Miku is just one in a series of "Vocaloids". You pick notes, syllables, and length of notes, and you can make the program sing or say whatever you want. Miku is a sopranno singer meant for pop songs and such, but there are others with different voices, such as Luka (an alto female), Prima and Tonio (opera singers), Gakupo (dark, tenor male), Yuki (young girl's voice), etc.
