It was a cold night, and a cool breeze swept across the darkening sky. The breeze gently swayed Bracken’s dark wings, as she gazed at the dissolving sun in the distance. She gave a heavy sigh and sat next to her cave. Then, she heard a faint cry in the city nearby. Bracken quickly took flight and followed the sound of the gentle whimpers until she stumbled across an vacant alley.
There an injured fairy lay on the cold asphalt ground crouched down in pain. The face of the injured fairy came into view when she tilted her head into the streetlight’s bright light. Bracken soon realized that the face was an old friend of hers face. “Azura?” Bracken asked curiously. “B-B- Bracken?” she whispered as she drifted out of consciousness. Now with the wind picking up and the total darkness looming overhead, Bracken took her friend Azura back to her cave with her. When she got there, Azura was still unconscious so she lit some lanterns and laid her friend on her couch.
Many hours later, Azura had awaken from her sleep. “Hello? Where am I ?” Azura asked into the dim lighted room she sat in. “You are in my cave Azura Cornshimmer.” A familiar voice stated as a figure came out of the shadows. “Bracken? Bracken Icewand? Is that you?” she asked nervously. “Indeed it is. It has been very long since we have seen each other last. It feels like years doesn’t it?” Bracken asked. “Perhaps it does.” Azura said. “What happened to you back there anyway? I saw you had some nasty scars and cuts on your arms.” Bracken questioned. “That’s another thing I need to talk to you about. Remember the team of fairy friends you were once part of? Well, fairy hunters have been tracking us down and trying to kill us. I had an accidental run in with one back there.”
“That’s terrible. Let me guess, you guys can’t handle them yourselves so you come to a darkness fairy like myself to restore the peace and kill them all?” Bracken suggested. “Well, yes. We alone are not enough, and we all know that with one flick of your finger you could create a tornado that could destroy a whole country. Estrellita only has earth and nature powers, and they are barely protecting her and Hex. Hex can only light a simple flame, big enough to make a campfire. She has been losing her powers more and more everyday.” Azura calmly stated. “Hold on, you mean to tell me that two of the greatest fairies to roam the earth can’t even defeat hunters, and are losing their powers?!” Bracken asked looking stricken. “I’m afraid so, and Bracken you were always the one with the most power. You were the best fairy out there! Why did you run away from it all? “ Azura asked looking concerned.
“It always seemed like nobody wanted me around, especially Hex. She was always frustrated and disappointed in me. No matter what I would do. I rescued her from all kinds of danger and I never even got a simple thank you! I was so disgusted with her it forced me to live here miles away from her and her harmful and malicious personality!” Bracken claimed angrily, as her eyes turned blood red. “I figured it was something like that. We need to help them though! I don't care if you won't help her but please try and help Estrellita and I! We need you, don't make this difficult!" Azura yelled. " Fine but keep Hex away from me, and keep behind my back because I work alone. Give me awhile to get ready. This will be a hard mission to accomplish, so get some rest Azura." Bracken commanded.
Bracken then stepped outside of her cave into the moonlight. She stood there pondering what might happen next. She was gazing at the stars , and her wings were gently swaying gracefully in the cool breeze that came towards her. This was her favorite time of the night, she guessed it would be a good idea to enjoy it tonight. She stood there for quite awhile with her pitch black wings and dress flowing in the cool breeze of the night while Bracken practiced
