I mean, we were really into the first two seasons of Digimon, FMA, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Naruto... (well, come to think of it, I was more into Digimon and later FMA. My sister & little brother were more well-versed when it came to Dragon Ball & Naruto sweatdrop )

Also I'm not sure exactly when, but I've sort of weaned? Myself? Off of animes and mangas?? The last manga that I properly followed was FMA & Eyeshield21, and the last anime was probably...hoooboy i don't even remember at this point, might be FMA Brotherhood sweatdrop It's kind of a shame, cuz my sister and little brother could still discuss Naruto whenever they get together and I'd be like, sitting at the side and just screaming "NARUTO ISN'T OVER YET??!" xd

Aaanyways...yeah, point is, sometimes I wish I'd immersed myself in Pokemon when I was growing up. Now I find myself thinking, huh, I wish I knew more about it cuz nowadays I see stuff inspired by Pokemon and it sure does look like a lot of fun!! But also at the same time I have no idea where to start haha

What's a good starting point to get to know Pokemon more, for a compleet noob? Cuz I just remember the anime where Ash, Misty and Brock were travelling around and I remember that Ash had Pikachu, Charmander and Bulbasaur as his like 3 main Pokemons and that's about it sweatdrop

Forgot to put this at the beginning of the first part of the comment, and comments can't be edited. I apologize if I sounded angry, I just really dislike the big bang theory and what it represents. When it started out everyone was going nuts about how it was a "smart comedy" when in reality it stoops to family guy levels of humor basically saying "This thing exists and nerds like it, so laugh"

Getting funding is the main problem, so higher rank scientists have to be good at giving speeches and showing data in simpler terms as well as experiments. I won't have to deal with that right away, as I'll probably start as a lab tech or animal care tech (take care of the lab animals, count the dead, make sure everything is labeled, etc.), but if I get to the point where I run my own experiments and have lackeys/grad students working under me I will have to. That probably won't happen until after I get a master's or PhD though, so that's a ways off. I've given speeches before, but I'm not the best at them.

Do not rely on the big bang theory for any depiction of scientists or geeks in general. Those people are caricatures of intellectuals with no resemblance to any human being. Sheldon in particular is an insult to intellectuals and people with Asperger's syndrome (myself included) and the fact he was popular enough to get a child spinoff show and the super punchable brat that plays him read categories on jeopardy for a while infuriates me to no end. As for figures I see myself as, I can't really think of one. Scientists in media are usually shown as teachers (bill nye, Neil Degrasse Tyson, etc.), awkward fools (the guy from steins gate, all of big bang theory, etc.), Crazy (Krieger from archer), young supergeniuses (hakase from nichijou), or are secretly super evil (Shou Tucker from FMA, Birkin from RE). Nobody wants to watch the people who actually follow ethical codes and just quietly do experiments, or if they do they end up killed or experimented upon by the evil scientist. I guess Michio Kaku would be the closest to me personality wise, but he still shows up on TV once in a while and wrote a few books and gives speeches. I met the guy once after he gave a speech at HOSA nationals, really humble guy, hates having his picture taken.

as for the username, there's no big reason behind it - just something I've wanted to change for a while. the last name always felt lengthy, and I would've been happy with just "Serith" ...but that was already taken. so were a million others usernames I would'be preferred, but the system finally accepted one. so Luin it is! (boring reason, I know. we can pretend I've gone on some epic soul-searching journey instead)
