“The part of the passage near the end was already here,” he explained. “But the tunneling that goes up into the hideout was something that Destiny and some of the others had built. He had told us that our organization was against the law of the city and that we needed to find a way to keep everyone hidden.”

Page and B came to a large door with a lock on it. The younger dug through his robe for a moment before producting a key. He began to work on opening the door.

“That may be true,” he told her in reply. Then the man chuckled – a certain lightness in his eyes that anyone would have been surprised at. “But for now, my dear, you need to not think about what may come and what is happening now.”

Medre carressed the side of her face a little before standing.

“You should want to get some sleep. With a fall like what you had, I should expect that you’re tired. And don’t worry about anyone trying to come in here. I’m going to stay and guard you…if that helps any.”

“I mean that you’d rather have a warm person take care of you rather than a cold one try and hurt you,” he explained, setting the rag down on the nightstand beside the glass shards. “Afterall, few humans really enjoy pain when its compared to a welcoming place…”

The young man’s expression changed from slight surprise to a warm grin. He squeezed her shoulder lightly and replied, “I suppose you enjoy that. A person with warmth to hold you and take care of you…” Medre laughed to himself, keeping his eyes fixed on hers.

“Am I?” Medre asked, having not noticed.He looked at his hands a moment before turning his gaze down to her.

Medre chose not to continue on that topic and instead proceeded on with clearing away blood and finding more pieces of glass. Several of the pieces had made Kioki wince when he removed them. Medre kept one of his arms around her shoulders, gently rubbing her with his thumb whenever she seemed uncomfortable.

“I would have given you that answer if you wanted me to,” Medre continued, straightening himself back up and continued to search for any over-looked shards on her neck and head. “But that’s not a very comforting thought, is it?”

“Because I can’t help but follow you,” he told her. “And I couldn’t just leave you like you were.”

Medre suddenly noticed something as he worked on cleaning the wound. Pursing his lips, he grabbed a piece of glass that was sticking out of her head and plucked it out swiftly – placing the small shard on the nearby nightstand.

“I don’t know anything,” Medre admitted. “But I don’t want you to think about it. I can kill them in the instant they set foot in this room if they ‘do’ come. Here, I’m going to lift your head a bit so I can clean it back there.”

The man gently lifted her up a little so he had more accessability to the most injured part of her body.

“I didn’t take you up here to make you choose anything…calm down. Your head is full of thoughts right now and it’s just pulling you down more. Those people aren’t going to hurt you, and I’m not going to hurt you. You’re still bleeding. Nothing will get fixed if you keep on trying to up and move.”

Medre put one hand on her shoulder in a calming manner.

Medre smirked, having expecting this question to come up. He took his hand away from her and continued to clean the blood away from her body.

“I found you in an alley,” he explained. “And you were hurt. I brought you here in hopes to mend your wounds the best I could…”

Medre hushed her and stroked her head carefully. “Those people… you won’t need to worry about them right now,” he reassured. “That woman made quite a fall. She wasn’t as lucky as you were, Kioki.”

Medre put one comforting hand on her forehead and pushed her bangs away from her eyes.

“If that’s your dragon, it’s here,” the young man told her. “Everything’s alright. I’m going to take care of you… you’ll be okay.”

The young man let her sit up, but held the back of her head with the damp cloth. “We’re at an inn up a level from where you fell,” he explained. “You need to not take things so fast if you want to heal quickly.”

Medre’s eyes widened when he saw her own eyes begin to open. He lifted the cloth away from her to be sure it was true.

He chuckled and resumed tending her. “Thank goodness you’re awake,” Medre said slowly.

(I'm just assuming its somekind of an inn...)

Medre looked down at the girl as he placed her down on the bed, a towel behind her head so that the blood wouldn’t get all over the place. She looked strangely pained and yet peaceful… she was breathing, and that’s what was important. The young man set her down and looked over her mangled body… somehow he felt this was his fault.

Medre want into the bathroom and wet a washcloth, bringing it back out with him, and sitting on the edge of the bed.

“I’m sorry this happened,” he apologized, taking the cloth and gently cleaning still-fresh blood from her eyes and face. Medre glanced over at the dresser present in the room, at the strange sword he had found with her. The strange dragon shifted forms, last he saw, so he had assumed that this time it had taken the shape of a sword, and picked it up along with Kioki. He looked back at the girl and sighed to himself, continuing to clean her fair skin.

The boy tensed up and – though B couldn’t see – there was a flush of color on his face. “Ehmm… l-let’s just go.”

Page opened the room’s door and exited with the man following him.

Jenna sighed heavily to herself, to which Tarot landed on her shoulder and hugged her neck. She patted his back with her finger and looked to Radiante. “So… you two are together? I’m surprised that Destiny hasn’t mentioned that.”

The blond blushed a little and looked away.

“Okay… so in order to get out of here and down to the next level, we need to take a secret passage,” the boy murmured quietly. Page went to one corner of the area that they were in and lifted a cobblestone to reveal a large hole with a ladder leading down into its depths.

“C’mon, we’ve got a while to go, here."

Radiante smiled sadly. “Just be sure you don’t get yourself lost down there, okay? I…We still need you with us.”

Page huffed. “Well in order to actually get out of ‘here’ safely, we’ve got to take the underground passage. I’ll lead you down to the lower level and from there I’ll see how far I can get you.”

Jenna’s shoulders dropped a little. Page put his hands on her shoulders in reassurance. “Don’t be disappointed, Jen…you hate the underground way, anyhow.”

The redhead pushed her hair from her eyes and looked away. “Just don’t let Destiny get upset at me for letting you go.”

“I’ll explain everything to him when I get back.” Page pulled Jenna into an embrace quickly before he turned to B.

Merin seemed irritated. “We all care about Kioki, too, B! You can’t just –”

“I agree with him,” Radiante interrupted. This surprised many – including Jenna and Tarot. There was an awkward pause before she continued, “The rest of us need to wait back here and speak to Sylvain. More importantly, we need to keep as many of us together as possible if there’s still trouble out in those streets…”

Merin quietly gritted her teeth and lowered her head. “I…guess…”

Jenna put her hands on her hips. “So it seems our minds are made up here. Come on, let’s get going.”

She was about to head for the exit when Page grabbed her forearm.

“Hold on. I’m not letting ‘you’ go down there!”

“Why not, Page? I’m perfectly capable of as much magic and defence as you are!”

The silver-haired boy caught her eyes and held them in place with his own. “Because you saw those men up there! Without Tarot with you, you’re going to get seriously hurt!”

The girl in pigtails stared at him for a moment, seeming upset. “Why don’t you trust me, Page?”

“Trust isn’t the issue here. The dangers out there are what I’m worried about. I don’t want you to get injured, too.”

“Well…” Jenna sighed and glanced at B and Radiante before looking back to the boy. “Why don’t you take him, then?”

(Aw, I'm sorry... I'm glad you're back, though. ^^)
