"The best thing for being sad is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder in your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honor trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then- to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you."
-Merlyn, The Once and Future King, by T.H. White

I'm nik. My brainchild is La Tierra, a Harry Potter Role Play website I've created, taking place somewhere a bit closer to home, Los Angeles. Remarkably tame for being in such an explosive city, but what do you expect of magical teenagers?

Gaia is a vague hobby to me, a place to peek around and stumble upon some unique and talented people, and enjoy the humor of the site itself. I can even look past the shameless money grabbing at times, so long as they keep releasing items like Wonderland. (Flamingo. Croquet. Mallet. OH YES.)

I've been so out of it for the past week, sorry to take so long to reply. By now you might have moved? It's rather distressing that the landlord would be showing the apartment while you were living in it, but perhaps considering the economic times, he really needs the money? I've never lived on my own, but is a that standard policy for apartment renters, or just your landlord's?

I've actually borrowed a book from the local library on upcycling t-shirts. It's pretty awesome, although I'm still kind of...practicing. I have all these old orchestra shirts that I never wear but might come in handy. Now I wish I had more oversized t-shirts.

South-Packard. Yes, with a hyphen. It sounds like some sort of company that deals in...possibly paper products?

Have you gotten any yet that are really pure jibberish, not even potentially a word proper?

I liked the CS items that came out, but I'm past the prom-going age, so I was rather put off from the start. I think considering, it wasn't too bad, but I didn't like having PROMPROMOMNOMNOMNOM shoved in my face every three days before the event x:<

Sadly, I did miss the bathroom! Ah, it was all laggy so I mostly chilled elsewhere. I don't think I'd mind it if the dancing game became a permanent Gaia game, though how they'd work in the whole towns aspect and stuff...

It's very easy to get in a rut. I think a lot of users kind of fall through the cracks -- there's less and less of a community of users, and more of a society of individuals. I guess I stick around because I have few other means to interact with people, and also because my inventory is expensive now.

"Vietnam solemn". Perhaps it's the influence of your profile, and/or your hippie nature, but these captchas are sending quite a message.

I have found myself on Gaia quite a lot, but also bored out of my mind. I'm resolved to start exploring some friendlier forums, try more games, and maybe even an impossible quest? This epiphany is inspired partially by my upcoming 19th birthday.

You know, I thought I was really good at multitasking. And then I found myself online typing a comment to you sitting next to my boyfriend, who is gazing at me expectantly for a reply to some remark my brain hasn't registered. Hhhhm.

We have gotten some really good captchas during our conversations. I've decided not to friend you just so we can continue sharing these spectacular captchas. Here's mine:

"manageable Dr"

...manageable doomsday reality?

...manageable daring rebels?

...manageable dashing rogues?

One of my friends edited a picture of himself to correspond with the song. It's both awesome and ridiculous.

Some have really interesting concepts, but I've been defaulting with really harsh ratings.

A few games a day, just because Gaia hasn't been as exciting as it used to for me :/

I used to think that maybe I'd like to go into advertising, but I'm not sure. I really just like graphic design I guess.

I've decided I'm going to make a more concentrated effort to incorporate exciting and unusual words into my everyday vernacular.

Words like Mssr. instead of Mr.

Well, Captcha keeps a bot out by asking the "user" to decipher a set of scrambled letters.

Sometimes, when digitalizing books, the machine doing the work is unable to decipher the words because they're distorted (captcha, yeah?).

So the "book idea" is that two words, instead of one, are provided to the user.

The first is a verifiable word, a word that has already been deciphered and decoded. (in this case, Argonauts).

The second is an unidentified word, that is shown to several users -- the most commonly agreed upon decipher (Methodist) will be recorded and put into the digital book.

Did I explain that clearly?

Argonauts Methodist.

Ohh..makes sense now. I am DETERMINED to comment on every game I assess. And I've also tried to be helpful but stingy.

What was your favourite(s) so far?

(I'm glad to have impressed you? I feel like I should update my profile to be less...bland.

omnomnom i'ma eachoo.

Hhhhm...maybe "bite me?"

I'm not very creative right now I'm afraid.

I got: Messrs blasted.

I applaud the introduction of captchas in comments; I'd like to see that extended to eliminate all the bots in Gaia

Though I suspect certain Gaia Inc. executives like having an inflated number of members.

Speaking of captchas -- have you heard about how they're using captchas to digitalize books?

I think the only thing that confused me was, have we met? :
O I've kind of been on hiatus for a few months now, but I'm thinking maybe...pinball?

Hahaha, I think I agree. You seem pretty awesome yourself. <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">will father my future babies differentiates between the two as "nerd" referring to someone incredibly dorky and intelligent.

A geek is incredibly dorky, and often knowledgeable about such things as comics or cartoons or, as you remarked, Magic.

Nice t'meetcha, Nik.
