Actually, I didn't, I merely work at an existing farm as their vegetable farmer. Even so, it still has all the excitement of starting my own farm. I get 30% gross income, which will be a lot once we hit $200,000 sales this year. I basically grow all the vegetables/manage production, handle the marketing, do customer relations, etc.

I would imagine that this is the ideal way to do it. Most other young farmers essentially start out with no pre-existing knowledge of how to farm whatsoever, and as a consequence many of them fail. I have the ability to learn in a safe environment where I already have all the tools provided for me, and all I have to do is produce as much as I can.

Depends on the area. Mine was 150 from a good breeder. I've seen them as high as 275. The set up can be spendy too because you need a heating system and stuff.
