About Me:

My name is Tiffy. I was born and raised in Texas, U.S.A., but I currently live in Seoul, South Korea. I teach English to elementary school students. I plan to spend my life traveling the world.

As far as Gaia Online, I have been a member since July 2006. Most of my accomplishments are related to zOMG! where I have pretty much done all that you can do in the game. From time to time, I will work on my last badge or sMOB or YM just for fun. Otherwise, I sometimes like Fishing or playing Lake Kindred.

Unfortunately, I am not as active anymore. I have no real goals left on this website or much desire to change my avatar. However, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to chat. I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. ^^

Oh my gosh. Sorry! I somehow missed that you had responded! ><'

'********' is the best thing evar! xd (i've been cautioned on the word 조카. because it is close to 좆까. *snickers* such a dirty word. xd )
The closing consonant in a syllable is almost never pronounced, but it will lend "strength/power" to the next syllable if it starts with a consonant. usually that addition is aspiration. for example.... 빨갛게 (redly) the hieut here is not pronounced, but the kieuk following it in the 3rd syllable is pronounced like a standard English k (and not a g. normally intervocalic stop consonants gain voicing. but the hieut here adds to the kieuk (in IPA, we write that little h superscript above the consonant.. funny how it works here)).
Try saying jeo-ga-rak and don't worry about the jieut you've cut off. The less emphasis on the first syllable, the better. ((lol Korean has too many hilarious p***s words. xd best of luck!))
If you need practice on spelling, duolingo is not the worst. I hate the program as I believe it teaches nothing, but it does reinforce vocabulary, spelling and reading skills.
You can also practice reading.
Naver has a dictionary app that is quite nice too. Naver Dict or something like that. It's designed for Koreans learning English, but it can work both ways. It has a lot of little quizzes you can do.

6 months off? NICE! Enjoy it! See some blossoms and enjoy everything you can! biggrin

Oh I know that frustration! >< It's hard to get the syllable blocks right since verbally they shift the letters around in their mouths (cluster reduction, and basically a strong pull to V and CV shaped syllables).
Dictation tests are the best thing you can do. Listen and write down, then check over your "spelling".
You can also target words and memorize the spellings. (i've had to do both)
But yeah, it just sucks. ><'

Also eo and o are evil to our English ears. ><;' One trick is if you can see the speaker. The o vowel is super rounded and sometimes almost sounds like a uuu. Eo is never rounded. ^^' (but for like songs, radio broadcasts, etc etc.. it's just hardddd)

Hang in there! At least they usually find our mistakes "cute". xd

Is it the grammar or the pronunciation or vocabulary you're having trouble with in Korean studies? Or is it listening? Chondaemal or banmal?
