Well I think you should you know offer him a hug, then you're giving him a chance to come to you rather than you go to him. He can make the choice then.

Otherwise, a wave and a hello really is enough for him as jumpy as the guy can be sometimes when it comes to new people. We had to almost literally chase away these two girls that were trying to hit on him the other day, poor guy looked like he didn't know where to go. He kept looking around for an escape, we'd only turned our backs for literally ten seconds >_<
