndrome, a gigantic nose, and used to always wear a hat of some kind, usually a trilby fedora. If you had to describe me in one word, you'd fail miserably. Songs are a different matter. Combine "Add It Up" and "Gone Daddy Gone" by the Violent Femmes, "Walking on the Sun" by Smash Mouth, "Strangers on a Train" by Lovage, and "Airbag" by Radiohead. You'll get the beginning of a picture of my personality and all its complexities. Or should I say persona? I've felt a draw to the Harlequin as a spiritual force and metaphor for my life, and the truth of the matter is that everybody puts up masks. There's no way of seeing the face beneath the mask, but if you get close enough to a person, you can see the set of masks they try to hide from the world, instead of the masks they hide behind.
The truth about my relationship with Gaia is that it's my favorite mask collection to put on. Today I'm in white and gold with wings like an angel. Today I am a regular guy. One day I'm a work of art, the next I'm mirroring someone else. Who can tell which mask is closest to the true self? Or if there is a true self at all?
What do your masks look like today?
