"Just once I'd like to ask someone for help and hear them say 'Sure. Let's go. Right now. No strings attached.' "
**Note: Some are from the actual game, some is from my own writing of my Shepard character. Thank you.**
Shepard was born 5.12.2154, is a graduate of the N7 special forces program (service no. 5923-AC-2826), and is initially assigned to the SSV Normandy as Executive Officer. Shepard later becomes the first human to join the Spectres, an elite special task force for the Citadel Council.
He had a rough childhood in the slums of Earth, and gained a gritty edge to his personality. He enlisted at the age of eighteen, in order to avoid falling into the trap of gang culture and poverty. In reality, he had escaped the slaughter of his gang and is one of the few sole survivors.
Throughout his military career, he held fast to one basic rule: get the job done. For that, Lucian has been called cold, calculating, and brutal. Lucian's reputation for ruthless efficiency makes his fellow soldiers wary of him.
Lucian was then offered the opportunity to become a Lieutenant by taking care of a small "problem." In retaliation for the Skyllian Blitz, the Alliance raided Torfan in 2178.
A huge band of pirates, slavers and batarian warlords, partly funded by batarian financiers, launched an attack into the Skyllian Verge, intending to destroy Elysium. The attack was partly a batarian reprisal for humanity's expansion in the Verge, and partly the result of tensions from the Alliance's pirate suppression campaigns.
Though the Alliance took heavy losses, the enemy was annihilated. Lucian had sent 3/4ths of his unit to its death and murdered surrendering batarians on Torfan. Due to his actions, he was immediately promoted (as well as to cover up) to Lieutenant and earned "The Star of Terra", one of the highest ranking medals in the Galaxy.
Weapons able to use:
* Heavy Pistols
* Submachine Guns
*Incendiary Ammo: When activated, Lucian's or squadmate's weapon causes fire damage to targets which burns them over time. This stops health regeneration in targets, and can cause unshielded enemies to panic. Synthetic enemies are resistant to fire damage.
*Cryo Ammo: When activated, a clip of the ammo of the player's weapon is empowered and has a chance of freezing enemies without any special defenses for a short time, preventing them from moving. Frozen enemies are more susceptible to damage and can even be shattered for an instant kill.
*Charge: The Vanguard uses biotics to augment speed and strength, and charges across the battlefield towards a target. This culminates in a powerful collision that sends enemies flying backward, inflicting massive damage. The collision negates the mass of an enemy, allowing for even the largest of enemies to be sent flying backwards.
This power also compensates for impeding obstacles, by allowing the Vanguard to 'phase' through solid objects en route to their target. It can also be used on enemies who have been levitated by other biotic talents, and can multiply physics damage to send them off into the distance. As the Vanguard further masters this ability, Charge will slow down time as the Vanguard heads towards the target, permitting additional damage.
*Shockwave: When used, the power sends out a series of explosive biotic impacts in front of the user ignoring any obstacles. It can be unleashed along the ground to launch all enemies in its path into the air, or used against airborne targets. It is worth noting that when Shockwave hits a shielded target it will be stunned for around 2 seconds, losing a bit of shield depending on your skill's impact force, but won't be thrown into the air.
*Pull: Vanguards can use Pull to generate a mass-lowering field, which levitates enemies into the air. While aloft, enemies will slowly drift towards the biotic, allowing any allies to finish them off effortlessly. The biotic can also combine the Pull effect with a Throw or Charge.
*Assault Mastery : This power upgrades Lucian's power recharge time.
*Champion: Lucian's power has allowed him to survive marathons of combat. Power-recharging time and he receives a bonus to biotic power duration. Upgrade of Assault Mastery.
*When Shepard becomes inducted as a Spectre, according to Admiral Hackett Shepard is, technically, still part of the Alliance military (though Captain Anderson claims otherwise). Therefore, Shepard should still be referred to as a Commander, even though Shepard is outside of the Alliance military's chain of command and only answers directly to the Council.
* Military ranks can, in some situations, be deferred in favor of civilian ranks. Considering the nature of Spectres in the game, it is likely that is considered to supersede any military rank.
*It would appear that Shepard has a gift for being a leader. Miranda Lawson draws attention to this, claiming that Shepard has "that fire that makes someone willing to follow you into hell itself". This is similar to the protagonist of BioWare's Knight's of the Old Republic, who is also said to possess such an ability.
*To keep the exact nature of Shepard's return quiet in Mass Effect 2, it is often stated that the Commander almost died, which is not really truthful. Shepard would later joke with Jack that he is "technically undead".
*When stopped by a C-Sec officer on their first return to the Citadel in Mass Effect 2, one of the dialogue options has Shepard say that he/she was "only mostly dead." This may be a reference to Miracle Max's line from The Princess Bride.
*On a separate occasion, after being told yet again that Shepard was thought dead, the commander responds, "I got better", this may be reference to the Monty Python and The Holy Grail witch burning scene.
